I'm so lucky to have a childhood before the golden age of Photoshop (and then filters, and then ai) cause I could not clock all these things. The new generations are gonna have a heck of a time deprogramming this sh*t from their minds.
Back in the day, I loved the websites that posted:
Original pics next to the edited version from music, makeup and fashion photoshoots. I wonder if assistants ever got fired for passing them along.
Doctored magazine covers that famously pissed off the subject - I think Kate Winslet was one of them.
Terrible photoshop in general, "look, a chunk of that model's arm is missing."
That shit should be mandatory in school, with those makeup videos where the live filter is glitching, so you can see their real face. Oh, and that time where Chris Jenner and Gordon Ramsay posted very different versions of the same pic!
Im not a huge fan of the styling. I know a lot of the girls seem comfortable in them but its getting boring when all the stylist seems to be focusing on is highlighting their figures. Their red carpet looks werent great either. I wish they put more effort.
their stage looks are pretty good imo but their red carpet looks have been atrocious 😭 their stylist has no clue how to dress them for red carpet events
I'm honestly kind of tired of these looks. It's the same thing; either it's a tiny top that shows off how flat their stomachs are, or tiny shorts/dress/miniskirt that's cut wayyy too high, or both. I looked through all of these photos and the only outfit that breaks this rule is Yoonchae's in pic 12, where her halter somewhat covers her stomach but rises up at the back. I know it's their bodies, and they've stated they feel comfortable, so as a fan I'm happy for them. But I'm so bored by these outfits, and as a girl myself, even with the sweat they work up dancing I know I'd be freezing in those clothes in the arenas (they keep it so cold!). (Also why do these pieces look like they come from Shein? Very trending fast fashion-esque, the type of thing celebs wear once then dump in a landfill).
(Btw I disagree with the argument that they need revealing outfits for mobility when dancing. In a lot of their Tiktoks, they're dressed in long pants/regular length tops and dance just as well, plus lots of professional dancers wear outfits with more coverage on the regular).
As a former gogo dancer, I guarantee they are cooking up on stage, under the lights it is very hot. Add vigorous movement I doubt any of them are cold. I had many instances of wanting to wear pants over the years but anytime I did I ended up hating it because I was overheating after one set.
I’m not a fan of how over sexualized they are. Of course women should be able to wear what they want, but they’re also under contract with a label that has control over their concept and image, and I can’t ignore the power dynamic that creates.
Yeah... this vibe is very old and tired tbh, especially if you never liked it the first time it came around. the hypersexualization and the cheapness of it reminds me of the smell of burning plastic.
Right I remember when PCD dressed like this it was scandalous (burlesque inspired group made sense imo), but these outfits are even smaller..and they are still so young. I love that blue outfit with the big jeans, still flirty and sexy..just more creative.
Their fits are totally making me think of that era, but when shows or movies parodied the girl groups and singers of then. At this point, it’s caricature-ish
when i worked in a daycare the children loveddd gnarly especially the first verse they would sing it all the time. and they have a bunch of children at their shows. they are marketed towards many age demographics but a big portion of their fans are young children.
How so? I feel this is a very common misconception because their songs do include mature language and I don’t think that’s something that’s usually “marketed towards children”.
Yeah, every photo in OP's post has at least one woman posing in service to the male gaze. Some of them look straight up awkward and uncomfortable as if they need a newspaper with today's date in order to be photographed. Honestly, knowing they're the product of a highly curated reality show that was set up by multi-billion dollar record labels makes it all feel even more exploitative.
My personal opinion is that, as a group, they have never felt organic in any way, shape, or form to begin with. These labels are trying to make them fit into a formulaic kpop group puzzle. They won't fit without a lot of manipulation to do so, yet labels keep trying to force it. All the while, a wonderful yet different puzzle sits off to the side, unsolved, and it's missing exactly one piece.
I also thought of Adele while writing my comment, but those are still exceptions. We can't deny that the average female singer is expected to wear such outfits nowadays
At what point do we stop saying this? All of these pop stars that supposedly have to dress like this to get fans are pretty much exclusively listened to by women and gay people.
