Did not like him at first, when I saw how much trouble he causes his sister and the fact he just genuinely is trying to do good but is sadly an idiot, I started loving him
He gives the vibe that he used to think pokemon battling was training yourself to fight pokemon, would not be surprised if hes still unsure its not that
Same thing in the DLC when you go through the 1st portal. Too bad the game never delivers anything afterwards like it is self aware but not that much so it leads to nothing
To be fair, it’s a special donut recipe Ansha made specifically to go good with curry. “Savory fried dough” is far from a bad thing to pair with something spicy.
Do you really think Naveen would publicly tell a 5-8 year old child with a passion for baking that the food was atrocious? He's not a monster.
Actually Taurbaine was the worst one here, leveraging a child's passion to feed Naveen something he dislikes, knowing Naveen wouldn't dare hurt Ansha's feelings.
I dunno, even with that he was very like "I'm a huge fan but she deserves privacy. I don't want to bother her in real life." He isn't a crazy fanboy, he's a massive fan who respects her as a person.
Honestly, I wouldn't even mind if it was just the curry over the croissants. It's the fact that they kept the rice portion and stacked it that high. Way too many grains for one meal.
I accidentally fell off the building a few times while trying to figure out which way to go. Let’s just say Corbeau was not pleased being used as a step stool repeatedly.
This moment. I was giggling so hard climbing slowly as possible back and forth. After what happened, I couldn't resist but jump down without hesitation. I have never laughed harder in my life playing a Pokémon game.
To be fair, they did try more sensible options first, and only resorted to the ladder when everything else got wrecked by rouge megas and they were out of time.
Is he? Predatory loan sharks typically operate above the law, just in the scummiest way possible. And this guy apparently uses his predatory loans to… force people into community service for the city? If this guy is a crime boss then Guzma is Al Capone.
I thought to myself "What else were they supposed to do!?" and 2 seconds in I was like "Wait Philippe literally has a Skarmory that could just fly us up there." so I suppose he does have a lack of common sense. But I suppose it worked in the end.
Pretty sure it was knocked out at that point, but even if it wasn’t…I don’t want to be carried by the Pokémon with metal bird claws specifically for carrying off prey
It was something to save the city (and even the world). But the trainer could have used a flying pokémon (not guaranteed that you would have one, though).
I kinda like how most people in Pokémon games are missing braincells and there's this one guy who's semi-normal and has to keep everyone on a leash (Penny during the Area Zero expedition lmao)
That’s because Vinnie is doing his job well. He runs support so you can have adventures without him seeking the limelight. Truly the game’s unsung hero
I feel like Vinnie’s the skill check. If you’ve learned the game mechanics he ain’t so tough. But if you’re still getting some of them down (like I was) his Drampa is a living disaster
I was so EXCITED about Drampa, one of my favorite Pokémon from Sun and Moon, getting a Mega i forget to battle, and was almost destroyed. you'll think I learned a lesson when Phillipe used Mega Skamory... nope I was so gobsmacked about it 2 minutes later I lost and realized I forget to battle lol. I have the battle mechanics no issue at all. Just Megas surprised me so much.
ORAS make Aqua/Magma's plan even stupider.
"We need to improve the world by making it more like ancient times, when it was seeped in primal energy and two kaijus were constantly fighting each other and destroying everything"
"OH CRAP! I somehow didn't realize that awakening a kaiju would do exactly what all of my scientists said it would! That's not good, actually!"
Tbh they're about as qualified as the actual adults in this franchise considering how they act. Not even the champions seem capable of being rational people lmao
Only ones I can think of that do are Alder, Leon and Lance, everyone else is infuriatingly hands off with regards to the crisis going around. Hell Cynthia flat out goes missing from the story for the entire lake bombing plot and isn't seen again until either the final fight (DP) or at Spear Pillar (Platinum)
I’ve recently played through Emerald again and he matters exactly four times:
-Getting the letter to him
-Devon Scope
-Helping you stop Team Magma at the Space Center
-Helping you get into the Cave of Origin
Aside from that, there’s also his Meteor Falls battle and the Beldum in the post-game. I will always be confused on why Steven was replaced as Champion when he really still doesn’t do much. Out of the four things I listed, only the Team Magma thing is unique to Emerald.
