Starting January.

I will not be renewing.

Just increasing costs because it's a new year is not my idea of a good business practice.

Pure avarice.

  • They've gone downhill since being bought by Circle K. I've been much happier with Raceway

How much is Raceway per month?

    21

Raceway is the shit!! For the monthly they hook you up!

And they have The undercarriage wash on their machines if you like to get muddy.

They also give you an air freshener, dash wipe and a quality microfiber towel every time you go through.

That should just be the standard

You would think but I tried cobblestone and they didn't give any of those items

That explains so much. I've been noting a drop in quality for some time. Having worked for Circle K, yeah it tracks.

Raceway is my go to 🔥

  • I cancelled because I noticed my account had different cars with various license plates ive never seen or owned before. They are shady imo.

They did that to me too!! There’s no way they make that many typos. It’s ridiculous and evil!!! They’re scammers!! They scammed me out of hundreds of dollars

How do you see your account? I’ve never been able to see mine. Their website is trash

Commenting to see if there’s a response to this question lol I’m curious too

  • Fuck these subscriptions. They make it hard to cancel as well. I got duped by Super Star during the pandemic. It's a loop of call the company then the voice recording days to do it online. The issue is most people use their cell phones to navigate and the cancelation details are only visible on desktop view.

Get a Cash App card. Load it with enough to start the subscription and then only keep it loaded if you want to keep paying. If they try to charge it and there’s no money they don’t do anything. They’ll try again a few more times and then cancel your account. I’ve been a “new customer” for Super Star like 4 times already. I sign up when they do a big promo then let it die. Repeat in 6 months. Also, their stupid card readers only work like half the time and if they give you problems, usually they just let you go for free. This has happened to me 3 or 4 times as well.

You are a gentleman and a scholar. I appreciate your tip!! Will do this going forward 🤝🏼

You don't even have to let your cash app card run out of money. Cash app added a new feature where you can block any company from charging you transactions. I canceled my audible subscription and they kept trying to charge me so I just straight up blocked them.

  • I'm just popping in to say that I'm a "wash the car when it's dirty" person and I hate going to these places that sell subscriptions - they have the self serve kiosk there and EVERY TIME there is a guy just standing there who walks up and tries to hit the buttons for you and upsell you on the stupid unlimited wash subscription (not a random guy, he actually does work there). They need to make up their minds either have someone manning a pay station or use the self serve kiosk and leave me the hell alone.

Those unlimited wash subscriptions are all scams. You'd have to wash your car like six times a month for them to be worth it and I just don't care that much.

Because of this, I drive about 3-4 miles out of my way to go to a car wash farther away from my house because the Cobblestone right down the street became SO AGGRESSIVE. They don’t take no for answer. And I’m driving a fucking beater from 2011.

I agree. I got this subscription car scam 3 years too late.

But the subscriptions are like the cost of 1 top tier wash. If you just wash the car when it’s dirty, even if you get the mid tier one, you’re paying like $15 per wash. With the sub you pay like 20-25 and can go as many times as you want. So I don’t see how it’s a ripoff if you’re going to these places anyway.

Cobblestone at 51st and Bell…that guy drives me NUTS.

The general rule in subscription pricing in car wash id it’s worth it if you wash your car more than once a month. Last time I had a subscription was when I was doing rideshare and washed it daily. Definitely was worth it at that point.

For real! There is absolutely no need to wash your car THAT often. Maybe once every couple or few months, if that.

I have trees the birds love to sit in next to my driveway so I wash my car almost every day I drive it.

    15+ washes a month isn't unusual.

Looks like you're their target audience then

  • Last time i went to one they stopped providing towels.

  • $26 a month for broken down vacuums, and compressed air that rarely works. I can’t remember when I had a fully functioning experience at my nearest location in Phoenix

  • hell yeah, I stand with my brothers against Big Car Wash ✊

all my homies hate big car wash

  • The lite wash at SuperStar is $10; I’ll stick with that once a month.

  • I canceled my quick quack car wash too because the “cheap” plans was $20/mo and you got barely any soap. Had to get the premium plan for $30+ to get a decent wash.

TY, I just remembered to cancel mine too.

    Glad to hear it!

I do think Quick Quack washes better tho. And they usually have towels at the one by us, unlike Clean Freak

  • i'm sorry but why tf is everyone so happy to be paying for a car wash subscription? you could never get me to do that lmao

I like mine. $56 a month for both my cars and we tend to get around 10 washes a month in the winter and 40-50 a month during the summer.

Cars live in the driveway so when it is 115 outside the car is unbearable for 5-10 minutes when we first start going anywhere, or we stop at the carwash at the end of the street and the whole car gets chilled down to around 75 and the AC instantly gets a boost from the water on the condenser.

Absolutely a luxury item for us but it makes our lives better for a month while costing less than a single meal out.

