Greetings all ❤️ Me and my partner (early 30s) are planning to take a trip to Joshua Tree/Palm Springs between 12/30 - 01/02 -- we have a few things planned already but trying to figure out what cost effective thing we can do for NYE that won't be too overwhelming? My partner is more of an introverted artist, so I was thinking maybe we could potentially spending a few hours early in the night 8-10pm at the Aqua Caliente casino before ending the night at a late night dinner reservation at Kitchen in the Desert. What do you all think? Any suggestions/unique experiences that might be better?
Thanks for your time.

I would avoid the casinos on NYE, if you’re concerned about being overwhelmed by crowds.
Do you have any alternative ideas? I was thinking we could swing 2 hours of activity so long as we end somewhere more tame
Palm Springs is an adult party scene, either for LGBT folks on Arenas, or elsewhere along Palm Canyon. There won't be too many options for quiet social time on NYE. I would say perhaps take a nighttime drive to Joshua Tree on NYE? Would be a great time to stargaze. (though being out on the roads on NYE could be unsafe.)
Not sure where you're staying (short term rental? hotel?) but I'd say if you're near downtown, perhaps you can walk around downtown a bit early on to have a little social time. A fair number of shops/cafes will still be open in late afternoon and maybe early evening - and when you are all peopled out you can head back to your lodgings, watch a movie, and chill out.
The north Koffi (515 Palm Canyon) has a big garden in the back - get a big drink and go sit and chill out there. (open until 5:30 NYE).
I'd normally suggest a visit to the Art Museum as a possible option, but it's closed on both 12/31 and 1/1, so unfortunately that's not an option - which is a shame - someone there missed the boat on planning a fun NYE kind of thing. (It will be open on 12/30.)
Thank you for your detailed reply. Quite the shame indeed we won't make it to the art museum but i definitely want to check out the coffee place ❤️
Joshua tree is a dark sky park and is incredibly breathtaking at night, especially at the point where you can see the fault, you can see the surrounding cities(albeit far away) I'd say find a place to get a nice meal near by and go back to the park(I'm extremely introverted)
