It looks like it's actually an artificial tree without any sort of needles. If so, then she had to have likely special ordered it or made it herself because I can't find any that look like this.
I have a metal tree that has no needless, just the main branches with a few extra branches off of it. It looks better than whatever happened to this tree.
I think it's a hilarious joke on her part. Probably enjoys showing it and watching people's reactions and gets a kick out of the people trying to be nice and compliment it while she's howling on the inside
One year long ago my wife and I were not really in the Christmas Spirit and didnt really have a lot of spare money for a tree, so we opted to not have a tree that year.
A couple days before Christmas I realized I really needed something or I'd be depressed all season long, so on the way home from work I saw some tree branches someone had cut and piled at the curb for trash day.
I grabbed one, brought it home, and we hung lights and a few ornaments on that fucker and had our "Christmas Branch" that we put a few presents under. It really made the holiday 100% better.
When we couldn't afford a tree we would make a triangle on the wall using lights and string some garland back and forth to hang some baubles from. It was lovely and sometimes I miss it. But it always helped the spirit stay alive.
No lewis started the tree fire because he has a habit of throwing his match behind him after lighting his cigars. The tree was dry because snots the dog drank up the tree water and it dried up which was foreshadowed by Eddie and Clark's conversation earlier in the film. The cat ruined the chair it crawled under.
I honestly love this. This is absolutely amazing. And if she's going through anything she's still making an effort. And if she's not going through anything she's doing things her own way.
I’m with you on this! A few years back, our family was dealing with not only Covid and the pandemic but a brain tumor and trying to navigate getting appointments and scheduling surgery etc. I asked the kids (teens) if it was OK if we just got a small tree from Lowe’s that year and skipped cutting one down and getting out all the usual fragile ornaments and they were totally on board with simplifying. We have a picture of them pretending to struggle loading this itty bitty tree into our trunk where it had ample room to roll around, still makes me laugh. We put lights on it and took about 15 minutes to make a paper chain to cover the whole thing, then we gave it an upgrade by adding a popcorn chain. It was actually so cute! We ended up enjoying that tree so much that we haven’t gone back to a big one since, but we have added little nature critters hiding in it and mushroom ornaments, but I haven’t taken out my big boxes of glass ornaments since. I’m sure others would think our tree is too small but it makes us happy so mission accomplished!
Agreed. One year when I was a kid, I was visiting my dad over Christmas break. We went out to the woods behind his apartment complex and found a huge branch that had fallen from a tree and basically made a Charlie Brown Christmas tree. It was probably one of my favorite Christmases with him (we’re NC these days).
They’re short on funds and she didn’t want to kill a tree. They live in an area that had a bad forest fire this year, so she cut down one of the dead trees. I think it’s brilliant.
I'm surprised that I'm saying this, but ... I kind of like it. It might send their kids into therapy, but there's a don't give a f*** vibe to it that's oddly refreshing. It'd be great if there was another, more traditional tree in the house, but even if this is the only one, I'm good with it.
From which year??
Is it passed down from generation to generation in their family?
It's a Peanuts Charlie Brown style Christmas tree!
At least I hope so...
"You were supposed to get a good tree. Can't you even tell a good tree from a poor tree?"
Same thought
this was my first thought
Peanuts meets Nightmare before Christmas maybe….
Like a curse
The family tree
😂😂😂
Tree: I'm tired, boss
SIL: THATS TO DAMN BAD!
TOO, not TO.
Haha I love it!
Looks like the "Season of the Witch tree".
All of them
Yes
It looks like it's actually an artificial tree without any sort of needles. If so, then she had to have likely special ordered it or made it herself because I can't find any that look like this.
It’s literally a branch from a random tree she’s found outside
I have a metal tree that has no needless, just the main branches with a few extra branches off of it. It looks better than whatever happened to this tree.
3025
*witch
She doing ok?
She is fine, tree on the other hand doesn’t look too good.
She absorbed the tree's soul.
This was my question, too. That’s an either “haha I made a festivus tree” or the sign of someone not having a good time.
Dorian Gray's Christmas Tree
Sorry for being pedantic, but it’s Dorian Gray. I only remember that because that’s my cats name.
That's so funny, I thought it was Grey like the tea. Thank you for the correction, comment amended.
Dorian Gray cat tax
My attempt to paint her in all her glory
Glorious
It looks like she approves!
Such a cutie!!
Like a ballerina.
Cute kitty. Unrelated question, do you know where you got that blanket from? It looks similar to one I have and need a replacement.
I can’t tell if this is avant garde art or a cry for help
I think it's a hilarious joke on her part. Probably enjoys showing it and watching people's reactions and gets a kick out of the people trying to be nice and compliment it while she's howling on the inside
Bare trees need love too.
I never thought it was a bad little tree. It's not bad at all really, it just needs a little love.
They're the same picture.
I thought avant garde was French for "a cry for help. "
Lmaooo
Cry for help is no tree or a tree in august
That might have been a tree back in August
Having no christmas tree is a cry for help? Wtf
My first thought was "Let me guess, she refers to it as art?"
You should get her a shoe box of pine needles for christmas
And a roll of tape or bottle of glue.
Puzzle 145,000 pieces
DIY project supplies!
*some assembly required

I did that one year with regular tree branches!
When we couldn't afford a tree we would make a triangle on the wall using lights and string some garland back and forth to hang some baubles from. It was lovely and sometimes I miss it. But it always helped the spirit stay alive.
🎶Christmas branch, Oh, Christmas Branch...🎶
I think I found a plot hole in that scene. The fire appears to be lit, so why did that not cause an explosion beforehand?
