I'm not sure, but they definitely have that vintage vibe. It feels like something out of the 70s or 80s. It’s wild how these old photos can still give chills!
Dude you happen to zoom in on the shorter kid and see the face in his hair and then the face in the pattern at the very top of his forehead??? Serious creep factor
Idk if its ai but it's edited to shit anyways. There is no space between the mask and the eyes. It feels like the eyes are just shopped on top of the jackets texture, there is no way a mask could fit that way.
The Orphanage, directed by J.A.Bayona and produced by Guillermo del Toro in 2007, focuses heavily on a child wearing a disturbing homemade mask like these. The film is equal parts horror and heartache- not campy at all. I recommend it to anyone looking for a beautiful story to crush their soul!
Ash Bentley has a video where she makes the left one in the second picture and then knits a whole terrifying outfit to match. The reveal is nightmare fuel 😆 https://youtu.be/UCRzJdFRAH0?si=ZpBfWyVDWlG687bw
The third picture was the worst. Their eyes were unusually beady and their mouths seem unrealistic. The cloth also seems to keep going where it probably normally wouldn't, up the forehead but still below the hairline? That one is probably shopped or faked.
The mouth and wig on the 3rd one have to be edited digitally right. Look how symmetrical all that is. The more I look at it, both kids have been shooped to hell.
It's ski season in Silent Hill!
XD
Holy mother of….
What decade are these from?
From what I can gather, it's a supplement that came with the Australian magazine 'The Weekly' from the late 50's to the mid 70's 🇦🇺
There's some C R A Z Y vintage stuff out there. Check out ravelry.com it's like yarn Facebook
Uppers back then hit different.

The OP replied to my comment 2 days ago and said it was late 50’s to 70’s.
What’s up with pic 3? The kid got a wig over his ski mask to make it extra creepy
He's my favourite one! The mouth slit is also horrifying 😱😀
Yes, why is the smaller one's mouth so big??? 😭
Hair and face look too symmetrical. I think someone mirrored half the head.
Yeah that one has to be weirdly edited. The taller kid is clearly mirrored (look at his teeth) and the shorter one’s mouth is enormous

It's super edited
It's photoshoped
It's AI
Def AI
Each one more horrifying than the last
New Slipknot album cover looking fire
This is how I would expect a Slipknot Christmas album to look
This the shit you wear during the purge
Yeah if we are going yarnageddon I think I’ll take my chances being purged instead.
These are awesome
“Teenagers” scare the living shit out of me
Pic 2 - a KKK one on left?
I'm fairly certain it's supposed to be a medieval Turkish "turban helmet" with the face-mask, but it definitely looks more like a KKK hood.
r/cursedcrochet
How is this not a horror film already?
If it does become one, they need to credit this sub.

As someone whos terrified of clowns and people in masks...fuck that shit.
I would buy
The Strangers 1975
The fact these were knitted makes them creepier than other masks. Actual hours of work and effort was made to produce these!
Lee mak's prize task item lol
Is this the origin story for Insane Clown Posse?
reminds me of the masks of aussie band TISM aka (this is serious mum)
"WHADDAYA, WHADAYA, WHADAYA -- A YOB ER A WANKA?!"
I want to show up like that to work (image 3).
3 omfg 🤣
This is just a 90s album cover
You can actually see the look on their faces under those ski masks and they’re not delighted. Just smile and pretend it’s comfortable
For all the AI talk in the comments, if you google lens the images, the pics are at least 12 years old.

Left bottom of Pic 2 = Tin Man?
Picture 3 appears to be ai
That picture was making rounds already 10ish years ago, so horrifyingly, it's real
I think it might've originally been an album cover though, not from a magazine.
It is bad Photoshop, for fun and creepiness factor 😁 AI really did fry every brain a bit with its existence lol.
It's scary how few people notice the blatant photoshopping there
I agree there's something off with it lol...but not everything is AI 😀
So people are afraid of AI slop now?
Axes are on page 6
All year round fashion! Skiing in the winter, robbing banks in the summer
Da fuck is that? lol
I love them
1 is giving Pulp Fiction.
Cheeki Breeki Skiee
Mary Maxim was a terrorist.
Calm down Dorothy
Winterknot
Omg picture 3 has me DYING
Photo 3 is hilarious and photo 5’s eyes look like the old man with his coffee at the computer
The last image has been photoshopped, and has been making the rounds for a while now.
Sweet dreams mofos
The Vlad the Impaler version in pic 4 is a nice touch.
The Burgle family reunion.
Chilly Cheeks

Do not show this to the IRA.
So... China started going through this in 2004 and is still rocking the trend nowadays.
Article about this on The Guardian
Me and my brother had ski masks like that as kids. 80's.
Pic 3 is a freaking trip. I kinda want a ski mask like that ngl
The mouth and wig on the 3rd one have to be edited digitally right. Look how symmetrical all that is. The more I look at it, both kids have been shooped to hell.
Those children and their fake edited mouths....
Wtf slide 3 is nightmare material
Who in the Ed Gein thought this would be a good idea??
Popular in Northern Ireland during the 80s
I asked my teenagers (based on the first magazine title) if they wanted one and they shuddered.
The little girl on picture 3 looks like the only thing she says is 'mouth'.
Last one is Owen Wilson
I know these are AI but I think they’re awesome