And they’re not the ones listening to and buying the music, either they’re comfortable and want to dress like this or they’re being forced into it. Make up your mind, there is so much more important shit going on then this, especially since you guys say this shit every time a new pop star comes out
I said this in another comment, while I understand the concern I also feel as if we're at a point where people are flat out too comfortable treating Katseye like puppets. I feel as if that is because of their affiliation to a Kpop company? Idk. But Daniela and Tate McRae are the same age, but I don't see this discourse with Tate! Olivia Rodrigo is also under Geffen Records and she started wearing more revealing clothes on stage, but I don't see people accusing Geffen of sexualizing her. But with Katseye, right out the bat people make insane accusations about what HYBE is doing to them. I don't know how the girls feel about their styling. I do know pre-debut Lara and Lara now are virtually similar, but I just wish people could acknowledge that they might have some agency in their career. And maybe I'm wrong (I hope not), but I also don't feel comfortable treating them like they're not their own person.
This is so disingenuous. The girls are CLEARLY marketed towards children, a huge part of their fanbase is kids, and they are very young and more sexual than some of the examples you listed. I’ve never seen Olivia Rodrigo twerk on stage. Tate is marketed towards girls around her age and older.
Lara was posing in thongs and doing sexually suggestive photoshoots at 15. When the group was conceived, there were three teenagers in it.
Katseye is clearly marketed towards people their own age. Not kids. I mean Gnarly's got a line that says, "making beats for a boring dumb bitch. Fucking gnarly"
I agree. I think it’s because they’re associated with a kpop company. There is always a fuss about what they wear and I don’t understand why it’s such a big deal. They’re not a “kpop” group. Like you mentioned, no one bats an eye when western artists wear revealing clothes. I remember watching an interview with them and a couple of them mentioned they liked showing a different side on stage aka dressing sexy. Even with yoonchae, I don’t think she’s ever looked uncomfortable with her outfits.
Perhaps not but it isnt a good song either...I know this stuff is subjective but it combines the bad elements of gnarly and SIS. Bad lyrics and similar music style of SIS. Their performance skills are the only thing making the song redeemable. On its own, it wouldnt work.
Scooter Braun is involved with their company so no he’s going to continue giving them rejected songs on discount this group attracts so many fans who then end up walking tf away to snark on them instead because of whoever it is making decisions for them.
My kids are obsessed with jentry chau vs the underworld on Netflix. They do the intro song which I really really like, constantly stuck in my head. I was actually annoyed at how much I hated any other songs of theirs I heard.
Love their fashion style, their performances, their personalities from what I see online, love their energy, and the overall group dynamics lol but the songs are not it for me
They are sexualised too much but the styling team still did a great job of maintaining their individuality.
Also the rhetoric that they let Yoonchae dress modestly is laughable because they don't really. She's just relatively more covered up. I don't like the fact that people are applauding them for this.
I'm glad they have stopped assigning them individual colors like the Powerpuff girls because all of the colors they had assigned to the girls did not suit them.
Now that I've gotten that out: I love them so much. Lara is my bias. She and Simone Ashley have done more for brown skin representation than any Indian celebrity in recent times. It's amazing how much of an impact she has had at such a young age.
My eyes are drawn to a different member each time I watch them and Gabriela has a permanent place in my playlist now. I think Sophia is just perfect for the leader role, Megan is just pure chaotic energy, Yoonchae's hair and smile are to die for, Daniela is the best dancer and Manon has a very doe-eyed fae beauty. I love the bond they all have with each other and I really hope they stay friends even when they eventually start pursuing individual careers.
the styling team still did a great job of maintaining their individuality
Genuine question because I know nothing about these girls but what individuality is there in these outfits? To an outsider they are all a variation of tiny top + tiny bottom + identical boots. I can’t even tell which one is supposed to be the “more covered” one. And I genuinely don’t mean this as a diss, I’m curious what individuality I am supposed to see that I am not seeing
Great performers but they are over sexualized and it's so strange to have a then 17 year old part of the group. Now that shes 18 as of a week ago, I can just assume that it'll get more over the top
It reminds me of the 90s/00s girl group and boy and era when they were really young when they're signed up as a group. I think the Sugababes (original trio) were 13, so being 17 doesn't feel as bad as that in comparison. Though I totally agree that the outfits feel like a bit much - just as they often did in 2000s, overly skimpy, random cut outs and pieces of material wrapped here and there without any real cohesiveness.
