Because this is information from someone in 2020, 36 years after the incident was claimed to occur. This is bait. This was during the 2020 election season, it would make sense to call in with bogus info to try to smear Trumps campaign, and so they can spin this as slander and that none of this is true, and that the story goes so far as to include an infanticide, making it even more incredulous. It's not a serious federal crime to file a false report. 18 USC 1001 requires the government to prove beyond a reasonable doubt the false statement was "knowingly and willfully" submitted.

I grew up with the idea that one should live in a manner that was consistent with laws and religious codes of morality and ethics. If one did not behave in that manner, one would, at some point, be held accountable for their misdeeds. At some point, justice would catch up to them. I feel certain that many MAGA feel the same way, as my relatives and past associates grew up in the same culture. It's a very simple code; live right because it's the right thing to do, stray, and you will be caught, punished, and banished. The president, like all public leaders, was supposed to be the paragon of those values.
Yet, here we are, the president is a paragon not of the old codes of behavior but of a full repudiation of them. Worst of all, the people I grew up with and their families accept that and glorify him for his repudiation, and that he has never been held to account for the things he has done. I am more upset at them for having separate standards for him than they would for themselves and their next-door neighbors.
Their codes mean nothing. They are hollow. The religion they had is likewise meaningless because they will not hold the highest to the same account as the lowest. They have forfeited the moral high ground. They can no longer use their codes and religions as a club to bully people. I grew up with the idea that one should live in a manner that was consistent with laws and religious codes of morality and ethics. If one did not behave in that manner, one would, at some point, be held accountable for their misdeeds. At some point, justice would catch up to them. I feel certain that many MAGA feel the same way, as my relatives and past associates grew up in the same culture. It's a very simple code; live right because it's the right thing to do, stray, and you will be caught, punished, and banished. The president, like all public leaders, was supposed to be the paragon of those values.
Yet, here we are, the president is a paragon not of the old codes of behavior but of a full repudiation of them. Worst of all, the people I grew up with and their families accept that and glorify him for his repudiation, and that he has never been held to account for the things he has done. I am more upset at them for having separate standards for him than they would for themselves and their next-door neighbors.
Their codes mean nothing. They are hollow. The religion they had is likewise meaningless because they will not hold the highest to the same account as the lowest. They have forfeited the moral high ground. They can no longer use their codes and religions as a club to bully people. The religious no longer guard the high ground; they play in the swamp with the lowest and praise him.

- Epstein had bad penmanship and was a terrible speller.
- Why is Epstein enamored with Nassar? Why reach out to confess to a crime where you could conceivably fight the judicial system and get off on a technicality? Why would you associate yourself with a chronic abuser of young women? And why would you implicate someone else in unsolicited fashion? Nothing about that tracks with someone who methodically got away with raping young women for decades.

It's quite (very) likely that Epstein didn't kill himself. And if a letter that wasn't sent from this prison ended up being found in this prison, then that's damning evidence that Epstein definitely didn't kill himself.
I agree with your cynicism about the authenticity of this handwritten postcard. To me the note reads a lot like a fake “anonymous letter” a sneaky teenager mught write in hopes of not getting busted for something.
A man with Epstein’s ego and connections would not view Nassar as an equal, and he would not share incriminating facts through prison mail. Why would JE write to a stranger and share that he was going to escape thru suicide?
Instead, I think some of the documents in the “DOJ release” were invented by Trump’s people. A salacious note from JE to Nassar wherein JE shares his suicide plan while also mentioning Donnie’s “crotch grabbing” is quite suspect. The entire world already knows that Donnie likes to “grab them by the pussy” so putting this fact in a planted note is not harmful to Donnie.
That is a very plausible theory, especially that the DOJ prefaced the release with the disclaimer that "we're releasing these documents but just so you know, these are fake." Simply an attempt to cast doubt on the whole process of releasing the information by making you question anything you read.

The letter could’ve been a dog whistle to Trump in an attempt to threaten the incriminating/embarrassing info he had on the President.
The correspondence may have served to intimidate Trump into helping him while also maintaining a possible future legal defense, in which Epstein portrays himself as a wealthy man who enjoyed consensual sex with woman whom he wanted to “help” fulfill their potential in life.

I think Trump is a horrible, sadistic rapist. However, journalistic investigations into this particular piece, by the NYT and others, have concluded that it's fake. It is a document that's in the files, but it is something someone concocted.