I kinda got the vibe that she's a jealous friend. Like, she isn't just a virtual follower of Canari but her irl friend, so while it may not be healthy, it would make sense to me that she is a little uncomfortable with the people with a parasocial relationship with her.
I think it is the opposite; she thinks people should be obsessed with Canari. That quest on which she argues with Terragon about it is very much about how she thinks only hardcore fans (so the most parasocial ones) should be considered fans at all, while Terragon thinks casual fans are fine too.
Idk. Canari’a reaction to Taragon building an entire fucking obstacle course at the end was the best example of someone reacting to someone else’s lack of sense
I also like how she’s the only one to be like, why doesn’t zygarde just come to us then? For a person who stuck you in a tiny space and had a bunch of oversized pokemon shoot laser beams at you for content, she is generally a voice of reason.
Surprised there's no Canari, asking why Zygarde doesn't just come to us instead of us trying to make our way through an apocalyptic city to it in the finale
Canari is weird but like. She's just doing what she loves, and her grandfather is being super weird about it. When it comes to she's super 'sane' (in Pokemon terms anyway) and like. Weird fans say things and she reacts with a skeeved face and 'or you could not be weird' type comments. There's a later DLC interaction between her and Naveen and it was... Funny. She drags him.
Let’s be so honest. Lida and Naveen are not only the only two in Lumiose that have common sense, but also the only two that likely would avoid jail time in the court of law.
The rest of us are chaotic goofball criminals through and through.
Eh, Lida has about as much sense as RSE May/Brendan (they claim to be researchers yet fail to do arguably one of the most important things: fully evolve their starter. Thank Arceus ORAS fixed this).
I was doing a quest a few hours ago where he said he was living here to gain some confidence so it might be why she’s pushing him since she knows the player and team MZ are a safe space?
Later on towards the end he says that he knows he needs to improve both his skills and his opinion of himself to be able to face his grandma and he is also supportive of Lida’s dream so maybe that’s just how the both of them try the other to make them leave their comfort zone?
honestly kinda on the edge by corbeau and him defending jett. Like, is it really the people's fault that the wild zone thing happened in the first place? I think corbeau plays favorites and that makes sense since he's a yakuza ish boss
Because offering "help" to friends without making them read the fine print about exorbitant interest rates (or simply include fine print and exorbitant interest rates), and then extorting the debtor's innocent friends when they come to negotiate, is something Kiryu would do, of course /s
Do not sleep on the NPC's because they help you more than you think. I did not realize just how much until I had to fight the simulation of Tyranitar one on one. Naveen helped me a lot more than I initially realized.
in the DLC the NPCs now help you a whole lot more and actually contributed to some of my battles where I messed up badly with the Pokemon in the quest (like I done goofed up with one of the later legendaries, it rightfully slapped me around and went dude you knew this)
Yes and that's why they are fun : because these are the only one with common sense. Without the chaos, the order is boring. (yo socrates it's a fucking cookie)
It’s not that she doesn’t want to evolve her Staryu, I think she just couldn’t afford a water stone until Phillipe “accidentally” dropped one into her hands.
Which is reasonable, but she still doesn't immediately use it when she does get it either.
She then has the nerve to ask if they're being helpful after not evolving her Pokemon, nor using its Mega against another Mega-evolved Pokemon that's only weakness is mega-energy infused attacks.
I feel like there might have been also a tiny bit of 'how does Staryu feel' and 'I don't want to pressure my partner and MAKE Staryu mega evomve' but also I seem to remember her being afraid Starmie would not be as CUTE as Staryu so.
THANK YOU😭😭 Lida babysitting Naveen and fighting for her life while Taunie/Urbain try their best to make terrible decisions at every turn. The protag just blindly going along with it all as if most of these guys aren’t on something. Honestly Lida’s a saint🙏
As much as we love Ivor’s himbo energy, common sense has left with the braincell
If him and Leon ever met, they’d go rampaging off in a random direction and never be seen again.
