It's dangerous and fucked up, but if it were less dangerous and less fucked up it would be hilariously ironic that the advisory board of stopping disinformation got obliterated by the disinformation efforts of a couple of congressional MAGA shitlords in just three months. We desperately need some serious people in the government to regulate media so that misinformation campaigns can be curbed. But if such a board can't even beat the misinformation being spread about itself, then those people weren't up to the task. Some day when serious people can drive the bus again, I hope they set up a board that can be even a little bit effective at its stated purpose.
Who says they're falling for it? One of the reasons the Russian strategy has worked is because those within the US and Europe agree and support their aims. None of this would be working if there was a united front opposing it.

When my daughter was in elementary school, her class had a career exploration assignment where they would research a career and present it to the class. The teacher had to exclude “You Tuber/Online Influencer” because a majority of the class chose that as their career option.

My argument is that one does have to keep laser focused on the one thing, regardless of the distractions. For months there, the top comment on any Reddit news story about Trump or the US government in general was something along the lines of ‘That’s great. Release the Epstein files.’
Yes, other horrible and important things were also happening, but enough people understood that this issue was the vulnerability in Trump’s armor, the one issue that just might cause his ultimate downfall. And all it takes is a half assed effort from Trump and they flood the zone with positive news. I opened Facebook this morning which is how I keep track of what's going on in the small town I'm from. I saw several "how can anyone be against giving the troops a bonus?" posts being shared. And they're being shared by all the same people that were all in on "Epstein didn't kill himself" posts back when that was a Democratic conspiracy.
They way they can stay focused on a line of bullshit is honestly impressive. The economy is in shambles, inflation is out of control, and the trump administration is hiding the data. However, they seized on one fact, that the "Walmart Thanksgiving Basket" is cheaper this year then last year. Trump's surrogates hammered on this one point over thanksgiving, as if it's significant that one thing is cheaper. However, even a casual look at the fact shows that it is bullshit - the "Walmart basket" in 2025 contains fewer, and cheaper items than the basket in 2024 did, so the price is irrelevant (this is called "shrinkage"). But Trump's economic advisors consistently brought it up on TV interviews, and stuck to it even after being caled out, and I can assure you none of these guys shop at Walmart anyhow.
Nothing is going to happen unless Republicans do something. The problem is that in Trump's second term, every single Republican in all branches of the government are Trump sycophants as all of the non-sycophants have already been weeded out.
I don't know what it is going to take to get some, or most, of them to flip on Trump, but with everything that has already happened, and everything we already know that is out in the public, they still refuse to do anything.

Katie Johnson’s video statement that Trump raped her has been out for years. She was 13 at the time. He was elected despite this and despite being held civilly liable for raping E Jean Carroll. While I so far don’t see solid evidence behind the story about the newborn, we already know he’s a monster.
I agree but the letter is hard to deny. Jeffery Epstein, THE archetypal elite pedophile, wrote a suicide note to Larry Nassar, a convicted child molester, openly stating that the president was a pedophile. Not in an accusatory tone but in lament of how different the three turned out.

