Daniel Petersen early candidate for hand of the year
  • 143 points Calichusetts

To think that I called my stack off on the flop yesterday with 2 pair and this dude is folding quads

    parent
  • 78 points Sad-Copy-498

A Brazilian folding in blind war, actually hand of the year

    parent
  • 55 points TruePlayya

    Who folds quads lol

    parent
  • 50 points poperey

This video is why people say “I’m beat but I have to call anyway”

    parent
  • 197 points tswpoker1

Early candidate for stupidest reddit thread of the year

    parent
    10 points TimmyTimeify

Nothing like a poker video to get all of the most braindead people imaginable to make 70IQ attempts at analysis based on the most obvious results-based thinking alive.

Ouch sick burn my friend 🔥 🔥 🤯

    parent root
  • 105 points WallyLeftshaw

I don’t care what the runout is, who tf folds quads. Also a limped pot between the blinds is not a “hand of the year” candidate

    parent
  • 26 points Rain_sc2

If my entire net worth was on the line I'm never folding quads

    parent
  • 19 points cmullins77

Only time I’m folding quads is if the villain shows me their cards and I’m beat.

    parent
    2 points Gubbbo

    Even then...

    parent root
  • 33 points freshmozart

One 9 vs all the Aces and kings and this opponent decides to fold 4444. That doesn't sound right.

    parent
    17 points fedsocrules

My brother in christ, please figure out how combos work

    parent root
    -4 points freshmozart

I see 999 on the board, so what's the chance we have the fourth nine? From the opponents POV it's more likely that we have some aces or kings.

    parent root
    -1 points TimmyTimeify

"All the aces and kings" lmao. Actually laughable. Silly. Stupid. lol.

This is a limped BvB. The hero literally can have every single combo of 9x in the deck except *maybe* T9ss and 98ss they 3-bet bluff, and they would play it exactly like this. There are no natural bluff candidates either.

    parent root
    -3 points freshmozart

But the three nines on the board make it less likely for us to have the last 9. The river is a card we can't have (from the opponents POV). That increases the chance for us to have some other combos. Maybe A10, J10, something like that.

    parent root
    -9 points TimmyTimeify

    You literally cannot do math.

There are 16x combos of 92.

There are 16x combos of 93.

There are 16x combos of 94.

There are 16x combos of 95.

There are 16x combos of 96.

There are 16x combos of 97.

There are 16x combos of 98.

There are 16x combos of T9.

There are 16x combos of J9.

There are 16x combos of Q9.

There are 16x combos of K9.

There are 16x combos of A9.

For a total of 192 combos of 9x.

Let’s say that the hero raises 10% of there combos pre flop. With the third 9 out there, that now eliminates all but… 43 combos of 9x.

Let’s compare this to “all of the combos of AA and KK”, which, considering you think that AA and KK will play a check-back, bet-call, bet-call, jam line, is 12 combos.

Blockers on the board is an incredibly overrated stat when the ranges are this wide.

    parent root
    5 points freshmozart

I did not mean AA and KK, I meant every hand with one A or K and most likely a weak kicker (because of the preflop check).

    parent root
    3 points Jewbacca289

Just 4 combos of each of those 9x hands right?

    parent root
  • 16 points BetaCarotine20mg

Wait wtf is this? Its total buyins 6000$ right? Nobody at 6000$ buyin would ever fold 44 here and show it lol. Stupid hand but funny AF.

    parent
    21 points QuickyGaming

$66 tournament, the guy streaming's total buying for the day had been $6000

    parent root
  • 6 points FluffysBizarreBricks

Why on earth would they fold a quad pair?

    parent
    9 points e36mikee

I guess he thinks he only has a 9 and is never bluffing with his line.

    parent root
  • 5 points bman0920

I’ve folded a straight flush before. My opponent had a royal flush. Not even joking

    parent
    2 points onedarkhorsee

Ive seen a guy flop a straight flush before and his opponent has sucked out to a higher straight flush, you should have seen the look on his face

I am curious: I assume these streams are delayed right? otherwise, anyone recognizing the streamer could just tune in and see his hands

    parent
    13 points Who_is_him_hehe

Yes some do as much as 5 minutes

    parent root
  • 1 points ForeverShiny

Check-folding is just the worst, eew.