Too male-gazey tbh. They all look incredible, obviously, but I think the very-sexualized styling isn’t as fashion forward, and risks alienating women and girls from the fan base.
It’s a shame because I love how silly and down to earth they are outside of performing and their songs are catchy. I just hate how some of them are openly sapphic/queer and their songs are like about sexual things with men. 😔 Sometimes I enjoy foreign music since I can enjoy the vibes without knowing the lyrics which takes me out.
I think it’s just the difference in age. I don’t like a lot of older or younger music (especially rap) but gnarly hits for me. It’s fun, unserious, and catchy as hell.
I was apprehensive about Gnarly at first, but was willing to wait to see their performance of it to see if it would change my mind. Their performance totally sold the song and now I'm totally on board. It's just super fun!
That’s how they roped me in too. They were fully committed to making a fun party girl song and it worked with me even if I’m not exactly their target demographic. It reminds me of another great girl group party song: Patron Tequila by the Paradiso Girls (remember them?). 😎😆
But Gnarly also reminds me of songs from their sister group, LE SSERAFIM. Songs like “Crazy” and “1-800-Hot-n-Fun.” Completely unserious songs that reminds us to just have fun and to take things easy. And we need more of those right now. 😋
the first time I heard Gnarly I thought it sounded like shit, and I still think it sounds like shit. but alas I keep playing it and its always stuck in my head
idc what anyone says but they really should make more stuff like ‘Gnarly’. It’s a banger and had actual personality. It’s their only song that doesn’t sound like a reject from another artist..
It is subjective but their music are mostly demos and made keeping tik-tok and virality in mind. Their recent song Internet Girl is giving nothing. I wish they had more involvement too, other hybe artists have involvement in their music so I wonder why katseye has none. I think the girls deserve better.
Most music comes from demos and all labels have virality and TikTok in mind when it comes to music for their newer acts. Katseye will eventually be more involved with their music. The girls had a crazy year so I'd rather they find their footing before they amp up their workload.
It is. They are trying to win a Grammy they don’t deserve and Scooter Braun is involved in their company. One of the girls is actually not as dark as she appears on purpose and her family had her out here acting like an OF model soft core advertising on her IG as a minor, they now post creepy updates and vlogs (her dad mainly) and speak of themselves in third person (her dad mainly he calls himself Papa Raj) targeting Katseye fans who are either majorly underaged impressionable teens or creeps waiting for a Yoonchae to turn 18. Her family wants to be the next Kardashian powerful family using any means, it seems like. She’s dating a guy in his 20s and they seem to have started dating while she hadn’t turned 19 yet. Now the rest of the girls are starting to act like her even though they were completely toned down before debut.
Another member had her bff involved in Tate and Kid Laroi breakup and it’s beginning to look like she knew the man trapping was happening and was okay with it.
Another has a leech bf and she’s a bit problematic and doesn’t seem to get along with the rest of them and has been caught hitting them when she’s annoyed or irritated. Lashing out like with no control like some spoiled sibling.
Another has an ED and seems to be sad she’s not a better singer than the more vocal one and also not a better dancer than the dancy one and it shows sometimes. She also bullied the youngest one who could barely speak English at that time.
The youngest seems lost and like she never fits in. She probably wanted a well behaved pop group and ended up instead in this tiktok style group full of scandals and badly behaved dames with Scooter Braun involved and she can’t leave till the contract is up.