A trio of Leon, Ivor, ane Nemona would cause more destruction than any evil team
Don't forget Jacinthe as Kalos's resident battle-hungry maniac!
Put Jacinthe, Nemona and Ivor in one room and see what happens
People will... get the wrong idea about all the racket, especially if that room is still in the hotel.
Still end up with a kid out of it somehow, a la Goku.
Day Care Man hears about the news and says "See! What did I tell you?? They just appear out of nowhere!"
!!!

He looks familiar
Now now, that's not fair.
Nemona is actually capable of being sane about battling at times.
death
He gave it to Gwynn
Yep. If anyone could be trusted with the braincell, it’s Gwynn
not just the braincell, but the phone too :3
She got all the brains. He got all the muscle
He was on the right track with not using a smartphone but the CTE was strong with him
Did not like him at first, when I saw how much trouble he causes his sister and the fact he just genuinely is trying to do good but is sadly an idiot, I started loving him
He gives the vibe that he used to think pokemon battling was training yourself to fight pokemon, would not be surprised if hes still unsure its not that
Ivor mentioned

All I hear is All Might’s voice when Ivor speaks 💀
I hear Travis Willingham's Thor voice
I hear Indus Epithet Erased's
BARRIER
He's the orange cat of the group
I love when him and Jacinthe both look at each other like "did we just become best friends?"
Ivor is very orange cat coded.
https://preview.redd.it/kptom7icau8g1.png?width=1080&format=png&auto=webp&s=9b252247201547996a7aa1340b45c998e905af1a
Naveen serves an important role on Team MZ: he keeps the team’s collective single brain cell safe.
That's until Canari is mentioned, then he passes it onto Lida
Like Hot Potato.
So Urbain/Taunie must have taken out that loan during a Canari stream
Until he starts watching a Canari stream
He gets to the Cloud District pretty often.
Wait wrong guy!
Do you watch Canari's streams very often?
Oh what am I saying. Of course you don't.
Unfortunately for you,
I am
High KingRank A.Naveen is my favorite, dude just has the right energy throughout
There were so many times when I was like "Thank you, Naveen, finally someone is making sense". He's definitely my favorite
He called out AZ's BS too, which is a nice change of pace tbh.
Same thing in the DLC when you go through the 1st portal. Too bad the game never delivers anything afterwards like it is self aware but not that much so it leads to nothing
didnt he also went "wtf why do Floette have MC energy enough to Mega Evolve, when normally they can evolve?" which, you know, is a good point.
He really does but this still made me laugh
https://preview.redd.it/ktxhpnc7hw8g1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=1bc24462e73b2faadb267afc4e6780def14838d5
Yet, Naveen somehow changed his mind after Taunie/Urbain made him try the donut croissant curry she/he made with Ansha
To be fair, it’s a special donut recipe Ansha made specifically to go good with curry. “Savory fried dough” is far from a bad thing to pair with something spicy.
Keyword: "made with Ansha"
Do you really think Naveen would publicly tell a 5-8 year old child with a passion for baking that the food was atrocious? He's not a monster.
Actually Taurbaine was the worst one here, leveraging a child's passion to feed Naveen something he dislikes, knowing Naveen wouldn't dare hurt Ansha's feelings.
To be fair, her ingredients are out of this world
Naveen eventually tries out the croissant curry once during the main game as well
He's a sychophant for Canari. Kind of unhinged.
I dunno, even with that he was very like "I'm a huge fan but she deserves privacy. I don't want to bother her in real life." He isn't a crazy fanboy, he's a massive fan who respects her as a person.
Also Gwynn is being accepted as rational by this post, yet from what's shown she's even worse about Canari, to the point that she seems to gatekeep.
That line alone made him my favorite character.
I love my deadpan king lol
Honestly, I wouldn't even mind if it was just the curry over the croissants. It's the fact that they kept the rice portion and stacked it that high. Way too many grains for one meal.
After the entire Canari segment I can’t stand him tbh
That shit was hilarious tbh, and the way he's so methodical with explaining why he watches her live cracked me up. Dude is unapologetically himself
i loved naveen in the canari quest!
