The TSA wants skateboards inside your carry-on bag, but you should also check the airline sports-equipment policy for their specific rules. Keep in mind that really long boards, or all-terrain models with huge wheels and/or electric assist via battery will almost certainly trigger additional rules/scrutiny.
Yes, it’s doable, but you have to compromise. Most one bag travelers strap the board outside with compression straps or carry it by hand through airports. Deck only is easiest, trucks and wheels in the bag. Some airlines allow it as carry on, some don’t, so be ready to gate check. It’s not clean or elegant, but it works if skating matters to you.
If you're an ultra minimalist packer, then you're in luck cause Goruck just released the Skate Ruck recently, a collab with a childhood hero of mine Mike V. I'm 37 and with bad knees, so my skating days are over, but that's an awesome bag I would have traveled with when I was young and skating.
i have a pantheon prana, it’s a funky g-wagon magic carpet ride. the double drop deck is a little bigger than a standard street deck, street trucks… but i have big ole 92mm wheels.
i was skating in airports, BNA, NYC, CDG, was amazing!!! especially in great cities also. it’s how it should be people with all their wheels slowly blocking walkers.
I take one of my trucks off(w wheels) and the other i take off the hangar w wheels. No one has said anything and why should they. it’s a flat piece of wood. Boarding without wheels really keeps a low profile—would recommend it.
bring your skate tool, even practice a little, have a little baggie for hardware
Dude, reach out to Adrian Oh, a Singaporean skateboarder I hung out with years ago who went on to skate 24000km across four continents.
Solid bloke; he'll most likely be happy to share his experience and wisdom.
thanks any contact info for him
Haven't been in contact for years, but he's written a couple of books so shouldn't be hard to find.
what are the book names

Sounds like a sick idea. Best of luck!
My nephew one bag travels with a razor scooter. It's a big bag, but it is only one bag.
