Me too. My mental inscape is often a poolroom or another liminal space like this. I've looked it up and apparently it is "hyperassociative spatial-episodic indexing" LMAO and the "background" of my thoughts and "indexing" is very often a space like this.
Why do so many of us feel like we’ve actually been to places like this? It gives me palpable anxiety watching stuff like this, even though these kinds of creations don’t actually reflect real places.
Personally, liminal spaces remind me of childhood maladaptive daydreaming lol. The pools, neighborhoods, malls, seemed much bigger than they actually were, and it was easy to pretend them into different worlds altogether. Imagination ran rampant, I was in frequent pretend danger, but always defeated the boss or saved myself or found the way out. When I see liminal spaces now, they remind me of my old worlds that I’ve already gone through. The danger’s gone, the purpose was served
I would love to know why we feel this way. Both my worst nightmares and most euphoric dreams take place in what is essentially this. It was weird to grow up and learn that it isn't just me.
My best guess is that it has something to do with how we all spent our first conscious moments surrounded by water and confusing noises we couldn't yet understand.
There are tons of great tutorials that are very straightforward to do all kinds of really cool effects. I found a 12ish minute video tutorial for wet surfaces like concrete and stuff the other day and it looked incredible.
This reminds me of the map editor on Far Cry 3 from back in the day.
You could press a button to launch yourself in first person perspective into the map, in order to move about to check the layout, wherever textures glitched or didn't load in properly etc.
The map editor starts off without any land, just a vast body of bottomless ocean.
Idiot that I am, I pressed the button, suddenly plummeting in first person mode into that bottomless ocean.
FFFFUUUUUUCCCCCKKKKKK NNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOO!
That endpoint?! Thanks for this now living rent free in my head.
I'm about to American Ninja Warrior that wall like a mf!
Absolute nightmare fuel!
I love these. They are insanely relaxing. I just wish there was something visibly lurking in the water, like just glimpses of it or something to add some fear and anxiety to it.
I saw one of these on YouTube and the thumbnail had a big snake thing coming out of the water so I was pumped but the snake never showed up. Just some weird things on a playground later in the video.
Hell yeah! I was searching for this comment and it was literally the last one for me, lol.
With the statue submerged in deep waters in a big hall cannot be anything else than a scene from Piranesi.
I absolutely, positively, adore VaporamaVision’s work.
Vaporama Vision is the best in this sector.
How does find more of these
youtube
You know, now that you say it, it seems obvious.
yeah right, it´s a good idea i guess
It’s incredible!!!!!
Agreed. All their videos are amazing
I don’t know why, but videos like this make me feel super unsettled but like in a way that’s weirdly comfortable.
I was just thinking this! It’s unsettling and giving me anxiety but it’s also scratching an itch I didn’t know I had.
You might like r/liminalspaces
I love it!
I agree completely. Couldn’t had said it myself. I’m scared of the dark water, but simultaneously want to sit in the room by myself.
r/thalassophobia :D
And even a little r/submechanophobia

Oooh that’s actually really interesting! I should look more into that
This is a good one

No thank you
These vids give the same.anxiety as videos of geezers climbing a crane or a building. Just horrifying to watch.
What about anxiety from the videos of people squeezing through narrow caves?
Why did you do this
I felt it would bring us closer together
Exchanges like the above make me glad humans created language
us at the dawn of language
The segway from big room to narrow hall with a sheer drop off gives me rock tit in the bad kinda way.💀
… what is rock tit?
Going from positive maze to negative maze
This fucking video gives me chicken skin
I literally shuddered as we took that first step into the water.
Oh hell no. At least you had solid ground before
Reminds me of dreams I use to have when I was a kid

I have dreams like this every night!!! It’s terrifying
My dumbass would slip exactly like this lmao
There's ladders you can get back up.
How you can make 3D animations looks THIS realistic!?
I've been learning Blender lately and it's SHOCKINGLY easy to make some really realistic materials.
I don't have blender, i'm a phone animator 😔
Also, is SO EASY!?😱👀
There are tons of great tutorials that are very straightforward to do all kinds of really cool effects. I found a 12ish minute video tutorial for wet surfaces like concrete and stuff the other day and it looked incredible.
Thanks I will search them and i will check out if i can replicate them in the phone 🥰
You need to shoot the eye switch to raise the walkway, duh! And the giant head statue is probably hookshottable.
r/megalophobia
Reminds me a LOT of https://www.instagram.com/mrdiv.gif/
Just that weird, unsettling, uncanny feeling in a place that doesn't make sense.
The camera getting wet is a really nice detail, and I kept expecting something weird to happen.
This reminds me of the map editor on Far Cry 3 from back in the day.