They were signing at the downtown Target in Seattle; it was the craziest thing I’ve seen in a while. That Target is so small, it seemed so impractical.
Security was yelling at everyone not to take videos but people were still hiding in the aisles taking videos
Same. To think they're all very young... I read somewhere that the youngest member turned 18 just a few days ago and the more I think about it, the more gross everything feels. Some people look at young girls just waiting for that specific birthday, I remember something about a countdown on some site... We live in a very ugly world...
Reminder that they have stylists, they are not the sole outfit choice-makers. Which is creepy bc this is what they've been made to wear, meanwhile they're all super young. I wish them all the success but all the safety, too.😕
On top of that all photos of theirs (official ones like these) seems to be heavily edited. I just noticed the area by Lara's hand. The girls are gorgeous without the unrealistic editing but...
Not planning on engaging further but additional reminder that it's the people with a position of power over these artists' responsibility to protect them.
They have every right to express themselves through fashion, but they are also being put on a world stage at a very young age. Final reminder that multiple things can be true at once.
A lot of you all are too comfortable treating these girls like puppets. You can still voice your concerns, but I also have a feeling that you don't do the same thing to artists under western labels. Tate McRae and Daniela are quite literally the same age, but I don't see the same discourse about her that I do with Katseye.
Ik I said I wouldn't reply further, but I have a very niche, recent anecdote that fits as a rebuttle lol.
The other week, like 5 seconds of Tit for Tat by Tate started playing for me in an insta reel or smth.
So I scrolled thru Tate's Spotify bc I used to enjoy her music a lot and realised I hadn't played any of it for a years. I went through it on YouTube aswell - I scrolled back to like 2020 because I have a distinct memory of wanting to pay money just to watch her virtual concert during the pandemic😭😭
And I noticed a tone shift in her dress after 2020. And I thought I was just being dramatic but still decided to search up how old she was on Google as a reference.
The difference between her performance and music video outfits from before and after she turned 18 is like night and day and I think that's rly weird.
So yeah just letting you know I think this is a weird phenomenon in general. Whilst young women and women in general deserve to express themselves however they see fit through their fashion, their choice to do so and whether it is autonomous becomes blurred when they have a literal music label that they're financially in debt to looming over them...
At the end of the day, they're the ones treating them like puppets. I'm just expressing my personal distaste for such.
I think all the pop girls are dressing sexier nowadays. if you look at Olivia Rodrigo, her concert outfits are a lot more risqué than when she first started as well.
Just from these pics, imho their outfits look cheap, tacky and over sexualised. Especially pic 9 where they look like they are dressed up like a creepy old man’s wet dream.
The constant posing on their knees obviously plays into their over sexualised image as well. If you had no idea that they were in a girlband and saw these pics of them wearing little more than lingerie that looks like it’s been put through a shredder and posing on their knees, you would easily assume they were OF girls promoting a new bop house.
It’s a shame because with good styling their individual styles/personalities would be another aspect their fans could relate to. They are beautiful and talented girls, but their styling is boring, off putting and over sexualised.
Fire the stylist, stop trying to make them look like sexy brats dolls at every opportunity, show some individuality and variety in their style and not push them to wear as little as possible all the time. They have six girls in this group with different personalities and tastes, their options for styling them are endless, yet not one of these pics show any individuality, the marketing and styling is very clearly just to sell sex.
So yeah, they are beautiful girls but their marketing and styling is trash imho. It’s sad young girls are constantly bombarded with this imagery.
Am I crazy or does anyone agree that they always put Lara and Manon in the most sexualized outfits ...and that could possibly be because of their race(s)
Not really. They were made on a reality show that aimed to make a western/international group using the K-pop trainee method, so that might be what’s giving gimmick vibes.
They are actually very talented performers, but the material they’re given to work with is.. not good.
They’re actually incredibly talented. True athletes in their performances and they can sing. The problem is the team that’s managing them is absolutely all over the place.
