It may not answer your question, but if you need a metal pen with a smooth metal grip that can take Energel refills, Zebra Sarasa Gran is quite inexpensive and a very good pen!
I understand! Then in the Parker G2 format refill, the OHTO Flash Dry (I think it comes with the pen) is very popular. MonteVerde Ceramic gel refills another!
Ohto GS01 is Parker G2 refill compatible so you can fit many Parker G2 gel refills that are about as good as Energel. I have Itoya gel refill in mine which is just as smooth as Energel.
There are mixed opinions about the Schneider Gelion+. Some say it doesn't fit in the GS01 and others say it could possibly fit in the GS02. So, I am confused.
I wonder how Ohto's own gel refill works? I wonder if it's smooth? If it is, maybe I could try that.
Parker G2 form is ISO standard but not all manufacturers follow ISO specification exactly. Schneider Gelion+ might be such a case.
Ohto's own gel refill should definitely fit. It has excellent reviews as well. Only drawback is that it comes in 0.5mm tip and in black ink only. My GS01 came with Ohto gel refill that I swapped out as 0.5mm tip is too fine for my taste.

I've tried the Zebra Sarasa Grand. I would prefer the looks and feel of the Ohto GS01.

Thank you.
Is the Ohto Flash Dry that comes with the pen, smooth? I tend to prefer gel refills, so, I am curious.
No
Thanks for the swift response!

I wasn't able to find the Itoya gel refill. I'm in the UK.
Do a search on refills in this sub-reddit. A member did an extensive list on refills.
Schneider Gelion+ may be more readily available in UK. Parker QuinkGel is another good gel refill.
Thank you!

I see. Thank you again for devoting your time and energy to help me out.
Don't discount Parker QuinkGel. It's a decent gel refill from the company that set the ISO standard. It's OG.

It won't help with this pen, but it might help you pick the next.

Thank you. This list is good.
Given that they are click top it might be possible with cutting down the energel refill to parker size.
Interesting. Thank you.
I've given up on energel. I am based in the UK. I wonder what gel refills will fit in the Ohto GS01 apart from its own ballpoint refill.