I still have nightmares about it.
i literally shouted when they started down those stairs
Oh man. This perfectly captures the vibe of weird dreams.
Terrifying and perfect.
Dude, this is so immersive and legitimately unsettling
Oh man I could watch this for hours
This a really good one.
I love this game
This guy is the best. The compelling nightmare poolrooms and situations he creates are unmatched.
We all have r/thalassophobia
Just needed this
Terrifying!
I love it!
This would be a dope dive.
I find this both relaxing and terrifying
Hate it and love it
Why do I like these so much? 🤷♂️
What's this from
https://letmegooglethat.com/?q=Vaporama+Vision
Always excited to see another installment of this particular horror
So creepy
Ugh this gives me chills. I want more
I would totally go in as an expert non swimmer tehe
This induces anxiety
Where is the lifeguard?
I can feel this video
This is super cool, yet highly unsettling to me.. Got goose bumps watching this. Neat stuff though.
Oof, this is like a nightmare, very unsettling.
Is this one of The Backrooms?
That is fucking insane. Where???
I don’t like this one bit. Makes me super anxious for some reason!
This does not cure thallasaphobia
More of these please
This one gives me major anxiety
Why am I scared of this is? Is it the unknown? I’ve dreamed of a place like this before
TIL what a poolroom was (is this real?)
illuminati confirmed
Now this is the definition of liminal
Nice
Every change was just a but more fuck that.
Is this a real place?? I have seen other videos of this from other angles but I can’t tell if it’s AI
It’s not AI it’s made with blender, also not a real place.

Stupid statues
Here comes the piranesi comments
How many times is this going to get posted?
Like a nightmare come through 😬
my brain was not ready for this kind of art
Omg what is this? This is terrifying. Unsettling and so depressing. Is this AI?
This apparently scares the shit out of me. It’s beautiful but I fucking hate it all the way to my core.
FFFFUUUUUUCCCCCKKKKKK NNNNNNNNOOOOOOOOOOO! That endpoint?! Thanks for this now living rent free in my head. I'm about to American Ninja Warrior that wall like a mf! Absolute nightmare fuel!
Ocarina of Time water temple vibes.
The hell is this?
Oh, the Ancient Cistern in skyward sword. You'll be fine.
Thalassophobia & Megalophobia in one video
I'd be legitimately afraid of what might be in there, if ever there was an actual pool shark or squid, this is where it'd live.
Pleroma
The beginning where it seemed you couldn’t climb back up is pure nightmare
I do kinda wish something big swam thru
This is fucking with my mind
Ice wall reference?
Anyone read the book Howling Dark? Theres a scene that this reminds me a lot of where there is a spit of land that goes out into the water.
it looks so slippery
I love these. They are insanely relaxing. I just wish there was something visibly lurking in the water, like just glimpses of it or something to add some fear and anxiety to it.

These vids always give me the creeps and fascinating at the same time.
This should be a VR game
Am I supposed to find this terrifying? I'm not here to make fun of anyone that has a phobia. This looks awesome to me!!!!
Am I the only one feeling nauseous 🤢
It’s amazing the water CGI in this video
So, what is this?
We need a liminal backrooms film in the style of that Black Mirror Christmas episode….I feel like that could work
Gives me Piranesi vibes
Hell yeah! I was searching for this comment and it was literally the last one for me, lol. With the statue submerged in deep waters in a big hall cannot be anything else than a scene from Piranesi.
I fucking hate this shit so much. I totally forgot that I follow these fucking pages
What prompt would you write for ai
This is not AI; it was created by Vaporama Vision using 3DVision render.
I'm saying if wanted to do it in ai
Holy shit, you can’t be serious. Fully automated and you still need guidance? Think for yourself man holy shit.
I've considered many things, thought for hours on end. Got several headaches throughout my whole research.
But I've come up with a genious prompt:
"Make a poolroom video"
Jfc...
/s just in case
