People tend to find this sort of thing funny (either as in funny-weird or funny-haha) when there isn't actually a problem with people speeding in the area.
Getting really angry at a house being built in a vacant lot is funny, too. It's always fun to laugh at people who get angry over nothing. Dude is clearly the type of person who gets angry at people just existing. It's fun to laugh at miserable losers. Consider yourself lucky that you haven't come across any.
Ughh yeah, when you are on the street doing a real audit with police and town officials and I’m on their lawn taking photos to make note of real things to help, a obviously fake speed cam (after I know they asked for one from town and was told no) is hilarious especially next to a real speed feedback sign the town put in that’s not satisfied him, the whole town talks about the fake speed camera and we have to discuss it in a meeting- yeah I’m still laughing and prob gonna talk abt it for the rest of my career
I’m a transportation engineer, and I literally had to put their fake signs in my typed up recommendations for the road and explain which signs were real and which signs were fake in my official report y’all I’m dying I still can’t get over this and this is my local area too 😭😂

It’s not illegal since it’s their property they can do what they want, and the town officials I spoke to about it aren’t too worried since it does deter speeding (?), which is a problem anyway on that road (why I was there) And this is Rhode Island so everyone kind of knows each other( no exaggeration Lol). It’s not hurting anyone so they’re not gonna pick a fight It’s not MUTCD (US sign standards) that’s for sure id be annoyed but it’s more funny than causing harm
Now if they mess with the signs we post that’s another story… and there are needed signs to be posted there for proper curve warnings so I’m hoping they don’t cause a fuss…
Background info as well the catch basin near their wall at the end of their driveway used to be elevated, and multiple cars stuck the raised catch basis and flipped so that’s another reason they made the fake signs. The town fixed the raised catch basis issue though so no more major accidents but speeding on the curve is still a problem

This pensioner has loads of free time since their family doesn’t visit them because they refuse to embrace change. This boomer most likely made their job their entire personality and lacked hobbies so when they retired they became bored. So now the pensioners mind is slipping with age and all that free time leads to being nosy and meddling in others business.

One of our local sign guys (we have 2) put up a hand painted sign that said "the limit is 25 MPH!!" and someone added a "1" to it, so it said "the limit is 125 MPH!!". He then changed it to "25 mph (please)" lol. Our other sign guy just puts up bitchy karen type shit.

That’s nothing we live in the middle of a very old tight community and they have had some developer come in and buy every single small little lot and shoved four stick built houses right across our street in a lot. That is the size that has one house on it, the rest of the street and neighborhood. So I kind of feel for this guy.
I’m watching them do it in my working-class neighborhood. Ripping down houses that people could afford, that just needed extra care like my own to get back to working order.
Shoving four 900k monstrosity houses on top of a property that used to be affordable for normal working people is pretty depressing. The construction blocked off our entire neighborhood for months.

The people who laugh at the misfortune of others, like this are people who do not own their own property do not have any kind of income that is invested into such property and have nothing but ill will towards those who do and their opinions of those who encroach in their living spaces in a negative manner
there was a really bad accident hot spot on part of the a1. before they managed to get a real spoed camera the residents put up a pretty convincing fake one. it did slow people down. very diffrent area the a1 is built on what used to be the main roman Road out of London.
