I know we had some recent posts about holiday Chinese restaurants, Chef Helen Yung is the force behind Sweet Republic and is a big fan of local Chinese cuisine. So I thought some people would appreciate her particular take.
Asian Cafe Express!!! That’s my go to spot, I will always recommend. Usual order is a regular hot & sour soup with a regular twice cooked pork & white rice.
Has anyone had Peking duck at Stellar 66? And if you also have experienced Peking duck in Beijing, would you still recommend Stellar? No shade to anyone or any place, just want to see if it’s worth trying
It's delayed because it's suppose to open with the new Ritz. The developer of the Ritz just filed for bankruptcy, so unless a new developer takes over, we won't get it for a while.
I tried it and it was ok. Nothing to write home about and I live in the West Valley so don't see the point in driving that far when Great Wall is closer and better quality.

Love it
Hey mods, can we get a megathread for businesses open on Christmas?
Dragon bowl ! It’s my families go to.
https://www.dragonbowlaz.com/DragonBowlMenu.php
That website is amazing, has everything you want and nothing you do not for a restaurant.
More restaurant owners should take notice: we only want your menu, phone number and location.
Second this
Dragon bowl in phoenix 🐉 ! Big ass portions. And they are open for Christmas Eve and Christmas Day 🙏
Miss living near this spot
George Yangs, is the best!!
And is a neighbor of Sweet Republic's, that omission is more than a bit of a burn.
Wok Wei in Goodyear is pretty solid
Never had edible takeout from them. Is it better to dine in?

ACE fucking slaps

It’s bad. Don’t go if you are looking for authentic Peking duck
I figured. No good Peking duck in PHX, sadly.
I just thought - so many of the restaurants on the list are in our regular rotation or favorites, maybe this one would work…
That place is a scam really. They actually closed and reopened recently.
Previously, they advertise unlimited dim sum but you only get a few per hour and they forget your orders
Avoid that place lol
Am I crazy or did Mott 32 open here and close right away? I can’t find anything on it and remember Scottsdale was supposed to have one

For east valley folks, Ginger Garden on Higley is always delicious. Been our go-to Christmas Eve spot for years now.
saving this, haven't found a Chinese place we like since moving here in 22
Dim sum at Great Wall is super authentic
Where is the Dim Sum?
The article mentions Great Wall. There's also Phoenix Palace in Chandler and Mekong Palace in Mesa.
That looks like a lot of great places, in the east valley. Nothing in the west valley?
I live in Goodyear. haven't found anywhere decent yet.
Wong's Jr 83rd/Grand in Peoria and Kawaii 83rd/Deer in N Peoria both outstanding
China Grill in Peoria is also open Christmas Eve + Christmas Day if anyone’s in the west valley!
Jade Palace is delightful. Ambience is fun and service is really good.
ACE is also a fun adventure to pick out the seafood, and walk it over for a fresh seafood dinner in Arizona.
I’m going to gatekeep my favorite American Chinese food place unless someone specifically asks me what it is!
I am the key master, are you the gate keeper?
Please tell me, I need some decent kung pao chicken.
Okay. It’s Chen & Wok on 7th street and Maryland.
Thanks!
what is your favorite American Chinese food place u/purplelephant?