The photos are edited, but the sad thing is they weigh a good 10lbs more than what they'd be forced to weigh if they were a kpop group. Because they're "international" they're allowed to be at a low-healthy BMI (vs underweight)
Maybe unpopular opinion but I don't see how they're being oversexualized just from wearing more revealing clothing. If it was from lyrics or suggestive dancing I could get the argument, but I'm tired of women being judged for the clothes they choose to wear. They have talked about their styles and seem to be happy about the outfits they wear so what is the issue?
Lara's pre-debut (yes when she was a teen) styling was pretty much the same as Lara now. Her parents must've been super chill. But the clothing they wear now does seem to match their personality more. I do understand the worries, but I also think what they're wearing is pretty similar to what the pop girls (who are around the same age as the Katseye girls) are wearing now. I often wonder if people are saying such comments because of their adjacency to Kpop.
Their producer put a soundbite from porn into one of their songs and you don't think they're sexualized? They had seventeen year old Yoonchae twerking on the stage with the other members to that same song and you don't think they're sexualized? Get a grip. The people in charge are marketing them as sexy, and even if they're fine with it (which we can't know for sure that they all are, Lara and Daniela at least seem to be), I can still recognise the power dynamics at play.
Their choreos are suggestive too? An underaged member wore a tight Christmas outfit for a video? People express their dislike of women’s exposed bodies not because they’re judging them but how it contributes to a culture that women have to cater to the male gaze and be eye candy over actual comfort, style, and safety because no, a member who was underaged until very recently are not safe in these style of outfits and we have to keep in mind that these are idols who have sasaengs (extreme fans/stalkers), a good portion of older male fans, and South Korea is still very much a misogynistic country. I don’t wear mini skirts in public not because I’m conservative or “prude” but because I don’t want people to ogle me, touch me, objectify and oversexualise me. Women these days keep being told that wearing revealing clothing is empowering when to me, it’s just giving creepy men what they want
The Spice Girls were once in a generation. Personally I agree I think they definitely have Spice Girl energy but I don’t think anyone can follow that trajectory. The market in 2024, when Katseye debuted, wasn’t the same as the market in 1996.
Also, and this may just be my community, I feel like not as many young children are into Katseye as were into The Spice Girls. If I have (very rarely) met young people into them they are older teenagers.
Edit: I will add, which is sad because they have good enough voices, are good dancers, performers and put in the effort. The label was so demanding with them yet it gives them shitty music to perform.
Are they not the biggest girl group in the US right now? I thought they have been doing well seeing that it is hard to start a girl group and for that group to succeed in the west. Little Mix and Fifth Harmony are the last big ones and it’s been years since, ‘no?
Blackpink and Twice are still bigger in the US, they were effectively the gen that followed 5H/LM here despite being foreign groups. Katseye has momentum and seems poised for big things in 2026 but atm is still a long way from filling stadiums like those groups.
I’m not super familiar with them but just from what I’ve seen lara raj is the only one who gives star power, in all these photos she’s serving while the others look so awkward and are giving nothing 😭

Was a good hip to waist ratio a requirement for making this band?
The first picture is badly photoshopped. Look at their arms, some look deformed because of the photoshop around the waists.
It's giving Pussycat Dolls album cover

How have I never seen this before 😭
Was a good hip to waist ratio a requirement for making this band?
5000% photoshopped in the first pic. I’m sure they all look amazing irl so it’s just sad
Right?? The grass behind Lara’s arms is a dead giveaway
Edit: also how did I miss Dani missing her entire right arm/hand?
Where is her right arm? Am I crazy

Probably on her back/waist but the fur hid it

They are gorgeous but...their photos are heavily edited. Some of them do not have that ratio or whatever and its okay.
two of them actually have a rectangular body shape, and they both look amazing. idk why they need to photoshop women whose figures are already perfect
I remember as a young teenager seeing Girllicious in concert and it was such a relief to realize that celebrities look way different in real life.
they all have amazing bodies and the tiny top tiny bottom gets to show that off, but it would be fun to see them wearing different silhouettes
Agree, it’s a bit dated and how many variations can be done on the same theme. Would love to see them in more free flowing or imaginative fits.
