Just as the title states, I'm making a list of all the featured the administration has systematically removed from old.reddit. If you know of some, please tell me, and I'll add it to the list.

  • I think it would be great if this post had a bit more of a developed description for example how it worked, why it's better than new reddit / better than not existing at all and a screenshot of it. Just because a bit more of a developed discussion is more likely to inform and engage. If possible, that is.

    I'll add:

    • "Use old reddit" in preferences (and working): While we can select this option, some links redirect us to new reddit, and from then on, everything is now new reddit. Upon logging in, we also stay in new reddit. When clicking on google search links, we are directed to new reddit.

    • Log in: Previously available in old reddit in the sidebar, as well as at the top of the page. Now, the log in redirects to the new reddit log in.

    • Sign up: previously able to sign up to reddit with old reddit. Also: previously able to sign up without attaching an email address to it.

    Expanding on DMs:

    • We were able to send direct messages to mods and to other users. It was in a long text format which encouraged and allowed us to quote bits of their messages, have long discussions, more in-depth, and richer, as well as sharing sources and links. Like letters, long DMs are not about replying fast, or many times: it's more about quality over quantity. But also, it allows for quantity. It is also easier to read and follow as a recipient.

    I'm also unsure about the following, but I used to have access to a page customization, like subreddits had their own CSS, and now they don't have it, or at least some don't. No longer have the cool banner or other customizations. Some have it but not all. That may have been the mods deactivating them, though.

    The new profile page got scrapped long ago, probably due to backlash. You can still post to your profile subreddit, and your profile will still show your custom Reddit logo if you uploaded one, but your profile picture, banner, etc. will only appear on the comments page of profile subreddit posts. I didn’t know you could edit the CSS of it, brings me to a blank page these days so maybe they’ve stripped that out entirely

    I don't understand. Do subreddits have 'profile pages'? I thought profiles referred to personal profile pages.

  • idk if this counts but I still remember the old Snoovatars that used to be on user profiles, seems like they deleted it entirely from old.reddit around 2023 or smth

  • I can no longer report comments in old reddit. I click "report" and it opens the pop-up, but then it's impossible to select the reason why I'm reporting, and in consequence I can't report.

    Was it for a particular subreddit or every subreddit? Did you do it on mobile or on a desktop?

    Same here. Using laptop with RES and reporting hasn't been working for a few days or even weeks, and in different subreddits.

    Edit: Seems to be working here now. I wonder what happened.

  • Despite promises we're being squeezed out. Reddit has no loyalty to its long time users, we're just an inconvenience. It wouldn't be so bad if "New Reddit" wasn't such a train wreck.