I cannot agree with this comment more. I love going to the car wash on a hot day. It decreases the temperature drastically and instantly.

  • $26 per month, sheeeeeeet. Just yesterday I drove my whip into one of those self-wash bays. $3.75.
Subscribing for car washes is insane.

$3.75? Did you power wash it for 20 seconds then leave??

18.75 seconds I beat my old record Now if I can only find a way to grab the brush in under 3 seconds...gotta remember to wear the Hokas instead of the Sketchers

You might as well just invest in your own pressure washer at that point

SOAP --> FOAM BRUSH --> RINSE --> SPOT-FREE RINSE (if you're feeling bougie) .. otherwise towel that shit down!

    $5-6 if you're rushing

I'm way too lazy for all that shit.

Not really. It’s a thing lots of people with clean cars do

All the ones I have been to don’t even start unless you put in $5

Yeah I can't fathom this. I'm actually usually too lazy to even drive to a car wash; I just use the hose at home. Then again my car isn't spotless 100% of the time.

  • Imagine if you could just give yourself a raise at your job whenever you wished? Thats what companies are doing with price gouging practices today.

  • I get the year pass at Costco for Super Star it's $199.99 plus I get 4% cash back with my executive membership and visa which ends up being like $15 or $16 a month and it's the highest wash they have. However they have gone downhill as well and often have broken brushes or just don't have a lot of the other chemicals. It's a big hit or miss.

Damn im paying $20 a month for their top level one and thought that was decent. Your method is the way. Thanks for sharing

    Send Location 📌

Which Costco location has that? Is that in the gift cards section?

    It’s in the meat department.

  • Same here. What is a cheaper alternative?

    Costco car wash.

It really sucks that they only have one on the west side. Same with diesel, only one of the stations has it.

There’s one on the east, in Scottsdale. Hayden and Northsight.

That's 22 miles away from me. If I'm in that area, that's an option but I need something closer in Mesa.

  • And here I am paying $37 a month at Cobblestone

  • The one near my house has something broken in it EVERY. SINGLE. TIME. Something doesn’t work from water sprayers to twirly rags to overhead spinning thing. Something is always broke.

If the price goes up, as you say, I’ll be canceling as well.

  • If you live in South Phoenix, check out 1st class auto detail on 7th street north of Broadway. I’ve been taking my cars there since 2020 and they do an amazing job. My car looks brand new inside and out every time, and the price is so good compared to anywhere else.

  • I use elephant touchless and treat myself to a full detail once a year from a family friend who has a detailing business. Fuck subscriptions to get paint swirls

Can u recommend a good detailer?

  • Glad i canceled years ago. Not worth the damage those brushes do to your paint in the long run.

  • Cobblestone stole my CC info after I foolishly signed up for a membership. Like, the dude who took my info literally copied my CC info and tried to make a purchase online. It was caught by my CC company but still. No more memberships for me.

Cobblestone is the fucking worst out there.

  • Does anyone else think selling unlimited car washes in the fucking desert is, at best, terrible karma?

  • Cobblestone is ripping me off $28

  • Yet another reason I love my old shitbox

Exactly, can't remember the last time either car was washed. Maybe as a freebie with an oil change a few years back.

  • Any new establishment in the Valley, I mentally give 5-10 years post-initially establishing, to blow having me as a customer and obtaining my money, altogether.

Consistently stays consistent, with how the majority of these places run corporate style. This has been consistent and transparent, as long as I've been born and raised here. From Salad n Go - Chipotle - Panda Express, & MANY others.... lol

  • Shit I wash my suv with $6 at the self wash place.. and the vacuums are free where I do em

    What place is this?

On priest drive and baseline.. passing the mint dispensary on your left side..

  • Most cleaners are getting crazy, i bought a tankless pressure washer from Costco for $40. Infinite car wash for $40

  • Do it ur self car wash cost 8 quarters With access to vacuum for a buck.

  • You shouldn't be washing your car in a machine washer that often anyway. Absolutely belting your clear coat off. Leave your car dirty and wash it every few months, or learn the two bucket method and do it at home.

  • Do they offer touchless or water-based/only washes? I got my truck detailed and the guy was like, “stop going to those automated washes, they scratch the paint”. Still need something, I ended up not washing it now 😆

elephant car wash has touchless washes. on their website you can get a free wash code to try them out

i came here to comment similar. i dont understand why even use these car washes, they destroy your paint. so youre washing it to make it look better but simultaneously make it look worse. id rather get my car washed every 2 months by some cheap detailer.

but you can do your own touchless very easily at home. you can get some bilt hamber touchless, buy an electronic foamer, and get some rinseless wash.

i can do a full wash of my car in 20-30min and its infinitely better than any you can pay for.

    i think there’s a hand wash place on 16th & camelback

There’s a touchless one on 24st North of Thomas.