“hey! you need this super special and uncommon lumiose galette that only her oldest most dedicated fans would know about… waiter! my usual!”
Yeah, his fandom isn't a detriment to his character, it just makes him better tbh
Corbeau does the human ladder thing. I think that disqualifies him from having common sense.
He just likes to feel tall and needed to get creative
Wdym?? It worked didn’t it??
Multiple times if you fall off!
https://preview.redd.it/n6t233iwgw8g1.jpeg?width=1920&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=f63ed0bf5f2107dea2da84a913c7d26c0185c7e1
I had to capture this because I fell off several times to see his reactions
People with common sense will go inside the building, go up stairs and go to the roof.
Bold of you to assume that buildings in legends ZA have an interior
That's why most people in ZA don't have common sense.
Bro this is a switch pokemon game, there is no such thing as going inside the building
I would agree if the city weren’t in tatters at the time with most building access blocked off
What's an "inside a building"
I accidentally fell off the building a few times while trying to figure out which way to go. Let’s just say Corbeau was not pleased being used as a step stool repeatedly.
From a lens of expectations for "evil" teams in the franchise, that was quite possibly the most successful teamwork any of them have ever pulled off.
truth nuke, Team Skull could never
it also helps that Phillipe is a huge guy so. but yeah oof.
Be glad they formed a human ladder and not a human Scolipede
That’s a disgusting reference
I know, humans are so icky.
if anything that makes him the most sensible one here
It worked, didn't it?
If it.seems like a dumb idea but it works, it ain't dumb
This moment. I was giggling so hard climbing slowly as possible back and forth. After what happened, I couldn't resist but jump down without hesitation. I have never laughed harder in my life playing a Pokémon game.
Oh yeah, I absolutely jumped down until it stopped letting me. Fantastic moment.
Was it the same sequence again or did they add something if you jumped off multiple times?
There's a couple of unique dialogues until you get blocked by an invisible wall
Corbeau gets more and more annoyed with you until you can't jump down anymore.
Counterargument: his goons couldn't bother to get a ladder, so HE had to do something.
To be fair, they did try more sensible options first, and only resorted to the ladder when everything else got wrecked by rouge megas and they were out of time.
it works though
He is also a crime boss, let's not forget that.
The protagonist is just goated, for him to respect us.
Is he? Predatory loan sharks typically operate above the law, just in the scummiest way possible. And this guy apparently uses his predatory loans to… force people into community service for the city? If this guy is a crime boss then Guzma is Al Capone.
He effectively employs indentured servitude, trapping people in debt to force them into employment for him, which then pays off the debt.
Definitely super illegal.
it's hilarious that you can just jump off the building and he have to get the ladder thing going again
As the saying goes, if it looks stupid but works, it isn't stupid.
I feel like that entire segment disqualified all 3. Because what could have possibly stopped us from just flying over everything?
It was something to save the city (and even the world). But the trainer could have used a flying pokémon (not guaranteed that you would have one, though).
I kinda like how most people in Pokémon games are missing braincells and there's this one guy who's semi-normal and has to keep everyone on a leash (Penny during the Area Zero expedition lmao)
People missing just enough and just the right type of braincells might be how they have an utopia compared to our world lmao
Larry
Why the hell are you excluding the man who keeps giving me ultra balls?! Vinnie is a gem, and I will not accept any slander.
Vinnie bears the most unique title of all:
“Responsible Adult.”
And we love him for this.
Crap I forget about him
That’s because Vinnie is doing his job well. He runs support so you can have adventures without him seeking the limelight. Truly the game’s unsung hero
Also, his battle was the first one that really put me on edge - that M-Drampa took out half my team before it went down. Such a great guy.
I feel like Vinnie’s the skill check. If you’ve learned the game mechanics he ain’t so tough. But if you’re still getting some of them down (like I was) his Drampa is a living disaster
I love what it says that Drampa is his ace. That Pokémon is kindness personified, it's so fitting for him.
He has the main tittle of dil--- i mean dad friend... yeah...
Yeah, yeah. Definitely just dad friend. And I have totally normal feelings for this dad friend.
Handing out Ultra Balls by day, aura farming with his key stone by night.
