  • I used to work in a movie theater, it is entirely possible to see a movie days before its released.

I saw star wars episode three 3 days before it was released.

  • Apparently it was released in the TCL Chinese theater on December 2nd

  • You are aware that different countries get movies on different days, no?

  • It came out today in Australia

  • I saw Gladiator 2 a week before it was released and I used to get invites to advanced screenings.

  • You don't think a movie could be viewable two days earlier than where you live????

  • it's out already in certain places. I'm seeing it tomorrow (12/4) which is technically the day before release. idk why theaters do that but it's plausible.

  • I used to do work delivering packages. One of the regular stop on my route was my local movie theater. They get their films and promotional material weeks in advance. The employees told me that they regularly would watch new movies after work as soon as they came in

Yup. There's a distribution network, and you gotta have time to fix any issues. Can you imagine if a movie theater didn't have a major release on release day because their package was lost?

Slightly off topic, this applies doubly for retail where dozens or hundreds of each item may be needed in way more locations. Walmart is notorious for having new releases out on shelves days or even weeks early.

  • When I was deployed the Iraqi merchants sold bootleg movies before they were released in the states

was it the ones with the korean subtitles?

  • Very possible in many ways doe
