This has me laughing way too much

Yeah I saw wild ones like that too and it always cracks me up how people just roll with it.

I saw one that said to "inject into penis".

OD is right eye and O.D. is once daily. You’re not supposed to use the non eye version.

    parent
    38 points v_i_lennon

Interesting! Would OS be left eye then?

    parent root
    16 points Abbot_of_Cucany

    Yes

    parent root
    7 points Lalamedic

    Also by mouth

    parent root
    17 points pendigedig

    PO?

    parent root
    8 points Lalamedic

    Per Os

    parent root
    5 points pendigedig

Lol what's the by mouth you were mentioning?

    parent root
    4 points Weary-Chart4243

I’m so confused how did you deduce OS as being “left eye” from knowing “OD” was right?

    parent root
    13 points ThePeaceDoctot

D for dexter, meaning right, and S for sinister, meaning left

    parent root
    3 points v_i_lennon

O is probably for oculus or something similar pertaining to the eyes. Dexter means right so S for sinister, left, felt reasonable.

    Doctors love their Latin.

    parent root
    11 points ninetentacles

If you take it by mouth and are not expected to then lick your own eyeball, it'd be "PO QD". If you're supposed to spit it in someone else's eye, they should have used the leading verb "give" instead.

    parent root
    3 points LoogyHead

That’s horrible interpretation of sig codes. Should only be QD not O.D.

    how… using your tongue?

I think bovine people can work this too.

    parent root

Giraffes shouldn’t have any problem either

    parent root
    8 points Kendaren89

It doesn't say it needs to be your eye 😂

    parent root
    9 points NorCalFrances

Oh, gods - not the eyeball licking thing again. It was bad enough the first time around, maybe 15 years ago.

    OD = in right eye

    QD = daily

and that completes our intensive three-week course

    parent
  • 19 points OrdinaryAverageHuman

Well how about that. I’ve been doing it wrong all these years.

    parent
  • 6 points Esjs

So I need to find somebody that can spit it into my eye?

    parent

im actually curious, have time to kill, and tempted to call the number

    parent
  • 5 points wharleeprof

You take the tablet orally and then use the power of your mind to send all the medication to treat your right eye only.

    parent
  • 8 points reden_fx

I'd feel so uncomfortable taking medical stuff that doesn't even have correct instructions...

    parent
  • 4 points EpicNinjaSloth

Well, I guess that's one way to put a whole new spin on eye drops

    parent
  • 3 points Kendaren89

It doesn't say it needs to be your tongue or eye. It's easy with friend. 👅👀

    parent
  • 4 points fosf0r

    Ow! My eye!

I'm not supposed to get tablet in it!

    parent
  • 4 points IntelligentPath4383

I had a similar situation. It said my oxy was to be swallowed blah blah in right ear.

    parent
  • 3 points Hefty-Act-7731

Into the right eye of yourself? Or into the right eye of somebody else. Instructuions slightly unclear, will test all possibilities.

We got a new computer system at the pharmacy where I worked. One of the pharmacists tried doing something without reading the manual first, and he managed to corrupt the file that had all the abbreviations in it. Suddenly, refill labels that had previously printed normally were coming out as gibberish (like "every other insufflate refrigerate rectally").

I have a left eye, and wrong eye. I guess I'll skip the second part.

    parent
  • 2 points Turbulent_Bother4701

This sounds super painful!! I really don't know how you get something from your mouth into your right eye but it definitely wouldn't feel good regardless.

    parent
  • 2 points LoogyHead

    1 po od

That’s the quick code for this mishap. What they meant was 1 po qd. Not entirely sure how they messed up the Q for O when they are on entirely different parts of the keyboard.

It reminds me of that MTV cartoon. Aeon flex, where the eye eats the fly....
