My son saw this on a car this morning. I’d prob do the same.

  • My mom likes getting out of state plates when she has to rent a car so it’s obvious she’s not from the area. Excuses bad driving, I guess, in her mind.

Good way to make sure people know there's loot in your car for them to smash and grab. At least in a major city

Our rental car in Florida had Arizona plates

  • On a different note I’ve been in a Waymo 3 different times where people started acting crazy, cutting them off , giving the finger etc .. what the fuck are they doing? Idiots

Ive watched dipshits ride ass on waymos and its just like "why"?

I have an 18 yo step-sister who kept brake-checking a waymo because it's funny. She got a ticket with a fine AND mandatory driving school.

Az needs front plates on cars like CA

Also, I live in CA and AZ, I am embarrassed af by my AZ plates. But I rent in Cali and it's temporary so that's why I didn't change.

I hate when I rent a car and get CA plates!!! I’m a 4 generation Arizonian (Zonie) and proud of it! I want all the Cali people to move back to California.

should be proud that people wanna move here instead of shitting on them

My friend has been hit by a waymo vehicle twice. She hates them. Their vehicles get away with crazy stuff all the time.

They’re pissed off Waymo’s are taking jobs from people while enriching the corporations along with other forms of robotics, automation and AI just like they’re pissed about California and everyone moving to Arizona and driving up the costs, and the people using those cars are contributing to it. Not a good idea to create dangerous situations for other people or themselves to make their point I agree, but that’s the likely reason why.

  • Incredibly weird and unnecessary

  • I assume OP drives like an asshole.

I assume OP *is an asshole.

I assume everyone is an asshole….not just while they’re driving. Just, in general. It’s a pleasant surprise when they prove me wrong. Most of the time, they don’t.

Some people will hate on you just for being from out of state. I’ve heard people in Colorado are terrible to people with Texas plates.

Some people see someone doing a dumb thing on the road, then see an out of state plate and go "OHHH OF COURSE they're from ____"

Arizonans blaming "snowbirds" at literally any time of the year lol

Lmao me when I’m behind someone on a freeway on ramp who’s going 40 and they have a plate from the Midwest/northeast.

Just sayin, I've never seen a North Dakota plate drive with the flow of traffic

NOT from the Northeast! If you try that shit, or driving in the left lane at PRECISELY *the* speed limit, in Boston (where I'm from), NYC (where I've driven a lot), or Philly (which I've heard about a lot), you will be tailgated like no tomorrow. Or given the finger. On the plus side, you probably won't be shot there.

    Well fuck Texas in general

Everyone should be terrible to texas plates, especially pickup trucks (pavement princesses)

    They are the WORST

To the person who's reply I cannot see..........go back to texas. Lmao

People in CA hate on people with AZ plates too. They call them zonies and complain about their driving. Must be a universal thing

Ha. I’ve never heard Zonies before.

It's a San Diego thing...so many Zonies go there evwry summer to escape the heat. There were a few years that the SDPD gave more tickets to Zonies than SD citizens, especially parking in handicapped with no placard, lol.

We’ve gone out there for the past two Labor Day weekends. 🫣 Guess I’m a zonie too. No tickets though.

i recently googled it and all the tops hits from from the san diego subreddit lol

Can’t blame Colorado. It was a great place to live over 10 years ago, then the Texans & Calis moved in.

NW Arkansas too is now completely overrun with Texans and there's a huge backlash.

I am too! It’s horrible seeing a car with Texas plates at Trader Joe’s, Ugh!

As opposed to the guy I saw bypass 10 cars in the left turn lane and cut across traffic to run the red today at Pecos and Alma?

Everyone in Arizona drives like an asshole

I just got back from San Diego and every terrible Arizona driver you can imagine was the entire city on the road. No blinkers, swerving across lanes, speeding up so you can’t merge. That city is a hell hole of traffic violations

Maybe it’s gotten worse since I left, but SoCal was nowhere near as bad as Arizona when I lived there

I pulled onto the farthest lane to let an ambulance through with their sirens going off and some idiot behind me does not slow down to stop instead they pass me. They never end up stopping to let the ambulance pass. This is in Arizona. Drivers in Arizona are stupid. Either they don't know traffic laws or they just think they are an exception to the rule. Another idiot sped up their car dramatically to pass me when I was going the speed limit, and the roads were practically empty. You sure showed me. I have also seen an idiot drive on the wrong side of the street on surface streets.