I’m glad to hear you say it because I thought I was the only one. Not loving the styling.
It’s giving fashion nova
it would be nice if they wore something else lol. like other clothes can suit their styles as well 😭
It’s all just like ripped up looking
nearly all of these photos make me feel like I've walked in to a room full of girls who were just talking shit about my outfit
I'm honestly kind of tired of these looks. It's the same thing; either it's a tiny top that shows off how flat their stomachs are, or tiny shorts/dress/miniskirt that's cut wayyy too high, or both. That was my thought too, they need a bigger budget because the outfits look so cheap, not their fault.
drag on a dime challenge says that's not an excuse 😭
they prob just need a more creative stylist.
As a former gogo dancer, I guarantee they are cooking up on stage, under the lights it is very hot. Add vigorous movement I doubt any of them are cold. I had many instances of wanting to wear pants over the years but anytime I did I ended up hating it because I was overheating after one set.

It looks so early 2000s. I can picture Xtina and Britney in those faux leather mini skirt
Yeah... this vibe is very old and tired tbh, especially if you never liked it the first time it came around. the hypersexualization and the cheapness of it reminds me of the smell of burning plastic.
Right I remember when PCD dressed like this it was scandalous (burlesque inspired group made sense imo), but these outfits are even smaller..and they are still so young. I love that blue outfit with the big jeans, still flirty and sexy..just more creative.
I was thinking the monochrome variations on a theme reminded me of destiny’s child’s clothes.
Their fits are totally making me think of that era, but when shows or movies parodied the girl groups and singers of then. At this point, it’s caricature-ish
Also most of them aren't even in their 20s, the youngest turned 18 just this month
Three of them are in the same age range as Tate McRae and Tyla. Manon and Sophia are actually older than when Beyonce (21) released Crazy In Love.
The difference is that these girls are clearly marketed towards children.
Katseye are marketed towards people their own age!
You think Gnarly, with moan noises in the background, is marketed for children? Be so fr rn.
when i worked in a daycare the children loveddd gnarly especially the first verse they would sing it all the time. and they have a bunch of children at their shows. they are marketed towards many age demographics but a big portion of their fans are young children.
fwiw they performed gnarly live at the nickelodeon kids choice award and left that sound in.
The moaning sound came on while a literal child (Yoonchae) is doing the choreo, so idk what to tell you.
How so? I feel this is a very common misconception because their songs do include mature language and I don’t think that’s something that’s usually “marketed towards children”.
Their initial concept did not. SIS was clearly targeted towards kids, and it did not contain curse words or explicit language. It was very cutesy.
a, they’re not. b, parents should do their jobs.
God forbid we criticise a huge corporation like Hybe x Geffen!
criticize their label all you want, but most people won’t, they’ll go on about the girls in the group.
How did I criticise the girls?
Oh lord that’s upsetting.
me personally im getting a little tired of this being what they (and other female artists) wear all the time
Yeah why are they on their knees in most of the pics
All the while, a wonderful yet different puzzle sits off to the side, unsolved, and it's missing exactly one piece.
and it proves once again that in this industry women have to wear such outfits to attract potential fans and increase popularity, it's so redundant
Not totally true. Just look at Adele, Taylor Swift, and Billie Eillish.
I also thought of Adele while writing my comment, but those are still exceptions. We can't deny that the average female singer is expected to wear such outfits nowadays
At what point do we stop saying this? All of these pop stars that supposedly have to dress like this to get fans are pretty much exclusively listened to by women and gay people.
well the people taking care of their careers and CEOs of the companies that are selling their music are men
And they’re not the ones listening to and buying the music, either they’re comfortable and want to dress like this or they’re being forced into it. Make up your mind, there is so much more important shit going on then this, especially since you guys say this shit every time a new pop star comes out

Came here to say this.
