The whole point of “one bagging” is to pack light and enjoy the numerous advantages this brings anyone when traveling. Having a separate and smaller bag can be an important ENHANCEMENT to this principle because on the plane you have better security, convenience and quicker access to some of your items and then this .5 bag can perform double duty as a day bag.
This isn’t necessary for all trips but to talk ill of this or to refuse yourself this option when it is helpful makes absolutely no sense. This is literally just being smart.
Nice, this might be a good opportunity for people to distance themselves from the one bag proletariat and be "two-thirds baggers" or even "point seven two baggers" and the like. I have to admit I haughtily find most of the posts on this reddit to showcase astronomically oversized and overpacked bags.
I'm willing to not report you to the One Bag Certification authorities so long as your fannypack can fit inside your backpack if you really squeeze it in.
Technically it's 1,5 bags, but I have a similar setup and I count it as onebagging. Ther is no jury that judges you on how many bags you have ;-) so don't stress too much about it.
For me it’s carry on vs checked and hands free on the ground. I usually travel with an overhead sized backpack and a 6.5-8 liter shoulder bag as a personal item. I can wear both at the same time.
I travel internationally for work with a 50 lb bag of tools typically and bring a 40l carry on plus a 15l to throw under the seat. I consider myself a one bagger. I have typically have work specific clothes including dressed up meeting clothes and (dirty)work shoes, pants and shirts. I have a weird job where I have government ceremonies but the actual work is mechanical and hard and dirty.
When I have tools at my location I do one bag but the intent is always there to under pack. I pack as light as possible.
If I’m a one bagger, you are more so. No one is judging you.
Some airlines allow only one bag. Can you put the fanny pack in your main bag? Then travel without worry.
The ones that annoy me are the ones that call themselves “onebaggers” and bring a 40 liter bag plus a 35 liter bag. Their “personal” bag is bigger than my one and only main bag!!! That is definitely not onebagging.
don't stress it
Not stressing... had nothing to do so I thought I qould ask. ;)

If you identify as a one bagger than you are
sure
I’ve heard this called a 1.5 bagger
In my area it's called 1.2 bagger
This is why I call myself a three-quarter bagger.

This objectively makes more sense. Yet, I hate it.
I was actually just trying to make a dumb joke
Oh. I mean… it does make more sense though

Of course.

yes
Relax. It’s not that big of a deal.
Why does it matter at all?
Really just curious and I promise it only matters what you think.
It matters on airlines thar allow only one bag.
Yeah and obviously not the spirit of my comment at all.

Yeah, that still counts. One main bag plus a small crossbody for essentials is pretty common. The goal is traveling light, not following strict rules.