I’m not saying that people are good drivers here. It’s bad here worst there from what I experienced

Patently false. Lot's of people here you open space when you put on your blinker. It absolutely astounded my work mate and I, when we first witnessed it. We both lived in CA at the time.

Things must be different in Chandler then.

Found the person from California 🤣

  • This is so incredibly dumb.

Yes. Only people from California can trash California. Otherwise, zip it.

Don’t gate keep me bro. California blows.

    So does Arizona

Yep, don't come here. Tell your friends, neighbors, co workers, your mama do not come here.

I'd leave myself if I could

Arizona is the last outcrop of freedom in this country. We aren’t sliding super conservative like Texas and Florida but still maintain a ton of libertarian ideas that empower individuals to live the life they want without overreaching government oversite.

facts, look at all the public land we have compared to Texas. You don’t realize it until you leave the state.

Absolutely. And let’s keep it that way.

Well, we're headed that way. I mean the new ID verification law to access porn sites and stuff. Hopefully it ends there, but I don't really have faith.

Granted I've only lived in the East valley and for only 3 months - but this is a hardcore evangelical MAGA block out here... Not a libertarian in sight

    Mesa moment, bunch of mormons

What laws make AZ libertarian? Other than our lax gun laws, I can’t think of anything that makes AZ stand out. Weed is legal is more than half the country, our alcohol laws are far from the most lax, our tax burden is far from the bottom, and we’ve started banning websites.

Arizona has several policies that align with libertarian principles, especially around individual liberty, limited government, and market freedom.

Arizona allows constitutional carry, meaning adults can carry firearms without a permit, with no registration or magazine limits. The state has a flat income tax rate, no inheritance or estate tax, and relatively low property taxes, reflecting a preference for limited taxation.

Education policy is one of the most libertarian in the country. Arizona has universal Empowerment Scholarship Accounts, allowing parents to use public education funds for private school, homeschooling, tutors, or online education. Charter schools and open enrollment are also widely supported.

The state has reduced occupational licensing barriers and recognizes many out-of-state professional licenses, making it easier for people to work and start businesses. It is also a right-to-work state and generally maintains a business-friendly regulatory environment.

Arizona legalized recreational marijuana, favoring personal autonomy over prohibition, though the market is still regulated. Property rights are relatively strong, with limits on eminent domain abuse.

Overall, Arizona is often considered libertarian-leaning, particularly on economic freedom, gun rights, and school choice. It’s a state that very much believes in individual choice

There's so much freedum here that we're dead last in pre-k-12 education

It’s a fine line, we’re happily walking both sides of it.

It’s the best state in the union, wdym?

    Fuck California

If I had to choose between an influx of Californians or Texans, I'd take Californians any day.

    Feel better now?

Yeah fuck the 4th largest economy in the world.

  • I couldn’t imagine caring that much. Nobody gives a fuck what license plate your car has despite the jokes and stigmas. Just fucking live

For a while I was playing a game to see every state license plate, like a scavenger hunt, and then I cared a lot.

I finally got Vermont and now I don’t care again. But California was like day 1.

People shit on California drivers as if Arizona drivers are law-abiding and perfect

Except my husband and I lived it when we moved back here last year. Had been in CA for a few years, moved back to AZ and you would've thought we'd had the car equivalent of "kick me" on our vehicles. Noticed the overt aggressiveness directed at us go way down after new AZ plates. Now we just see the regular AZ driver psychotic behavior not directed at us.

I'm pretty sure the AZ to CA rage has nothing to do with driving. Instead, it has a lot to do with this gold rush of Californian's selling their CA homes at huge profits and moving here, paying cash for available Tucson homes, causing bidding wars, and driving up the cost of houses for sale and rental prices, too.

He's probably one of those don't California my AZ nut jobs.

  • Do people really go around yelling at people with CA plates? Pathetic

They are the new boogeyman for half of America.

I've been in Arizona for 30+ years and my parents (Dad in particular) have always had a dislike for Californians. Personally, I don't really care.

That is so dumb because you would never know someone is from California unless they told you.

Nah that driver just sucks at driving

I moved to Phoenix in 2023 from CA and had not gotten AZ plates yet. I was literally in stopped traffic at stoplights on Northern Ave and this asshole in a big ass truck passed me, honked, and flipped me off. I had literally done nothing but exist in the same traffic. I can only assume that because I still had CA plates was why he decided to act like an asshole.