I was trying to ignore it. At least they’re adults.
they’re gonna be so tea once they stop releasing old rejected 2018 demos
Is "eat zucchini" a rejected demo? lol
They released Gnarly — a 10/10 banger — and then immediately went back to mid. Please can they make more stuff like that??
I'm really glad they're wearing sensible shoes to perform and dance in and not spiky heels.
Their outfits make me nervous. Some of them look like they are wardrobe malfunction waiting to happen.
I feel like they’re a bit too young to be sexualised like this…
I love them but i can’t stand their actual music
My kids are obsessed with jentry chau vs the underworld on Netflix. They do the intro song which I really really like, constantly stuck in my head. I was actually annoyed at how much I hated any other songs of theirs I heard.
Their music is for teens and tweens.
[deleted]
Love their fashion style, their performances, their personalities from what I see online, love their energy, and the overall group dynamics lol but the songs are not it for me
it's a shame their production budget can only get them lingeries
So Lara always wears a bindi with her outfits and Manon regularly wears beads on her waist. Both are culturally significant.
Another thing is how they let Manon and Daniela wear their hair natural (curly/wavy/in braids) without pushing for a uniformly sleek look.
I'm sorry, but that is nothing new in pop bands whatsoever. The bar really is on the floor.
Great performers but they are over sexualized and it's so strange to have a then 17 year old part of the group. Now that shes 18 as of a week ago, I can just assume that it'll get more over the top
wait there was a 17yo girl in the group since their debut?
she was born December 2007 and they debuted in June 2024 so she was actually 16 at the beginning 🫠
The youngest member just turned 18 a couple days ago
I’m so curious to see how quickly they drop the modesty charade with yoonchae now
In gnarly there’s literally a moan from a porn sample used 😀
It reminds me of the 90s/00s girl group and boy and era when they were really young when they're signed up as a group.
I wish they made good music cause they seem so cool and are clearly talented performers
Gabriela?
Rita Ora reject song
Is gnarly the one where one of the girls says “gang” like 10 times in a row?
I’m so old, but I was thinking maybe it was comparable to a song from my time in high school like “Goodies” by Ciara where one word is the whole song?
I listened to them both again and Goodies is so much better. Gnarly is a terrible song. I’m not even apologetic anymore. It’s not good.
It really is the whole thing put together, I love pretending I’m matching their beat in my head lollll
Absolutely.
I know people older than me would choose Madonna stuff as pop perfection.
I was a teenager in the mid-aughts and nothing is better than Britney Spears Toxic, imo.
One day you’ll be laughing at younger people like “Katseye was so much better!”
Exactly! Really just comes down to preference and some influence of what’s popular at the time for us
the first time I heard Gnarly I thought it sounded like shit, and I still think it sounds like shit. but alas I keep playing it and its always stuck in my head
6*
Yup
“Gnarly” is a terrible song, but they perform the hell out of it. It’s the only time I’ll listen to it.
idc what anyone says but they really should make more stuff like ‘Gnarly’. It’s a banger and had actual personality. It’s their only song that doesn’t sound like a reject from another artist..
Which is funny because it's a Renee Rapp reject. There's an old reel of her listening to it back when it was presented to her.
+ My Way
Good is subjective. Just because it’s not for you doesn’t mean it’s bad.
never said that it wasn’t subjective , but next time I’ll clarify it explicitly since some of yall need every word to be said out loud
Their stage looks are boring and I wish their stylist experimented more.
No one in this group is allowed to look like they’re having a good time lol
Why does this feel like a PR post
Glad I’m not the only one thinking this!
It’s already a mess.
is it alright for them to dress like that? aren't they like minors or some?
ps: not to offend anyone i am just concerned for them as there are too many predators these days
They were signing at the downtown Target in Seattle; it was the craziest thing I’ve seen in a while. That Target is so small, it seemed so impractical.
Security was yelling at everyone not to take videos but people were still hiding in the aisles taking videos
Quite a contrast from their looks at debut. Was surprised they became "sexified" so soon too.

