all this just to claim to investors that people are actually using copilot, when it gets reamed even trying the same actions that they show in their adverts
I've been using windows 11 for a while and have avoided any of the AI bullshit. I don't even have one drive installed. Every time they try to add a feature for it I disable it.
I think people who dig out the automatic updates are just asking to be exploited, but I understand the motivation. It can be annoying making sure new features or apps aren't being added with the major version releases.
I need to get around doing my Linux install again soon

Probably because it was written by Copilot. I had an engineering manager submit a proposal for a large project to me one time that was written entirely by AI. He wanted to do some refactoring and gave me a 2000-3000 word document all AI generated to justify it. It didn't say anything specific about what he actually wanted to do or why and was surprised when I was upset with him.
The headline is wrong. The app being renamed is copilot-for-365. The "(Office)" after the name of the thing being renamed does not mean "that means it's Office, guys", it means "this is an Office app and not another app with an identical name because we're good at that"
That it's so easy to misread is an indictment enough of the naming, but no they are not renaming Office.

It'd be so goddamn funny if they did. I yearn for the chaos that the downfall of Microsoft will bring. Let
Slight correction. If it were Google there would have been three separate apps so far this year, which have all been deprecated, and nobody even knows which one is which anymore.
Microsoft isn't that much better, during the development of one of our projects Azure Search was renamed twice: first to Azure AI Search, then to Azure Cognitive Search

Even with this explanation I am confused.
Maybe I should ask Copilot to explain it to me? But not sure which Copilot to use? Maybe I can ask ChatGPT.
Such a concise and evocative name. Why keep the branding from the most popular piece of software on the planet when you can split the diff: half the name from turning said software product into SaaS slop, half from an early AI code assist. Good stuff!
Nothing they make escapes an endless rename cycle. Azure, Visual, Team, 365, even Office are just words they sprinkle around as seasoning over a product every now and then. They might be products in themselves, but they're really just words you can add to the start of a different product's name for flavour. It's the mad libs of marketing.
The only things that have mostly survived have been Windows and XBox, though I think XBox Game Pass for PC is trying to knock it down to just Windows. And then nerd things like .NET, though they've done some real stupid naming shit there as well, e.g Core and Standard, and WinUI 1 vs 2 vs 3.
They should force a team to make an app named “This Microsoft Office App Totally Sucks!” and the team making it would suck so bad they would actually make an app that doesn’t suck on accident.
You know your product has a good name when you need to use brackets to specify what you're actually talking about
Now it can be Microsoft 365 Copilot (Office)
(Classic)
(for Windows 10)
humiliation ritual for windows users
all this just to claim to investors that people are actually using copilot, when it gets reamed even trying the same actions that they show in their adverts
Copilot Usage vs. Number of Products Named "Copilot"
📈📈📈
This move will boost the number of Copilot users per Copilot!
clippy would've never done this to us
I hear he is now working for the interest of the first foundation
My wife's boyfriend is gonna be pissed at me after I talked him into letting me buy a PC for the family computer. He despises Microsoft lol
My wife's tennis coach forced me to switch to Gentoo but now I can't find yahoo mail, am I cooked?

Be a man and use Comic Sans and Wingdings
That's comical, pun intended, I prefer Calibri.
The official FAQ is just comedy now

This article has so much fluff in it that I legitimately can't tell what it's trying to say.
Can't tell if the article was written by Microsoft 365 Copilot Chat, Microsoft 365 Copilot, or Microsoft Copilot.
Or Satya Nadella.

That ain't good
Holy shit, I thought you were making a Microslop joke, but it's real.

I think you're wrong. Try going to office.com, it says Microsoft 365 Copilot App (formerly Office)

Oh come the fuck on

To be honest, this new name does a better job describing the slop it has become.
I give it 6 months before they rename it again.

This is ".NET Passport" erasure.
Shakes my msn at you
I was happy having forgotten about that
The reckoning of them going all in on AI should be around that time I'm hoping
What next, Xbox Copilot?
Will it play instead of me?
Xbox Copilot Series (X)
Please don't give them ideas!
No, they’ll call it Windows Copilot for Gaming. No mention of Xbox at all.
can we fucking stop?
ftfy (that's actually how i read it at first)
Microsoft really knows how to fuck up properly. Like they go all in
They’re so bad at this!
Microsoft Copilot Power Office Apps for Sharepoint
.NET
They should force a team to make an app named “This Microsoft Office App Totally Sucks!” and the team making it would suck so bad they would actually make an app that doesn’t suck on accident.
Not confusing at all! Good job marketing idiots!
What is even Microsoft 365 (Office) app? There are separate apps for Excel, Word etc
This is what happens when "Copilot usage" is everyone's KPI
When is CopilotOS dropping?
I miss Clippy
I guess Microsoft learned absolutely nothing from slapping “Visual” and “.NET” onto everything.
wrong sub
/uj They didn't rename office. This whole thing is dumb rage bait.