I'm not originally from CA either.

My girlfriend’s brother does shit like this, claims to be a peace loving nomad blah blah still does this like ???

I’ve had this happen and I have Arizona plates. I went over everything I could have done wrong and there was nothing. Sometimes the pavement princesses just need to blow off pent up rage because of their fragile egos.

No. Driven rentals with Cali plates for over a year. Almost 2. Never an issue on roadways. Its gonna be all that drivers fault

I had an uber driver flip me off outside a hotel in Scottsdale for absolutely no reason I can think of other than my rental had Cali plates. Such a stupid thing to hate someone over.

I see so many cars with the "Don't CA my AZ" stickers right next to Christian stickers. Love and kindness, right?

I did once but it was only cuz i was yelling at him for cutting me off like a jackass, but no, I don't think anyone yells at people just for the state of their plate.

Rented an M3 for a day while in Denver and my experience is yes, people do.

When I was in a rental, Prius, with California plates it sucked! Trucks were so fucking rude. Someone yelled something about California. When I drove my family members Porsche the following week, totally different experience on the road. This was years ago though. I often rent vehicles for business and haven’t noticed others treating me differently on the road based on plates.

    Not in my experience

  • The cool people from CA are not moving to boring Phoenix, the GOP California’s are

    Exactly!!!!!! Yessssss lol

I totally think its maga that didn't have the will or the courage to effect the political change they wanted in their home state so they tucked tail and ran away. They brought their shitty traffic and insane housing prices with them.

    Yup…I live by them.

I’m not so sure. With California’s insane prices, both sides of the political aisle are moving away.

Yup. People are moving here because they have to, not because they want to.

  • "I'm desperate for attention" is what I read.

  • If we're being honest with ourselves, the anti California narrative is pretty stupid and is mostly perpetuated by folks who are themselves from out of state.

It’s so silly. It’s called the united states for a reason. Anyone should be able to move to any other state. It’s not like they’re immigrating to another country.

  • California hate is soo forced, as a previous hater.

  • I lived here with California plates for 4 years while in school not a soul every gave a fuck. Only switched shit over when I decided to stay

My friend still has their Cali plates and they have never mentioned a problem either.

Because its not a thing, clueless people who cant drive then wonder why somebody's yelling at them... Oh must be my CA plate...nevermind I just cut a few people's off and almost sideswiped a car while trying to answer my phone.gosh it could of been something important.. Way more important then other peoples lives I mean wtf.. Mother nature.. The only true "god" needs to fucking make things right and End this cancer this beautiful world has a rooted in her.

I had my Cali plate for just over two years. Should have changed it much much sooner.

Was not fun driving to Blythe just to get a smog test last minute.

  • It’s terrible that people in AZ act this way. That this abuse towards others is so ridiculous that this is not the first, second or third time I’ve seen a declaration like this on a rental car while living in AZ. People move around the country. It’s OK!

  • Insecure shit tbh. The folks that actually care about that arent worth your time

  • Imagine being such an abhorrent driver that the sheer amount of people yelling at you warrants you making a sign to attach to your car. Not once did this person think maybe their driving is horrific. No, it must be the plates. This city is loaded with CA-plate rental cars and you don't see thousands of people just randomly yelling at them. Methinks this person should take the bus instead.

  • I've heard so many loud crazies screaming about California, this doesn't surprise me.

  • Who tf is yelling at people with CA (or any out of state plates)…is that a thing? I’ve noticed some people here like to make it their whole personality to hate a state they can’t afford to live in- and that’s weird- but methinks this is just one of those people who probably is driving a rental because they totaled their Altima and since their whole personality is hating CA…this caused quite the complex.

Side note, when I’m back in my home state and driving with my Arizona plates I’m always worried people will assume I don’t know ball and won’t let me merge. 😂

Fox News & conservative media in general has been pushing hate towards all things California for decades.

California is almost always out in front with progress & conservatives hate progress.

Their media cant say “we hate progress” so they bring up culture war nonsense like “California doctors have moved into schools across the country to perform surgeries on children to make boys turn into girls.”

I’m not kidding. Even trump has repeated that one.

  • these boomers exist in their own fantasies lol. Never seen anyone yell at someone with CA plates smh

  • All the people who move from CA to AZ vote red lmao, why does MAGA hate them so much?

Who would MAGA be without someone to hate/blame? They have zero actual policy.