The cat chewed the cord and sparked the tree fire. The fireplace was the only safe place in the house that night.

Is it a live tree? I repot mine so it gets a little bigger every year
Agreed. One year when I was a kid, I was visiting my dad over Christmas break. I want to see it lit up!!
After the tree caught fire?
Uncle Lewis, my tree!
“What’s the matter with you?”
It was an ugly tree anyway. At least it’s out of it’s misery.
You know what? I get it.
Feels 2025 appropriate
Charlie Brown called…
..and he does not approve! So we KNOW it's bad lol
Charlie Brown: "Yo this tree fuckin' sucks."
He would never
Clark Griswald did too
Having completely missed the bottom corner... I assumed this was a Tim Burton/Henry Selick stop-motion animation scene from a movie!
I need to give TP:Return another shot. It just didnt click with me at the time, which bummed me out as I love the other TP media.
/u/luluwanda any details you can share? Like, why?
They’re short on funds and she didn’t want to kill a tree. They live in an area that had a bad forest fire this year, so she cut down one of the dead trees. I think it’s brilliant.
That's actually neat - not let em go to waste and it's symbolic at this point.
Is there any way this can be a pinned comment? It makes so much sense and I love it!
It is brilliant!
Forest fires are common here. I would have decorated it with little half burnt houses.
Looks like Uncle Lewis got a little too close again
Is your sister in law Tim Burton?
Look you work with what you have.
I kind of love it.
I love it.
Me too
That's a methmas tree
That’s funny!
But I am not hating it. Has character.
Saved from the wood chipper.
You have a wonderful SIL.
I really do. I absolutely love and adore her.
Where are my stogies?!
Job well done Jack Skellington
I kinda… don’t hate it?? It seems like a statement piece more than anything lol.
Without the fluff.
Finally, a Christmas tree representative of my mental health.
Nice going, Charlie Brown.
“Of all the Charlie Browns in the world, you’re the Charlie Brownest!” 🤷♀️
OP is uncle Louis who's stogie got too close to the tree
I actually dig it.
Nightmare before christmas themed, huh?
I'm surprised that I'm saying this, but ... I kind of like it. It might send their kids into therapy, but there's a don't give a f*** vibe to it that's oddly refreshing. It'd be great if there was another, more traditional tree in the house, but even if this is the only one, I'm good with it.
It's a level of not giving a fuck that I aspire to.
I don't hate it.
can't afford a tree or don't want to cut down a live tree or don't want to clean up the mess from a live tree
Not a tree, a branch
i dont want to behold it
I can hear the Peanuts theme
I have a few questions.
Perfect
This makes Charlie Brown's tree look fancy.
Did Phoebe sell it to her?
Where? Is it behind the thing dredged out of the local canal?
They keep it in the local canal for storage between seasons
I actually appreciate this. I think killing a tree every year for decoration is asinine!
That is the Charlie Brown-est looking xmas tree I've spied in a while!
No needles to clean up.
Did she pity it?
Did it burn?
“I’m glad it’s out of its misery…”
Where she get the tree? An apocalyptic wasteland?
That looks like a twackers tree. Fr
I see the Grinch has already been there!
Someone got tired of sweeping up the needles
Looks like a modern apple tree. 🌲
She’s a beaut, Clark!
Ngl, I dig her vibe
I'm calling the police.
I guess you CAN reuse a live tree!
Charlie Brown Tree!! yay
Who gives a fuck God isn't real anyway
Merry Crisis
I think it’s actually kinda cool.
I love it and she clearly has a great sense of humor.
Your sister's scientists were so preoccupied with whether or not they could, they didn't stop to think if they should
Is she a pigeon?
It's a wildfire Christmas Charlie Brown!
I kinda like it...
I love this. Your sister in law is my people.
Derivative!
On par for 2025 I’d say.
It's definitely giving off 2025 vibes.
Nightmare before Christmas worthy!
OP, you can't drop a pic like that. And not also give us the story.
That's just mean
Looks like The Arm from Twin Peaks
"Its Christmas at ground zero
There's music in the air
The sleigh bells are ringing, and the carolers are singing
While the air-raid sirens blare"
thank you Mr Yankovic
Ain’t got no gas in it.
She’s my kind of girl.
Is this your sister in law?
Reminds me of this ♡
She’s a beaut, Clark!
I see nothing wrong with this.
Fantastic. Glad she has a place to HAVE a tree. All love to your SIL
Where’s the tree part of the tree?
That looks like the tree from Christmas Vacation after it got torched. “At least its out of its misery.”
Is your sister in law Phoebe from Friends?
Charlie Brown would be proud.
It’s quirky, I’ll give you that lol
This reminds me of Linda from Bob’s Burgers. I love it!
Did Uncle Lewis smoke a cigar too close to it? Or is there a fried kitty cat under an armchair?
Glad the fire didn't spread
Looks like mobile art, is she a fan of Calder et al?
Does she live in a Tim Burton movie.
When I pretend to be into Christmas for my niece and nephew despite hiding I'm homeless
This is how I feel this Christmas
There is something quite scary about that picture but I am not sure what makes it so. It could just be sad but it is instead scary.
That perfectly depicts the year we just had.
At least its out of its misery
She’s a beaut , Clark.
It just needs a little love. Wrap a security blanket around the base, and get a bunch of kids to stand around it and wave their hands in the air.
wait i actually love it. it would make me grin every single time i saw it and that’s kind of the whole point of the tree, right?
