Got tired of my cheap ass kettle temp staying at 100C then suddenly saying 92C and always reading 4C high, so I screwed my other regular temp probe into the lid that just so happened to have threads on it.
Something something two sensors are worse because now you’re always wrong.

Never hurts to be sure about the temp. I drilled a bigger vent hole in mine that I slide a digital thermometer down when heating water. I've looked into some of the handle thermometers before and most had reviews that condensation gets in them pretty really. Hope this one last for you
If you'd enjoy a slightly better electric kettle, my BonaVita has been ol' reliable for 3 years now for this one (first one lasted 7 years before I got water on the element and ruined it). They heat up pretty quickly and maintain well from my experience.
