I worked on a team with Rosie years ago. Rosie was the kind of person who wasn't all the smart but had done the job for a long time. She was happy to dodge any position that would give her responsibility and elated to be able to catch anyone making a mistake no matter how small.
Every single mistake that came to Rosie's attention generated an email to the person who made the mistake with a cc to the supervisor. Things like typos, spread sheets that didn't contain the all the fields she though should be given (even when there was no data for those fields). It was annoying but the sup put up with it.
I moved on to another team and was shocked to see Rosie's name come up years later. The team she worked on was low on work so she was put to do data entry for my current team when she finishes her tasks. The work on the current team is a lot of manual input of names, dates, dollars amounts, etc.
Usually when I see an error I figure that everyone is human and just fix it and move on with my day. Well unless its Rosie's error. Then I email Rosie with a screen shot of the mistake and a detailed reason it was wrong. I let her know that I'll fix it and just wanted to bring it to her attention. I always make sure to cc her sup on it. Is Rosie happy? Probably not but hey she's the one that let me know years ago that we always cc the boss on mistakes.
Once got a mail asking for some report or whatever, I usually answer mails like that immediately because I worry that I will forget. So I dropped everything, found the report and mailed it off with a "Here you go!"
3 days later I get a snotty message about how I'm not giving her the reports she need, with my manager and my manager's manager CC'd.
Reply all baby and CC to her manager and her manager's manager - attaching my original response all of 5 minutes after she asked
A few minutes later she sends a "oh sorry didn't see that mail" but to me only - no bitch, we we're CC-ing everyone remember?
So I added everyone back in and said "not a problem we all make mistakes"
Got a little smiley response to me from my manager.
Warms my heart with a smile reading this. I can't stand people like that.
My wife worked with a person that did stuff like this except she really didn't have a lot of work except near year end so she would try to find mistakes in areas that really were not her responsibilities but would get everyone running in circles over the drama and make-work.
My wife had enough and got another job offer. Once they found out that she was leaving mostly because of this coworker, they offered my wife her position and temporarily laid off the offender (among others). She never came back when the other people returned.
I bet Rosie is riveted by your emails.
We can do it!
I see what you did there.
Coincidentally, stayed in an airbnb directly next to the real Rosie's house in Ypsilanti, MI.
Didn't know she was from there. Nice.
Excellent!
I can't believe it took me more than half a second to get the joke.
Took me about a minute, and I take pride in my knowledge of war history!
It took me longer, but I am not from the USA. The mention of war (along with Rosie and rivet) made it click.

...... Take my damned up vote you magnificent bastard.... đ
Thank you. I'm working my towards becoming Inglourious.
Another upvote haha. Love that movie
Angry upvote
Ah, the best kind of upvote.
Seems more like being drilledâŠ
A whole lot, Iâd imagine
A whole lot of Rosie
Cool flex!
đđđđ Well done!
They were quite the flex! đȘ
I see that what you just done did there. đ€Ł
I got that reference!
I hate the shotgun CC thing. Its like the person is too insecure to believe they can just email about a problem and expect their professional colleagues to cooperate without "pressure".
Well I am very professional. I do the best I can with the information I have at the time and I'm not afraid to roll up my sleeves and work when needed. So I'm not afraid of ever being "CC'd" because I trust my actions.
So I absolutely love it when somebody puts a shot across my bow with lots of CCs. I generally wouldn't handle problems this way, but, of course, now I have to "reply all" and tag anyone they thought to include (mwuhahah -evil laugh).
"Oh, you mean that thing that got totally screwed up with the customer? Yeah, we looked into it and turns out it was that thing we sent you instruction on how to handle it this other way. Don't worry, we already fixed it and here's another copy of the instructions".
Yeah I generally try to avoid CC-ing people in unless itâs important to everyone to be involved or aware of whatever it is the email is about.
Unless thereâs fucking politics involved. Sometimes itâs just unavoidable.
Thereâs a department at my job that consistently tries to avoid tasks that only their department can do, so when I have to email them to ask them to do the thing I always cc my supervisor so when they refuse she can just take over. I hate doing it, I wish I could trust this department to just be an adult and do their job, and I donât cc anyone else unless theyâve previously established theyâll do the same thing đ„Č
Hear you. Like, why waste time asking them normally only to be ignored and have to ask again CCing their boss.
