My helix took 3.5 years to heal because I was ignorant and didn't know that oversalting the water baths was chemically burning my piercing wound. So, it would heal for a bit and then get reallyyyy tender and get back to swollen and hot and then heal again, etc. This went on for YEARS until my now wife said to me "hey how much salt are you putting in there, isn't that too much?" Once I started measuring it, it took 6 months to heal. Yes, I admit it was dumb of me
I'm not a piercer, and I'm personally more of a face piercing type of person, BUT in my experience you can tell a piercing is healed when it's no longer tender and it's not producing crusties. The 95% might just mean it's tender sometimes or that the tissue of the fistula hasn't had enough time to mature, so it's TECHNICALLY not fully healed.
Hope this was helpful!
Thank you🥰, u can tell its not fully healed yet because the skin around the hole is still slightly raised. Congrats on ur first helix! I just want to recommend u to shorten ur piercing after a period of time, be sure to check with ur piercer tho whether its been long enough to shorten it because after i noticed my helix was doing well, like after 4-5 months, i tot it would heal quickly but i kept pulling it aggressively accidentally when i dry my hair with a towel and it bled🥲, it got irritated and a bump formed.
Ahhh I see what you're saying thank you so much for replying!! Sorry you snagged it that sounds so painful, glad the bump went down for you. I was fortunate enough to have an APP studio not too far away and they did recommend coming back in 4-6 weeks to have it shortened so I'll definitely be doing that 🙏
This is why I’m afraid to get helix piercings.. my forward helix was enough (she gets cranky occasionally until I threaten to retire her and then she calms down).
Maybe eventually. Still healing my 2 month old nostril so I have a bit of a wait before I get more holes. Septum’s next 😋 (I plan to have what I like to call the ‘trinity’- paired nostril piercings with a septum. Already have the nostrils, just need the septum).
props to you for sticking it out. April is the 1 year mark for me. if its still not looking good then its coming out. I miss sleeping on my left side so much. and hats.
Just a few months ago in august it was UGLy, it was so concerning i started listening to those ppl on tiktok and spraying it with saline solution 2x a day be sure to wipe it off after like a few minutes tho ( i learned it the hard way, it causes moisture bumps) thats honestly it. Trust the process it could take years and its still normal :D
Wow that is so clean and perfectly circular, at first I got the perspective wrong and thought the photo was showing the end of the backing part of a flat back earring poking through your ear. But nope, that's your actual ear. Very impressive!
I got two helix piercings at the same time, one looked very much like this after 10 months, almost completely healed. I was even able to put a hoop in it then with no issues.
The other one still acts like it's new two years later. Still getting crusties. Still hurts if knocked. Bleeds if I try to change the jewellery.
Absolutely no idea why. They're literally a centimetre apart and I have treated them the exact same way.

I have piercings that I've had for YEARS that aren't that healed. Damn, body, come on

Could someone please explain how to tell that this is 95% healed? I'm brand new to piercings and just got my first helix and am very excited!!
Please remove if not allowed, just hoping to be educated.
(Congrats on the progress!!)

really? right in front of my crusty 6 month old double helix? 😡 (it’s beautiful congrats)

girl just do it and pray for the best while expecting the worst, life’s too short to not get the holes you want 😩

Oh that’s STUNNING
meanwhile I’m on month 30
As in 30 months in and it's still tender?? 😱
Yeah still hurts lol, randomly blew up last weekend and got all gunky but the bump is gone now at least lol

my Sony XM-5's have been collecting $300 dust, I feel you
i’m soo happy for you haha….want to exchange ears?
Is this pierced at 14g? Looks great!

Beautiful
Very nice! I got a double, my bottom one is very open like that but the top is a trouble maker. So strange
This will never be me 😭 I'm too committed to side sleeping on normal pillows. Yours looks awesome!
Im a side sleeper too🥲but i lay on the very end of my pillow so my ear isnt directly on the pillow
beautiful
Any helixes just never heal for me😭 i do everythinggggg. My body piercings, eyebrow, daith, conch are all healed but not my oldest helixes .

I genuinely thought it was the most microscopic blue gem stud earring. So impressive

5 months to go for me 🤞🤞
All the best for u 💪