Did you notice scratched paint or were you told about it by someone who makes money from you thinking automated car washes scratch your paint?

you can see it on every car in the sun, it doesnt take science equipment to see and know these car washes destroy your paint

I'm just saying if you don't notice it then it's probably not a real problem to you.

I’ve noticed it after getting car washes.

I hand washed my car for the first 10 years then got lazy and took it to a new car wash close by. I definitely noticed new swirls after the first wash. Especially on my rims.

There’s a nice and cheap touchless car wash in Phoenix. I know that is broad but I am going to gatekeep because the line can already be 45 minutes on the weekends and there’s only one touch-less stall; the rest are self-wash.

  • Shouldn't use a brush car wash at all. There's a few touchless car washes in the valley and their basic is $6.

Mind naming a few? I gotta get my work car cleaned couple times a week and would love to stop fucking the paint up

  • It’s toxic capitalism. Feels inescapable in the U.S. these days. And the rich men north of Richmond keep getting richer. It is a damn shame.

Raising prices is toxic capitalism? The fantasy world that many Redditors live in is fascinating.

That’s nice dude. My remark is an opinion in the form of words. I know that’s intense and delusional. Please citizens arrest me. I might destroy the planet.

  • You guys wash your cars monthly?

In a car wash as well. I wash mine at home

  • This for everyone if you have a car and you can about the car don't drive your car through these washes all the time once you strip off the clear coat your paint goes to crap and very fast with the Arizona sun. The touch less ones are another problem the chemicals used break down the clear coat over time in it's own way too not to mention super bad for the water supply those forever chemicals mix in the water and flow into the drain.

  • This post is the epitome of first world problems.

  • What's the difference between avarice and a reasonable profit margin?

How's Mesa? "The Town Too Dead to Die!"

  • Noooo, now it’s not gonna rain anymore. /s

  • This is for the "as many washes as you want" service, I assume? How much was it this past year?

  • Go to Jackson’s. They’re about $20

  • Raising prices at the beginning of the year is a pretty common business practice.

  • I go to super Star car Wash there's is $23 a month for the premium package. I think of it like this, a car wash costs you about $5 for the cheap one and $12 for the premium. I wash my car almost every other day so for me it is a great deal. Plus I get all the free vacuums, compressed air, tire inflation, all the free microfiber rags, free air fresheners. I'm pretty obsessed with keeping my car clean. As far as I'm concerned it's well more than worth it.

  • Around Christmas you can buy the gift cards at Clean Freak for 50% off. I buy one to get me through the year or pick some up to give as gifts.

  • We benefit from the gas card and washes every week.

  • stupid to pay for a subscription for a carwash LOL

  • Why would anybody get a subscription to a car wash?

I just buy the discounted wash packs from Cobblestone and then use them when the car is dirty.

It's a car. It gets dirty. It's not your life. Take that $26 and put it in your retirement account.

Do you get the packs from Costco or directly from Cobblestone? Honest question, this seems like the right move, and I feel like I saw these at Costco, but I don’t really know.

Direct from Cobblestone though I would look for those kinds of discounts at Costco as well

Uber/Lyft driving is going to be a pretty common reason.

You said it yourself, you wash your car when it's dirty. If someone drove twice as much as you, they would need to go twice as often.

Dirty is also subjective. My car is dirty weekly

This totally makes sense. Hadn't even though of it.

Plus this is a business expense and the car needs to be clean for business reasons.

  • Not to burst your bubble but everything has been going up in price. What else are you going to give up?

30% in one year when it's just soap, water and towels? Spare me the BS.

So you think soap & towels are the only expenses with running a car wash?

You sound dumber than rocks with this nonsense.

  • [deleted]

And why are three interviews needed?

    That's awful. And unprofessional

They used to hire homeless released felons on the spot. What gives?

Well I have a masters degree in accounting with a 4.0 and no felonies so that explains it

    You're overqualified /s

For real though, I used to do job search and placement assistance for a charitable agency. Car washes were a place anybody could get hired - to wash & detail cars anyway - including recently sprung felons.

  • Still sounds cheaper than the alternatives, paying near $30 right now

  • Perhaps wash your own vehicle

You can wash my car for me.

  • How often are you people washing your damn cars??? $7.99 at Costco is more than enough for me once I decide “yeah that’s dirty enough”. Everyone is in here mad about subscriptions, but these businesses use subscription models because they work! A ton of the comments in here are talking about paying $20+ a month on car washes! What is wrong with you people?

  • So when, in your opinion, should companies increase prices?

In my opinion, companies should lower prices by $10 to stay competitive and earn a larger portion of market share. Word of mouth marketing takes off, they can drop facebook and google ad spend. It’s a win for everyone.

They shouldn’t. Let the CEO take a few million off his bonus lol

Water and soap did not go up 30% in one year, f00l.

That’s all you think of when you think of biz expenses? You can’t be serious.