You could at least bet and then consider folding to a jam, but just check-folding this when your hand looks pretty weak in this line just seems absurd

    parent
    1 points TimmyTimeify

double-check raising "looks pretty weak" GTFO lmao

    parent root
    1 points ForeverShiny

    There's check-raising and check-raising: he raised a B30 and a B25 bet.

It also looked weak enough to be called by A high twice, but what do I know

    parent root
    1 points SecondDumbUsername

Yes, it was sb vs bb. And the c-raises were small. Folding that river pot bet is just bonkers.

    parent root
  • 1 points PokerBandido

    Poker is rigged confirmed

    parent
  • 1 points HeavyDescription7

I would fold 44 in this line vs most people and most regs, but the snap calling doesn't really seem like 9x to me.

also lol at the x/r to 3.5 with the absolute nuts, maybe they have history but jesus christ let him float with 0 equity

    parent
  • 1 points Canter_Pi

If you’re folding quads, poker isn’t for you.

    parent
  • 1 points Outside_Attention_88

folding quads because you dont have blockers to better quads

People need to get their shit together and forget about gto for a minute

    parent
  • -2 points kinance

The guy is so stupid why didn’t be just jam earlier on flop or turn or river if ur not going to call.

    parent
    7 points TimmyTimeify

LMAO you are a silly person.

If you have 44 there, the 3rd nine is literally the only card in the deck that you hate lmao. Every other card that hits the river feels like a money printer.

    parent root
    2 points WordShots22

You don't just jam a full house on flop or turn unless you believe villain's an absolute call station. Great suggestion if you hate making money most of the time.

    parent root
    1 points kinance

Thats like my whole point if hes gonna played like a scared puss then just jam and win the pot early and not try to maximize ev

    parent root
    0 points kinance

U do if ur scared of a 9 with quads… if he trying to make money he shouldnt be folding on river

    parent root
  • -3 points fedsocrules

I’m never folding 44 because BB can just be spazzing with bluffs, but smooth brains ITT think 44 is beating value given this line is hilarious

    parent
    5 points doogie1993

Could probably value bet big pairs trying to get a call from a 55+ that is assuming you’re trying to bet them off a chop as the big stack and heroing. 44 beats that.

    parent root
    4 points fedsocrules

Extremely unlikely for BB to be checking back preflop most higher pocket pairs and then value jamming river with those boats after the line when SB’s range by the river is polarized to bluffs that can’t call or traps that have BB beat

Wasnt this stupid post already made? Why are we seeing it again?

    And yet, no one cares.

Looks like soft play/chip dumping anyway.

    parent root
  • -7 points whatstappanin

Wow what a shove I mean if you’re holding quads there and someone shoves on you with that run out what can you do

    parent
    31 points patiofurnature

    Well... calling comes to mind.

    parent root
    3 points xkey

    And win? Wrong subreddit buddy.

    parent root
    -2 points whatstappanin

I’m not saying I’m folding I’m just saying what is calling there on the turn besides a nine

    parent root
    7 points patiofurnature

    AA-55

    parent root
    2 points reilly2231

Most of those hands isolate preflop vs a limp.

    parent root
    -6 points whatstappanin

He called two check raises repping the 9 I understand it’s a bad fold but aces is not calling a check raise on the turn there

    parent root
    0 points browni3141

    A-high for one example.

    parent root
    9 points Mysterious-Bag9288

?? You for sure call. You beat all boats and Hero is shoving a lot of boats

    parent root
    -1 points whatstappanin

I am calling there but I can see why he folded the river shove

    parent root
    0 points fedsocrules

Be real for a sec, how many boats does BB have after checking back the flop? You and I both know you’re not checking back the flop with a strong pocket pair when limped to and you’re IP.

    parent root
    2 points BetaCarotine20mg

You kidding right? Lmao so crazy.

    parent root
    1 points whatstappanin

I am calling with pocket fours their

    parent root
  • -2 points nbahangtime14

44s should have block bet the river

    parent
    1 points SecondDumbUsername

Lol. He actually did everything perfect to set up BB to bluff at it. Except the fold, which is pure insanity
