All it needs now is a milspec ultra durable waterproof carbon fibre and steel reinforced casing with a tough heavily insulated cable designed to withstand accidental pulling of force up to 100000N incase it were to be mistakenly attached to a car.
Absolutely! Reliability is a must. Just imagine what would you do if you can't use your computer when your neighbor blows a nuke in his living room. Better safe than sorry
A nuke going off near the device is a possibility but the likelihood is reasonably low so it would be best to focus the development costs towards implementing a self destruct function in the event that the device may be commandeered by isis insurgents. We would need at least 5 levels of failsafe and a minimum factor of safety of 7000
having a separate power switch physical device work better as a failsafe though (e.g. the esp could be on a separate network while the server network card failed)

I was honestly thinking about implementing a way for me to send console commands remotely for the purposes of locking down the computer.

I do have a satellite tv, it's just a matter of reverse engineering their protocols and backpacking off of their infrastructure.
ESP_Power_Button repo is 404 for me on github. Can you make it public? Would like to take a look at the code.
Just made it public. Sorry about that, I was so sure this time that I hadn't messed up anything. Thanks for pointing it out.
Got it now, thanks!
honestly the ability to remotely turn on a pc is super cool and practical for server use case
Hmmm.... For a server, I would think that Wake-on-LAN would be a better option.

iLO, iDRAC, WoL, etc
Slapbox
Anyway... how did they code with thier pc broken
Used a screwdriver to short the power button contacts to turn it on.
WOL Exists lmao
