We really have gotten to the point where making a post about a fictional character is seen as political because there’s a pedo involved, which is now political because our government is commonly understood to be run by pedos.
I just finished a response that I think addresses my concerns about that, actually.
Essentially, those are still allegations, and not even allegations the criminal justice system is making. Just people like us.
Like…the highest legal authority in the land is repeatedly assuring us powerful people aren’t implicated in this. And sure, we all know they’re lying, but it still means my post was removed based on a point that I feel is wavering at best.
The issue isn't that it's assumed politicians might be implicated in them, it's that the uncertainty and debate around that has made it a political issue.
I agree with that somewhat, but given that the entire reason that debates exists is due to a staggering lack of transparency surrounding the case, I still feel that spoiler-tagging oblique references to it is a bad look. You can see I tagged my meme yesterday because it was very overt, which is the usual standard.
I mean, this meme wasn’t even commentary on the case, I just thought it would be funny to imply Max is a diddler utilizing current events.
I see how the joke wasn't meant to be political, despite the topic it was based on being controversial. Generally it's better to aire on the safe side though, as the political tag doesn't really hurt anything.
It's mostly just that the biggest reason the redactions and censors are such a controversy are because it is widely believed that they are largely there to protect politicians and other powerful people, most pressingly the current POTUS. In that light I can see why any redaction meme like this would get hit with the politics tag.
That’s the thing, right? It’s all speculation at this point. Innocent until proven guilty means that my memes aren’t political at this point. And labelling them as political spoilers means that a person believes that politicians are heavily implicated, and also that they’re willing to suppress that idea. Those are only allegations, and it’s questionable at best to base our rule judgements on unlawful speculation.
Obviously this will all be included in my class action lawsuit against r/okbuddyrosalyn management. (Editor’s Note: please god don’t ban me)
But you have to understand, from my point of view, that this censorship of even the most circumspect Epstein memes comes on the heels of Luigi Mangione memes being stuck with the political tag despite no political connection, and every single Kirk meme being deleted just moments after posting - including this one here, which doesn’t mention Kirk at all.
The way the rules are being implemented leaves a lot of room to wonder about whether they’re being applied in good faith. 18 months ago memes were not subject to nearly the scrutiny they seem to be now - and I even tested this at one point by reposting one of my most popular memes, which was quickly removed, despite the original remaining in Top Posts of All Time.
The standards have shifted, and the inconsistencies make it difficult to post. The sub has less daily activity now than it had a year ago, and part of the reason is that some of the best posts we get are getting removed or censored for being about current events. I suspect we drive away the creativity and relevance that keeps these spaces alive by doing this.
About 18 months ago reddit went public and started nuking controversial subs from orbit. Gocomics nuked the main sub from orbit. I'm very sorry that wasting .0000001 seconds of your time by clicking flair button is a rage inducing inconvenience

“… once I’m an ICE agent and can arrest and deport him …”
[Redacted]ing to close to the sun huh
Given that every single Charlie Kirk meme was immediately taken down, I just assume the mods got appointments to the DOJ earlier this year.
uncle max is all over that list

“Political”
"pedophilia is bad" such controversial politics need to be flaired!!!!
Lmao in what universe would the referred event/subject not be political
Uncle Max being a pedo? Doesn’t seem political to me.
Maybe you can point to where a political view is espoused or where a political figure is mentioned, to help make a case for that?
.....this is a joke based on the Epstein files case. If that isn't political, nothing is.
Also, a post can be "political" without there being any "political views espoused".
We really have gotten to the point where making a post about a fictional character is seen as political because there’s a pedo involved, which is now political because our government is commonly understood to be run by pedos.
Can you stop the room? I’d like to get off please
It's seen as political because it's about the release of the Epstein files, which is very political.

It’s great meta material.
And?
Rage inducing? I didn’t get any form of anger other than confused frustration from any of what they said
You fool, his name appears in the comic itself, you've doomed him to face his consequences for his actions!
Wait what's the uncensored version?

Wait, we can just ASK for the uncensored versions?!
“We have uncensored versions at the Department of Justice”
At the doj: ⬛️⬛️⬛️⬛️⬛️⬛️⬛️
Yeah idk why people haven't tried that
calvins commentary is perfect here
Don’t do Uncle Max dirty like this!