Fox News and boomer conservatives on social media. no idea why they push such a stupid narrative

Idk if that idea holds much water for a state that borders CA. Can’t afford CA but still a night drive from family.

Definitely not, as someone who made that move and sure as fuck does not vote that way lol

  • As long as you aren’t buying up houses and renting them back to Phoenicians for exorbitant prices we’re good!

Yeah, only Phoenicians can do that to other Phoenicians.

Phoenicians don’t have the money. Californians can sell their 3 bedroom house for $2 million, buy up 5 or 10 rental properties in Phoenix, and never work again.

And that’s exactly what was happening in 2020 you could sell your POS house in Compton for 900k and buy up 4-5 houses here. Incredibly terrible experience for those of us who’ve been here for decades

  • I’m in town visiting the folks for Christmas. When I mentioned that I grew up here to the guy at the rental car desk, he looked up and said, “The rental has Florida plates. Is that going to be okay?” I love how locals hate any driver with an out of state plate, especially snow birds and CA folks.

    Most of us don’t care.

  • Its just CA hate. I don't understand why so many people hate CA. I mean, they just did what most of us did and moved to AZ for a different opportunity/cost of living/school whatever. Its ridiculous

I think California is a beautiful state but they definitely bully there way around the southwest

For example Arizona and Nevada are losing more access to the Colorado River so California can sustain the amount they are taking. As well Phoenix and Las Vegas rely on California for gas and newsom on multiple occasions has threatened to restrict outgoing inventory to us ether for political reasons or just because. Nevada and Arizona have to consistently negotiate with them for water and gas usage.

So to be clear most people don’t hate Californians, they hate California, as the states government. I don’t hate people from California. They act very much like people here it’s a whole vibe in the southwest

Yeah but there are actually people who hate California residents that move here.

As someone who grew up here, it’s just the thing. Every state has a neighbor they hate. We have no issue with NM or UT. CA has just always been our annoying neighbor. It’s gotten more annoying with the influx of people who sold their homes in CA for millions then move here and drive up prices which drives us out of the market.

That’s true ask anyone from Illinois how much they like Kentucky lol

  • Holy fuck people here are so pathetic

  • as someone who lived their whole life in AZ and then tried cali in 2023… arizona drivers are actually fucking psychopathic and need to be studied in a lab. yeah traffic takes forever in LA but im not dodging death and getting harassed by the angriest people on the planet every time i step into my car.

Guaranteed you will see more accidents on I-10 in a week than you will in L.A. for a month.

Similar experience but coming back from San Diego. AZ drivers are literally insane. They've never been great but got so much worse so fast. Folks drive fast on the highways in SoCal, but they are not aggressive and purposely psychotic as a baseline. Psychotic drivers stood out as abnormal and folks avoided them on the road, I can count on one hand the amount of aggressive encounters I'd witnessed.

Here, aggressive is the default. I've never seen the speed limit so blatantly ignored as I do here. Dangerous behavior with a 2,500lb-6000lb vehicle. Driver on driver aggression. Bad bad bad tailgating. Deliberately cutting folks out of merging. Trying to overtake other drivers on transition areas is normal. Last minute cutting across traffic to make a turn or exit. Blowing through red lights. Deadly road rage. These people are awful, dangerous drivers, and so angry toward fellow drivers.

I always say that drivers here didn't learn defensive driving, they learned offensive driving.

  • Your haterade is spilling

  • Driver thinks they are a main character lol. Newsflash no one cares if you are from California because everyone should assume everyone is an asshole on the road, that’s called defensive driving.

  • My guess is this is projection. This person yells at people with California license plates.

  • Literally, nobody cares, bro

  • Thats a person projecting, they think people from california are shitty drivers so they are making sure people don’t think they are from california

  • Oh, cool. Is it 2020 again?

  • Idc what plates you have. The issue with this state is ridiculously slow snowbirds driving -20 under speed limit. And then the people running reds, never using signal, ignoring stop sign order and blasting by +40 over speed limit.

This state has the worst drivers. I actually think CA drivers are better.

  • What’s wrong with being from CA?

  • Can California bring their restaurants and traffic enforcement, it’s pretty shit out here..

  • Texas plates are way more annoying imo

  • Wow. As a California resident that is here for school, yall really have an inferiority complex that is quite depressing. You guys should be proud of your state smh

We are proud and its getting trashed. Its sad.