WASHINGTON, DC – As the Department of Justice (DoJ) engages in a daily drip-feed of documents relating to Jeffrey Epstein, it seems evident that any strategic effort to protect Donald Trump from the most damaging files in the government’s possession is not working.
Members of Congress are accusing the government of dragging its heels on the promised release of all files relating to the deceased, sex-trafficking financier. Even some of Trump’s “Make America Great Again” supporters have turned on him, with his one-time ally Marjorie Taylor Greene on Tuesday sharing a screenshot from the files and saying that only “evil people would hide this and protect those who participated”.
Other Maga figures, including Steve Bannon and conspiracist Laura Loomer, have criticised the administration for its handling of the matter. The Epstein files have torn through Trump’s base, with typically supportive Fox News hosts warning in the summer that Trump risked losing support over the matter.
The US President is now twisting in the wind as reporters wait for each batch of files placed into the public domain. On Monday, the release of an additional 30,000 documents, emails and images raised fresh questions for Trump, who makes numerous appearances throughout the files.
Most damaging of all is a bombshell letter apparently written by Epstein from prison in 2019, which appears to show he planned to kill himself, and was determined to drag Trump’s name into his sordid circle as he departed this world.
In the letter to Larry Nassar, the disgraced former US gymnastics team doctor serving consecutive prison terms for sexual assaults and possession of child pornography, the writer claims “our president also shares our love of young, nubile girls”.
“When a young beauty walked by he loved to ‘grab snatch’, whereas we ended up snatching grub in the mess halls of the [prison] system … Life is unfair,” notes the writer.
“As you will know by now, I have taken the ‘short route’ home,” reads the handwritten note, signed with Epstein’s name and postmarked 13 August, three days after he was found dead.
“Good luck!” the author wishes Nassar. “We shared one thing … our love and caring for young ladies and the hope they reach their full potential.”
The letter was eventually returned to the New York jail where he died, after the US postal service proved unable to deliver it to Nassar.
As news of the letter’s contents spread on Tuesday, the DoJ managed to feed the concerns of Trump’s Maga faithful that a cover-up is under way. Seemingly caught off guard by the attention the letter was receiving, the DoJ issued a statement on X saying officials were “currently looking into the validity of this alleged letter from Jeffrey Epstein to Larry Nassar and we will follow up as soon as possible”.
A mere two hours later, department officials claimed to have received clarity regarding a letter that the Associated Press reported was in the government’s possession as far back as June 2023. “The FBI has confirmed this alleged letter…is FAKE. The fake letter was received by the jail, and flagged for the FBI at the time,” said the DoJ on X.
The FBI reportedly concluded the handwriting does not match Epstein’s; the letter bore a postmark from Virginia, not New York; and did not include Epstein’s inmate number as required by prison regulations. All of that may be true, but why the DoJ was unprepared for the predictable reaction to the letter’s explosive contents has again raised serious questions about the process behind the scenes.
Uncontested in the latest document dump is the revelation that Trump travelled on Epstein’s private jet far more than he previously admitted. A memo from an Assistant US Attorney, whose identity is redacted, warns another official whose identity is also obscured that flight records show Trump “is listed as a passenger on at least eight flights between 1993 and 1996, including at least 4 flights on which [Epstein’s girlfriend Ghislaine] Maxwell was also present”.
The prosecutor warns that on one flight in 1993, Trump and Epstein “are the only two listed passengers”. On another, the only three listed passengers are Epstein, Trump, and a then 20-year-old whose name is also redacted. “I didn’t want any of this to be a surprise down the road,” wrote the US attorney in an email sent on 8 January 2020 while Trump was serving his first term in the White House.
Trump’s second term has not even seen its first full year, yet the Epstein scandal is tearing his support base apart. Congressman Thomas Massie, a dissident Maga Republican from Kentucky, accused Attorney General Pam Bondi of “working fervently to redact, omit and delete Epstein files she is legally required to release”. Together with Democrat Ro Khanna of California, he is drafting articles of impeachment to lay against Bondi, accusing her of a “bogus Epstein release …protecting the rich, powerful and politically connected”.
Trump ran for office promising to release all the files, harnessing the support of right-wing conspiracy theorists who had long made claims about a secret sex-trafficking ring involving powerful people.
Now, the questions are mounting for Trump, and are only underscored by the hapless behaviour of his Department of Justice. His conduct could be innocent, but many of his supporters want to know why his own government is managing to make him look guilty.

My take on it is that it's a genuine letter but it seems to have been written specifically to be inflammatory so the truthfulness is questionable. Epstein wrote it to an extremely notorious person, both currently in federal prison, that he had no connection to. He knew it would be read by federal authorities and had incentive to make salacious claims on his way out as a final middle finger to Trump.
That said, I completely believe the claims. Just saying that this specific letter isn't the best to focus on.

They way they can stay focused on a line of bullshit is honestly impressive. The economy is in shambles, inflation is out of control, and the trump administration is hiding the data. However, they seized on one fact, that the "Walmart Thanksgiving Basket" is cheaper this year then last year. Trump's surrogates hammered on this one point over thanksgiving, as if it's significant that one thing is cheaper. However, even a casual look at the fact shows that it is bullshit - the "Walmart basket" in 2025 contains fewer, and cheaper items than the basket in 2024 did, so the price is irrelevant (this is called "shrinkage"). But Trump's economic advisors consistently brought it up on TV interviews, and stuck to it even after being caled out, and I can assure you none of these guys shop at Walmart anyhow.

I agree but the letter is hard to deny. Jeffery Epstein, THE archetypal elite pedophile, wrote a suicide note to Larry Nassar, a convicted child molester, openly stating that the president was a pedophile. Not in an accusatory tone but in lament of how different the three turned out.
It's pretty easy to handwave away the infanticide as just an "accusation", they've have lots of practice doing that. It's much harder to ignore the letter.