Vinnie gives you ultra balls?
I mean, this is a Pokemon game.
Who in this universe actually has any real common sense?
Brb gotta kill 'em all to restore beauty to the planet
There’s nothing suspicious behind this poster. Nope, I’m definitely not guarding anything.
There is no way we solve this energy crisis in a thousand years, I gotta summon satan.
Yknow, I think we need more land.
I need some alone time, creating a new universe sounds like a plan. 💡
I really HATE my children, trading them for aliens would be cool
I have low self esteem, yo.
And I wanna meet God.
Hmm, maybe making a death laser was a bad idea, Maybe I should make one to give back life, it'll definitely not backfire 2005 years in the future!
More water = more Pokemon!!!
I love how ORAS didn’t bother to have Team Aqua even attempt to make sense and turned them into a gang of idiots.
Yeah but it works out because they made Aqua into idiots.
Look at Archie. Does it look like that man thinks?
No sir it does not
Frankly, having three is way too many for Pokemon. Hell, ever Naveen speaks sense most of the time
Do you mean to tell me that 10-year-olds are not the most qualified individuals to solve apocalyptic events?
Tbh they're about as qualified as the actual adults in this franchise considering how they act. Not even the champions seem capable of being rational people lmao
Only ones I can think of that do are Alder, Leon and Lance, everyone else is infuriatingly hands off with regards to the crisis going around. Hell Cynthia flat out goes missing from the story for the entire lake bombing plot and isn't seen again until either the final fight (DP) or at Spear Pillar (Platinum)
Steven is pretty involved as well
Eeeeh, is he?
I don't remember much admittedly but I know in Gen 3 he only ever fights the evil teams in Emerald... Where he's not a champion anymore
And in ORAS he only does it during the Lati Twin quest. Which is definitely more than Cynthia, but still
Yeah I guess that’s true, in R/S he wasn’t super involved and come emerald they wrote him out of being champion because he was so involved elsewhere
Of course I will shut down my billion dollar business if your dog can beat up my chicken.
I wouldn't say Gwyn has thar much common sense when it comes to fandoms and gakepeeking, but otherwise, yeah. Love the three of them. And Naveen!

Weird fans say things and she reacts with a skeeved face and 'or you could not be weird' type comments. There's a later DLC interaction between her and Naveen and it was... Funny. She drags him.
Zygarde waited 10 years for his game so he could aura farm. Let him have this
Let’s be so honest. Lida and Naveen are not only the only two in Lumiose that have common sense, but also the only two that likely would avoid jail time in the court of law.
The rest of us are chaotic goofball criminals through and through.
Ghost type users always have common sense
Unless they're crypto bros who are trying to inflate Gengar card priced
Gengar Processing Units
Artificial Porygon Intelligence
Gwynn comes so close to greatness in sensibility but her terrible taste in women (Canari) is weighing her down
Look, every great character needs one flaw. If Gwynn's is being a disaster lesbian, I say we let her.
Thought that was Jacinthe and Labanne?
It's France, they can have as many disaster lesbians as they want.
I love how most of Lumiose’s insanity can be excused with “They’re French”
Im not sure about Gwynn. What the hell was that whole situation with the holovator near the rogue Ampharos?
A wild Pokémon messing around and her taking advantage of that fact.
Eh, Lida has about as much sense as RSE May/Brendan (they claim to be researchers yet fail to do arguably one of the most important things: fully evolve their starter. Thank Arceus ORAS fixed this).
Kinda pissed me off that she kept pressuring Naveen to talk about stuff when he clearly wasn’t comfortable with it.
In general it can be hard to judge friend group's boundaries with each other as an outsider.
honestly kinda on the edge by corbeau and him defending jett. Like, is it really the people's fault that the wild zone thing happened in the first place? I think corbeau plays favorites and that makes sense since he's a yakuza ish boss
we know from one of the side mission in DLC that Rust Syndicate has some dealing with Quasimoco. So he should defend his business partner.
A yakuza ish boss... If the Yakuza were awkwardly and aggressively cleaning up litter and saving kittens. But played straight every other way.
