His name is Hero and he attacked a fully grown buck yesterday when he slipped outside. He is around 20 years old. He’s usually a very vocal kitty but it’s been a day and he has not meowed once. Is there anything we can do to possibly help him?
It’s a shock to the system and he probably has some pain if he’s not on any pain management. He’s disoriented and confused. Just give him some time and love and cuddles. He’ll bounce back, but expect some depth perception issues like missing completely if he tries to jump somewhere. He’ll get used to it though. Welcome to the crew, he’s beautiful!!!
Thank you for the helpful tips, we discovered it was the cone that he doesn’t like and he is currently in the bathroom (with me supervising to make sure he doesn’t scratch his stitches) and he is meowing, purring, prancing, cuddling, and overall being the lovey dovey kitty he usually is!
My pirate kitty was very quiet for about 48 hours after surgery. Once she started eating again she got vocal
Thank that helps

Thank you so much! The vet gave him pills to manage the pain thankfully
Surgery is always traumatic and it sounds like he lost this to a buck? So he may also be having pride issues.
Thank you that’s what we think might be the case! He’s a very prideful kitty.
Be sure to tell him he put up a good fight
Poor baby! My cat was high as a kite from the painkillers for several days, it’ll take a little time but he should be back to normal soon
Thank you!

When he is not inside a small room being supervised he will wear the cone but we’re giving him little breaks like this :)
Thank you so much for these updates! He is a champion, and so are you.
One more update because he’s been doing so good, he is back to singing his usual songs and is being his normal chirpy self