What’s with getting young girls to dress like strippers?
is ti me or do some of those girls just not look comfortable wearing this shtick?
I just wish they wouldn't always look so miserable
Bratz Squad
I would love to see their on-stage styling incorporate more of their off-stage personal style which is very streetwear forward, tomboyish.
This triggered me into listening to Destiny's Child
I was just thinking this is all Very Destiny's Child reheated nachos.
Its all very early aughts with no new perspective.
They're going to need a bigger style budget to get to the next level.
why aren't they smiling in any group photo taken off stage
Because the point is to cater to the male gaze, not to look like they're having fun.
all the poses of them on their knees are icking me out
Other reminder there's a video of Daniela asking the stylist to make her a piece of her clothing (I believe it was her top) shorter.
Not planning on engaging further but additional reminder that it's the people with a position of power over these artists' responsibility to protect them. They have every right to express themselves through fashion, but they are also being put on a world stage at a very young age. Final reminder that multiple things can be true at once.
Edit: Added a word
Have a day.
I think all the pop girls are dressing sexier nowadays. if you look at Olivia Rodrigo, her concert outfits are a lot more risqué than when she first started as well.
(Seperate comment in case links aren't allowed on here)
A link to a YouTube video I watched recently that covers this entire topic:
https://youtu.be/a96UQSaS2fQ?si=ZE3_9QP4q9nm4qt0
Full disclaimer, I didn't finish watching the video (I need to fix my attention span).
Saw them perform last night in outfits from 4 and they were awesome!
Good lord. Reminder that body fat is safe, acceptable, and beautiful.
They look great.
Am I crazy or does anyone agree that they always put Lara and Manon in the most sexualized outfits ...and that could possibly be because of their race(s)
Are they very popular among young people? I haven’t heard their music but they look so gimicky to me that I can’t give them a chance
Not really. They were made on a reality show that aimed to make a western/international group using the K-pop trainee method, so that might be what’s giving gimmick vibes.
They are actually very talented performers, but the material they’re given to work with is.. not good.
they are popular and gaining popularity but their music isnt for me which is a shame bc they can sing.
They’re actually incredibly talented. True athletes in their performances and they can sing. The problem is the team that’s managing them is absolutely all over the place.
Unfortunately, I can foresee them falling victim to pervy hollyweird.
They’re so tiny
The photos are edited, but the sad thing is they weigh a good 10lbs more than what they'd be forced to weigh if they were a kpop group. Because they're "international" they're allowed to be at a low-healthy BMI (vs underweight)
Women 🥰
Their styling team did a good job this year! I think their newer style fits their personality a bit more.
Get a grip. The people in charge are marketing them as sexy, and even if they're fine with it (which we can't know for sure that they all are, Lara and Daniela at least seem to be), I can still recognise the power dynamics at play.
why do they have to wear this and only this type of stuff all the time?
Gabriella on repeat.
I'm convinced Lara Raj is one of the most beautiful women to ever exist.
Why are they not a bigger deal!?? I feel like they have Spice Girl potential
They're only in their second year but they've made a big impression on the GP this year. Google even did a year in review ad on them.
Spice Girls had good music unlike them
Edit: I will add, which is sad because they have good enough voices, are good dancers, performers and put in the effort.
Ah, I didn't think of them because I was only thinking of primarily US and Western-based groups.
They always look so awkward
I’m not super familiar with them but just from what I’ve seen lara raj is the only one who gives star power, in all these photos she’s serving while the others look so awkward and are giving nothing 😭
I love them so much I wish their music was good
I loved Megan’s hair from Break Free it framed her face so nicely
Isn't one of the girls 17 :X
Is this how women feel when seeing a boyband?

Facetune raking in the dough after every one of these posts
They’re such good performers. Styling eh tho… it’s always the same stuff… crop top/bra & short skirt or shorts. Need something different.
I love the Katseye merch remix looks the most.
I can appreciate that I didn't notice one high heel.
Dream body!!