He's not a Yakuza boss (Japanese gangster) He's a Yakuza boss (Kiryu Kazuma video game Yakuza)
Because offering "help" to friends without making them read the fine print about exorbitant interest rates (or simply include fine print and exorbitant interest rates), and then extorting the debtor's innocent friends when they come to negotiate, is something Kiryu would do, of course /s
Naveen too. He even had to point out that Ansha needs to be supervised if she was going to make donuts.
A Team MZ member, the leader of the Rust Syndicate, and a Fist of Justice member?
Checks out
How would you explain the human ladder.
An example of successful teamwork.
Lida and Naveen play it straight, but them also being the canonically weaker trainers of the team seems to be saying something.
Naveen was like the only one to be up front on calling out AZ after he explains his story.
He's really sane unless and until Canari is involved. Then he's a total fan boy.
If every main series MC is to be believed, then the most powerful force in the franchise is “Fuck it, we ball”.
Becoming the Champion? Taking down a feared crime syndicate? Capturing a deity? Crushing the dreams of your neighbour by surpassing them completely?
Fuck it, we ball.
Do not sleep on the NPC's because they help you more than you think. I did not realize just how much until I had to fight the simulation of Tyranitar one on one. Naveen helped me a lot more than I initially realized.
in the DLC the NPCs now help you a whole lot more and actually contributed to some of my battles where I messed up badly with the Pokemon in the quest (like I done goofed up with one of the later legendaries, it rightfully slapped me around and went dude you knew this)
Naveen was the only guy in Team MZ concerned about hanging out with a genocidal terrorist
What do you mean, jacinthe is the person with the most common sense, all hail jacinthe.
Jacinthe city will be the new name for lumiose city.
Yes and that's why they are fun : because these are the only one with common sense. Without the chaos, the order is boring. (yo socrates it's a fucking cookie)
No coincidence that these are my 3 faves then
Naveen as long as Canari isn't mentioned.
He was the only with sense to call out AZ though lol that was deserved admittedly.
Jacinthe was based for forcefemming Lebanne tho
Lida won't even immediately evolve her Staryu when she gets a Water Stone she does not have common sense.
It’s not that she doesn’t want to evolve her Staryu, I think she just couldn’t afford a water stone until Phillipe “accidentally” dropped one into her hands.
Which is reasonable, but she still doesn't immediately use it when she does get it either.

I mean neither does Naveen and Urbain/Taunie despite them having an actual pokemon that can Mega
I was going to say Naveen, then I remembered he spends half of the game simping on Canari so nope
Canari: "Wait, why doesn't Zygarde just come to us?"
"Gramps you didn't need to build a giant obstacle course!"
Lida instead of Naveen, get outta heeeere lol
Yep
The real leader of team mz
That toxic little twink
And Canari's girlfriend with chandelier hyperfixation
Remove lida and I agree
While Naveen definitely lacks common sense with Canari I do agree with a lot of what he said with AZ so I’ll give him that at least
Naveen is allowed exactly one half of a common sense. The other half is incurable simp.
https://preview.redd.it/4wyojerqqx8g1.jpeg?width=1334&format=pjpg&auto=webp&s=d95f40001f2a3ec7a19370f1a4d6c4b1c138969e
Common sense its the least common
Where's Philipe? Dude is a wall of Common Sense.
Gwynn is a jerk to Ivor and a simp to canari
i'm sure i could agree if only i had the money for a switch 2 or the game TwT
This game was very fun I’m surprised more people didn’t love it
Gwynn mains my favorite ghost type, she's babygirl, of course she has common sense. she has to with a brother like Ivor.
THANK YOU😭😭 Lida babysitting Naveen and fighting for her life while Taunie/Urbain try their best to make terrible decisions at every turn. The protag just blindly going along with it all as if most of these guys aren’t on something. Honestly Lida’s a saint🙏
Naveen may be a tier 1 simp but the other 99% of the time he's just a dude who wants to make clothes and otherwise stays in his lane.
Correct. I feel like a stiff breeze is a threat to Lumiose because 99% of the population wouldn't know what to do.
Gwynn has like zero common sense
