In need of a side quest. So I figure screw it, top comment telling me what to do by the end of the week wins. Must be legal.

edit: i appreciate everyone in here and all the good ideas. i honestly never really use reddit and i had no idea what r/outside was about. I am trying to figure out how to talk about the game but in the meantime i appreciate everything said :-)

  • I want you to make your own feel good strategy guide

A list of all the crap that makes your happy bar go up in the green this week or in general

The stuff you see in the environment you like. The day to day quests. Hobbies. The emergency happiness health pack activities. All it

Phrase it all like the outside game meta and then come back here and publish it to us

Also get a few numbers of some close PCs you can reach out to when you get close to the edge on there but make sure not to show us them

Great idea, we could all use more Strategy Guides from the playerbase. Lean on the community OP! Nobody wants you to go AFK here.

This is great. Previously when my bar was low, I spent my time listening to my favorite in-game tracks, but I abused it too much and it got patched, so now I need to discover more hidden tracks.

  • Get into bird watching.

Isn't it easier to just watch some Youtube bird gameplay?  I don't really get observing these fidgety characters in real time

  • Pick up a hobby that asks you to do something with your hands that's incremental. Something like [Watercolors], [Modeling], [Sculpture], [Candlemaking], [Fiber Arts], or [Woodworking], because they're all done in stages and all require drying time. I can really recommend [Fiber Arts.] Some studies suggest they give you a ton of healthy all-over brain activity.

This was magical for me while I was bed bound on and off due to the [Disability] debuff that came with Avatar generation.

These [Skills] all scale so, so well, and you can do multiple at once if you want to, but also give you the ability to say, "Just get through this little part and then I can be done for today." So rewarding and doesn't ask too much.

When you're done with it, you can always list it in a Buy Nothing group or donate it.

No matter what, don't go AFK, OP.

I appreciate you. i actually have gotten somewhat into woodworking in the last two months. my dad came to visit and we built a bed frame and i just built myself a coffee table. my goal is to replace all the furniture in my house with stuff i built haha

This is such a cool plan, take many pictures and don't forget smaller projects like cutlery dividers, coasters, picture frames, bookends, lighting, rebuild it all!

  • Learn how to spin woll into yarn.

I can recommend this too. I love spinning. You can spin two yarns together as well!

remember that anything you spin, you're going to end up folding in half when you're finished. So, let's say you spin 5ft. when you're done, you're going to take your two ends, attach them to something, and back away 2.5ft. The two halves will twist together -- evenly, if you guide it -- and that's where your "ply" comes from in yarn.

When I twist two aran "weight" (thickness) cotton yarns together, I end up with a 4-ply cord of yarn, because those two strands have folded in half.

  • Bro try disc golf it’s the best

I love disc golf. i need to start doing that again

  • Min/max your build. Get as many stats as you can to their maximum. Mood, sleep, food, get them all in the best places they can be.

  • You should ask someone out on a [date]. Good luck, player!

  • The hiking minigame is a great way to enjoy the outdoor game mechanics.

Yeah, walking is surprisingly complex and immersive in this game.

  • Capture a particularly large frog player

  • Catch a cool bug (safely), learn about it, tell us next day, and release it back

  • Invite your best clan members to a night of mini games in your cave. Ask them to bring a snack or drink. Have a good time taking on quests together. Rinse repeat.

  • Become a birder. Create a bird lifer list of at least 5 birds in your area. Then your quest is to get a picture of each one. Report back here and share when you have the gallery that Includes a picture of each one. Bonus exp will be rewarded for exceptional pictures.

  • Go plane spotting

  • Max out charisma.

  • Find a local music night that looks interesting and go along. You never know when you're going to find the next act you like.

  • Gain proficiency at the [Guitar] item

  • I’ve been getting into the hobbie (photography). Actually really fun

  • If you ever need a time sink, strategy games are a great one.

Some varied suggestions would be Civilization 6, Starcraft 2, Riichi Mahjong, Advance Wars/Fire Emblem, Against the Storm.

They're all pretty different from each other so hopefully at least one of them is interesting!

  • Learn the pathfinding skill and go to a wilderness map off the main player path. Use your pathfinding skill to trek across the map from one path to another.

    Do not do this. 👍