I have a coworker whoâs been around a year or two, and has learned one additional item from our basic new hire work, which is that she gets to do quality assurance on our new hire training classes. That slight level of elevation has just been a green light for her to shit talk new people every chance she gets, while simultaneously asking some rookie ass questions she should be well beyond. Like, your job is to help them get better. If youâre complaining about their lack of improvement, I see that as a failure on you, not the people in a training class.
Thankfully, she stopped coming to my cube to do it. Iâve always been pretty obvious in how much office drama annoys me.
We had a Rosie in the company. Not only will she CC the bosses (for 2 teams) the mistake she spots, but when the âmistakesâ she calls out is not actually a mistake (which happens often), suddenly the CC bosses is gone đ.
Yeah, that is not going to happen, my co-workers will reply and CC the bosses back lol. đ
I had an employee named Rosie that if I could clone, I'd be a successful evil unstoppable dictator with a belly full of lumpia.
I miss that Rosie even though it's been twenty years since she brightened my doorstep.
I'm only commenting because I don't want "Rosie" to be a Karen derivative.
Wait arenât doorstops darkened by people arriving? Cause they block the light from outside?
Rosie WAS the light
Great, now I want some lumpia.
Me tooooo đ€€
I have a Rosie at my work too. She sends screen shots and points out your mistakes as if your mistake will derail everything and the company will end in ruin. However, if you find a mistake She made, "oh it's just a slip of the finger."Â
Her future at the company is NOT rosy (ie), thatâs for sure đ„
If I were the supervisor, Iâd be demanding to be left out of these emails.
You are right to cc everyone when you fix her mistakes otherwise she can accuse you of changing data without her knowledge. Always cya
I don't mind when people take issue with the quality of my work or point out my mistake, as long as you do it to my face first. If I refuse to take the appropriate steps to fix the issue then you can go to my manager. I hate people who go straight to a manager for the slightest issues not realizing they're putting other people's livelihood on the line when they do that. Or maybe that's why they're doing it.
Worked with a young woman like this. CCâd everyone in about anything that the Top Finance Manager, three levels up, didnât need to know. It was so annoying.
But then we had this messenger chat thing, company wide. This dingbat would update her âstatusâ to say âItâs so boring todaaaaaaaaayyyyyâ or âI hate everyoneâ. Like it was MSN. We watched it change for a week or so before we said anything.
Dingbat got in trouble.
I had an colleague years ago that did that. Seemed to take pleasure in pointing out my mistakes while CC-ing the boss. It was my first job so naively I thought colleagues should look out for each other, like just send me a DM or something. He was eventually fired for something else and it was the best day of my life.
Your actions probably had Rosie crackling.
There are two kinds of people in this world, those who like Neil Diamond and those who donât
A lot of wasted thoughts
Iâm surprised your manager didnât stop this behaviour. One thing is reporting a serious issue and another is reporting typos and minor mistakes. Iâd shut this down immediately once I saw a pattern.
Rosie doesn't sound like the kind of person that gives a shit.
I worked with her for years I can tell you that she's pissed.
Well then Good. It qualifies as proper revenge!
She may not give a shit but she should take a shit because she is full of it.
This is petty, but like corporate petty. You didnât invent the rule, you just followed the precedent she set. Love a long-game callback đ
Heartwarming (NOT sarc)
The alternative is Beansie (given name Beansarelli) where you are a front and on the take, paying protection. Artie wasn't cut out for anything else.
Iâm so tempted to copy and paste your post into Word, edit it with âTrack Changesâ enabled, screenshot the results, and post it here, Ccâed to other Reddits. đ
She sounds unhappy, the poor dear.
Well, if people are supposed to do until others as they would have done until them, then Rosie wants it that way.
If you are only doing it for her and she find out she could prob have you up for bullying.
Just a thought: If your current supervisor doesn't know the backstory about why you're doing this, aren't you just making yourself look like a petty AH in your supervisor's eyes?
Oh I don't cc my sup on anything. Rosie doesn't work for my sup she works for HER sup. That's who is getting cc'ed on everything. If my sup knew about this she'd roll her eyes and laugh.
Bro my MMO brain was struggling to understand the title like yeah normally you want to use Crowd Control on the boss unless it's immune
Hilarious đ
It definitely sucks if ppl cc bosses by mistake though if they aren't supposed to do it đ