WASHINGTON, DC – As the Department of Justice (DoJ) engages in a daily drip-feed of documents relating to Jeffrey Epstein, it seems evident that any strategic effort to protect Donald Trump from the most damaging files in the government’s possession is not working.
Members of Congress are accusing the government of dragging its heels on the promised release of all files relating to the deceased, sex-trafficking financier. Even some of Trump’s “Make America Great Again” supporters have turned on him, with his one-time ally Marjorie Taylor Greene on Tuesday sharing a screenshot from the files and saying that only “evil people would hide this and protect those who participated”.
Other Maga figures, including Steve Bannon and conspiracist Laura Loomer, have criticised the administration for its handling of the matter. The Epstein files have torn through Trump’s base, with typically supportive Fox News hosts warning in the summer that Trump risked losing support over the matter.
The US President is now twisting in the wind as reporters wait for each batch of files placed into the public domain. On Monday, the release of an additional 30,000 documents, emails and images raised fresh questions for Trump, who makes numerous appearances throughout the files.
Most damaging of all is a bombshell letter apparently written by Epstein from prison in 2019, which appears to show he planned to kill himself, and was determined to drag Trump’s name into his sordid circle as he departed this world.
In the letter to Larry Nassar, the disgraced former US gymnastics team doctor serving consecutive prison terms for sexual assaults and possession of child pornography, the writer claims “our president also shares our love of young, nubile girls”.
“When a young beauty walked by he loved to ‘grab snatch’, whereas we ended up snatching grub in the mess halls of the [prison] system … Life is unfair,” notes the writer.
“As you will know by now, I have taken the ‘short route’ home,” reads the handwritten note, signed with Epstein’s name and postmarked 13 August, three days after he was found dead.
“Good luck!” the author wishes Nassar. “We shared one thing … our love and caring for young ladies and the hope they reach their full potential.”
The letter was eventually returned to the New York jail where he died, after the US postal service proved unable to deliver it to Nassar.
As news of the letter’s contents spread on Tuesday, the DoJ managed to feed the concerns of Trump’s Maga faithful that a cover-up is under way. Seemingly caught off guard by the attention the letter was receiving, the DoJ issued a statement on X saying officials were “currently looking into the validity of this alleged letter from Jeffrey Epstein to Larry Nassar and we will follow up as soon as possible”.
A mere two hours later, department officials claimed to have received clarity regarding a letter that the Associated Press reported was in the government’s possession as far back as June 2023. “The FBI has confirmed this alleged letter…is FAKE. The fake letter was received by the jail, and flagged for the FBI at the time,” said the DoJ on X.
The FBI reportedly concluded the handwriting does not match Epstein’s; the letter bore a postmark from Virginia, not New York; and did not include Epstein’s inmate number as required by prison regulations. All of that may be true, but why the DoJ was unprepared for the predictable reaction to the letter’s explosive contents has again raised serious questions about the process behind the scenes.
Uncontested in the latest document dump is the revelation that Trump travelled on Epstein’s private jet far more than he previously admitted. A memo from an Assistant US Attorney, whose identity is redacted, warns another official whose identity is also obscured that flight records show Trump “is listed as a passenger on at least eight flights between 1993 and 1996, including at least 4 flights on which [Epstein’s girlfriend Ghislaine] Maxwell was also present”.
The prosecutor warns that on one flight in 1993, Trump and Epstein “are the only two listed passengers”. On another, the only three listed passengers are Epstein, Trump, and a then 20-year-old whose name is also redacted. “I didn’t want any of this to be a surprise down the road,” wrote the US attorney in an email sent on 8 January 2020 while Trump was serving his first term in the White House.
Trump’s second term has not even seen its first full year, yet the Epstein scandal is tearing his support base apart. Congressman Thomas Massie, a dissident Maga Republican from Kentucky, accused Attorney General Pam Bondi of “working fervently to redact, omit and delete Epstein files she is legally required to release”. Together with Democrat Ro Khanna of California, he is drafting articles of impeachment to lay against Bondi, accusing her of a “bogus Epstein release …protecting the rich, powerful and politically connected”.
Trump ran for office promising to release all the files, harnessing the support of right-wing conspiracy theorists who had long made claims about a secret sex-trafficking ring involving powerful people.
Now, the questions are mounting for Trump, and are only underscored by the hapless behaviour of his Department of Justice. His conduct could be innocent, but many of his supporters want to know why his own government is managing to make him look guilty.

It reads as if it was written in advance, and an attempt to mail it to Nassar happened after Epstein was “suicided” by someone he trusted. He knew it was coming
My take on it is that it's a genuine letter but it seems to have been written specifically to be inflammatory so the truthfulness is questionable. Epstein wrote it to an extremely notorious person, both currently in federal prison, that he had no connection to. He knew it would be read by federal authorities and had incentive to make salacious claims on his way out as a final middle finger to Trump.
That said, I completely believe the claims. Just saying that this specific letter isn't the best to focus on.
