If you look carefully all staining is in the non chlorophyll parts. Someone told me that it is more common during winters and that he uses Silica to counter that. I have not myself tried it. You can research and decide.

Also I noticed that overwatering can also cause crisping. Is the soil too soggy or too much moisture can also cause browning.
Maybe fungal? Honestly i dont know but if you find out please tell me, im having similar problems with my golden pothos