It's only weirdos who obsess over California.

I'm originally from Pennsylvania. I live in Arizona now. I have lots of love for California so I don't know what the strange anti-California Arizonans are on.

Californians are welcome to stay and live wherever they want. The rest of the country can benefit from California politics since the "Electoral College" is political incentive for people living in safe "blue states" to migrate to "swing" or "red" states. [This shouldn't be a thing... END THE ELCTORAL COLLEGE!]

EDIT: I said what I said and I mean it. I know a place you can shove your downvote

  • The fun thing is... the people yelling at her probably have Texas plates on their trucks.

I'd love if agencies would start actually enforcing state residency registration requirements. Every out of state plate person that is actually living here is removing funds from our road improvement projects in the long run.

  • Since when does anyone living in CA have the balls to yell at another person to their face?

  • I know people said they are a bad driver but there are possible interaction with local that are anti-CA....I don't know how common it is though but I've heard it

  • COL is consumer spending which is a direct driver along with other factors to get your GDP but spin it however you want since that is a Cali thing to do. Oh yeah that CofL is why they move here

  • OP is so insecure about being from Cali that they gotta put a sign?? This makes you even more of a target lollll

  • I live in Arizona and Arizona absolutely hates Californians , even the cops target and ticket California cars and car rentals avoid having California plates on the cars they rent . I don't know why

  • who would win, 7 million arizonans or 1 unprotected left turn, roundabout, and reverse traffic lanes?

  • I had a rental once that also had California plates. I would get tailgated and cut off constantly.

  • On a motorcycle, I have an AZ plate. I'd rather get downvoted here, than get photon torpedoed with snow bunny hate on the 101.

  • I took a Turo with Canadian plates up to pine top once and I could not believe the looks of disgust from the people in those areas.

  • bro is obviously from california

  • This is just an excuse to forgive their “bad driving”. No one would notice the license plate unless you’re being a bad driver.

    So stupid.

  • I rented an M3 while visiting a friend in Denver and the car had a CA license plate. Multiple times trucks tried to run me off the road.

  • Classic! Gotta love the rental car caution.

  • Sign of a truly pathetic mind

  • Creative way to avoid the typical road rage!

  • Classic! Rental cars always get the heat.

  • 😂😂😂😂😂

  • And when zonies come to San Diego we all complain about their driving. The circle of life!!

  • Flip them off, just in case.

  • CA plates? Not clear why people would bother a Toyota

  • Smart person. And to the real people from California, please leave

  • Still riding with my Wisconsin plate 🤷‍♂️

  • Nothing screams car theft like a rental.

  • But it seems like people in AZ *hate* people from Cali. I certainly all kinds of insulting comments on the subject everywhere there are commenting boards.

  • the moment someone says transplant in AZ i tell them to eat my whole asshole.

If youre not indigenous to the land youve probably been here a generation, eat shit.

  • Only time I tend to avoid Californians is when their sports team play here

  • I did this when I had a rental after an accident with Florida plates!

  • Legit concern...

  • "Smart move! Saves a lot of hassle."

  • Sad, but so true….and a positively, ridiculous thing to understandably, feel compelled to do. That off-the-cuff judgement and disdain, have come to reign over our inherently good humanity, has been and might continue to be terribly disheartening ~ if didn’t know the difference between love and the sense of hate that can be created from merely, fear. Good to know well enough how to see and treat others accordingly. God bless us all, everybody… 🫶🏻

  • I’d do the same thing. I could not imagine someone thinking I’m from cali 🤢

  • Sooo... theyr'e from Illinois? Wisconsin?

  • Conservatives are so fucking weird

  • I moved to Utah after high school, came back home for Christmas in my car with UT plates. I’m driving along with my windows down and some Karen yells “GO BACK TO YOUR STATE!” Completely unprovoked. Lol I’m in my home state lady. People are dumb

  • AZ drivers are worse anyway :)

  • I see that a lot here. Many people hate California here — I don’t, it’s dumb since most people here are from another state originally. And the natives have parents or grandparents etc. that came from another state or a country.

That said there’s a lot of Trump motherfuckers here which I also don’t agree with.

  • As are most rental cars. Also as someone who has driven a bunch in both states I actually prefer California drivers as they seem to be less likely to rage at the existence of traffic.

  • That's how bad cali is

  • Isnt it illegal to cover your license plate?

Yes, but I think the license plate is just below the image.
