I think both are based on the question. More embarrassing, I think, is paying a girl to be your friend, but I think having an AI be your only friend is worse though. Not embarrassing but worse on other levels.
This was actually kind of difficult to answer at first. But I think the potential for emotional pain is much greater paying a human to be a fake friend.
The paying a girl one doesn't imply that you don't have other friends, like the AI one does. I dunno if that was intentional. In any case, I'm finding this really hard to answer. Worse? Probably AI because you are not developing actual skills which may lead to true friendship, and not having a human connection (paid or not). However embarrassing is probably the girl.
I would imagine that the girl situation is a bridge to more meaningful connections later on. The AI one sounds like a crutch not leading to anything good.
I voted AI, it's literally not real. You can still have genuine social interactions with someone you paid for. And in some cases you can't pay someone enough to be your friend if you're a terrible person. AI literally has no choice but to be with you
It's possible to end up with no friends through no fault of your own, paying for a real person to do it is worse than if it it was AI, unless you're also paying for the AI
But why is it worse? You're gaining much more social skills with a paid friend, and probably actually going outside. $5-10 a day is so little that it's not their job or anything, it's basically buying them a coffee for another day. I'd take that over AI induced loneliness/psychosis any day.
A purely transactional friendship is more flawed imo. They're just providing a service and once you don't have the money then they're gone. And like any service the quality is going to vary, especially if they don't actually like you. $5-10 can be a lot for some people, but it'll add up either way.
As long as you're not under the delusion that the AI is real or get some weird attachment to it, it's really just a tool. It's not going to go away, you don't have to pay for it, and you're probably not going to have a negative experience with it since you can change the settings.
Can't the same be said for the girl - as long as you aren't under the delusion that the girl's friendship is real or you don't get some weird attachment to her, she's really just offering a service.
I mean sure, having to pay for a friend isn't good either. You can't have it both ways with the AI though, where it's "your only friend" and just a tool you're not attached to at all. The fact that you can customize the AI to make it perfectly agreeable to you and not only give you no social experience but a warped anti-social experience.
It doesn't imply that this person CAN'T get AI to be their friend, only that they have chosen a different way. AI will be "friends" with anyone, even more so if you pay.
$240 per year for the AI vs $1825 per year for the hoe, plus you can use the AI for actually useful things. Pluuus there are AIs you can run on your own system for free anyways.
Kinda? Otherwise she could be their friend without taking their money lel. Isnt it also factual, that some people pay sexworkers just to talk or cuddle in bed with no sex involved? How is that different just because the person is taking less money than a "usual" sex worker? Or how is paying for a friendship much different than someone paying for a "real 1 on 1 text chat" on Onlyfans.
Considering AI is just a glorified auto-fill programmed to please just you...yeah, that's much more pathetic. At least there's a potential for that paid friend to appreciate you without monetary incentive, a computer program can't and shouldn't do that.
while paying someone to be your friend is ridiculous, at least it's a real human being. even a fake connection like that could give you confidence enough to make a real friend. hopefully, anyway
How is this one of the most difficult decisions I've made all year lol? I only chose the AI one because the paying someone to be your friend feels more sad than embarrassing.
If you pay someone to be your friend, it can basically go one of two ways: It blossoms into an actual friendship, or you get on their nerves to the point where the money isn't worth it for them any more and they leave. Either way, you've had some actual human connection and have learned something from it.
So in that sense, it's not as bad.
with a real person you at least have a shot at them liking you and becoming your real friend; you develop some social skills with them and if they have other friends they can introduce you to them. With AI you get none of those.
AI is not your friend. that’s like saying an NPC in Skyrim is your friend.
You don’t know Lydia like me.
So is a paid girl
Prostitute is not a friend either.
I think both are based on the question. More embarrassing, I think, is paying a girl to be your friend, but I think having an AI be your only friend is worse though. Not embarrassing but worse on other levels.
100% agree - the answer is different depending on whether we are talking about if its embarrassing or if it's worse
This was actually kind of difficult to answer at first. But I think the potential for emotional pain is much greater paying a human to be a fake friend.

Haha it was intentional don’t worry
I am team paying girl. I know it’s shameless but I am who I am lol. Im happy so idm
Paying AI to be your friend
Paying someone to he a friend is astronomically worse than having ai be a friend.
Both cases are delusional, both are pretty stupid, but only one is super expensive. $3.5k per year just to be friends with someone is.... So stupid.
Nah human contact is needed. Ai induced psychosis is a scary thing and is happening.
People have killed/themselves from AI psychosis, people have not from paying for a friend
That's an outrageous claim. Cults famously kill themselves, and I'm sure friendship was at least partly a motivating factor for their members.
If a person is so desperate for social interaction that either option seems reasonable to them, then they're at risk of bad outcomes.
Well duh, but less people are looking for members for a cult than AI is causing AI psychosis
Friend-induced psychosis is too. Almost all recent mass shootings were the result of it.
My wife takes way more than $5 a day.
"wife bad" is peak boomer humor.
Who said she wasn’t worth it?
What an absolute legend you are mate
I voted AI, it's literally not real. You can still have genuine social interactions with someone you paid for. And in some cases you can't pay someone enough to be your friend if you're a terrible person. AI literally has no choice but to be with you
This is an interesting point
I hate AI with a burning passion so I'd say that option.
It's possible to end up with no friends through no fault of your own, paying for a real person to do it is worse than if it it was AI, unless you're also paying for the AI

Sure, but that's probably much easier said than done when it comes to a real person as opposed to just text on a screen.
Yes, also true.

It’s exactly even right now, 123 to 123. I think paying is worse, since you can’t get someone to be your actual friend, even an ai.
It doesn't imply that this person CAN'T get AI to be their friend, only that they have chosen a different way. AI will be "friends" with anyone, even more so if you pay.
You pay about $20 per month for the AI, anyway, so it kinda worst of both worlds.
$240 per year for the AI vs $1825 per year for the hoe, plus you can use the AI for actually useful things. Pluuus there are AIs you can run on your own system for free anyways.
Hoe - nice. being paid the equivalent of a cup of coffee for friendship makes her a hoe
Kinda? Otherwise she could be their friend without taking their money lel. Isnt it also factual, that some people pay sexworkers just to talk or cuddle in bed with no sex involved? Burning up the earth to pretend you have a living friend is hella embarrassing
At least with the second option, an actual human is making money
while paying someone to be your friend is ridiculous, at least it's a real human being. even a fake connection like that could give you confidence enough to make a real friend. hopefully, anyway
AI at least does what ever it's told to.
Having to bribe in order to have someone act like a friend is far worse.
Are you paying for an AI premium plan?
At least the girl is an actual human with a consciousness. AI makes people psychotic. And also chatGPT premium also costs money.
How is this one of the most difficult decisions I've made all year lol? I only chose the AI one because the paying someone to be your friend feels more sad than embarrassing.

i would absolutely pay someone to be my friend.
AI doesnt even have emotion
Neither would be a friend.
