I keep switching between awe and pure discomfort watching this. The way her feet actually roll through the steps and the little helpers dart around her makes it feel way too alive for something made of wood and fabric.
Consider for a minute that it's just a giant puppet.
I guess if you generally feel uncomfortable with puppets or you feel anxious when you see large things, (my wife has a kind of mild megalophobia), then your feeling makes sense.
i think its really typically just the face in these kinds of situations usually. I think its important to try appreciate it even if you originally dont really like it yk? Cause like i said it could be a really sentimentally significant thing to someone in their culture and then youve made it into a "oo spooky" thing
It's super cool. What an achievement to dream this up, design it, actually make it, and then see it marching down the road.

Picture that being your job, though you gotta stand in line, grab a rope and jump and then get back in line
looks like fun actually
Looks like a cool job and even when I've seen it IRL they look like they have fun
PS : The name of the company is Royal de Luxe
That is actually really cool. Would love to see this in person to see how it's done.
I saw granny in Limerick, Ireland more than 10 years ago, they tour Europe with their pieces. https://royal-de-luxe.com/en/creation/the-grandmother-fallen-from-the-galaxy-into-a-field-in-munster/
Ms doubtfire
nostalgia boner
This is cool as hell
Love the details! Leather shoes, her cheeks raised with her smile. It’s fantastic! Megalophopia, marionette style.
Yoooo that is impressive
fucking terrifying
Dunno why, but my first thought went to, "Rare enemy/or Boss encounter from Expedition 33"
I mean, alot of the enemies in expedition 33 got a artsncrafts feel to em, so a giant puppet held up by an armature? Could see it
Parry it!
You think the boss fight is against the giant woman. But actually if you destroy the contraption puppeteering her, she joins your side.
Attack on Titan moment.
This would scare me too tbh
I think its a cool piece of culture. We've become too obsessed with the uncanny valley effect, I believe.
agreed, i can see how this would be unnerving but my first thought was just that it's really cool and a cute concept

Already beats Macy’s parade.
I love how they have to line up jump off a platform to raise the knee, so cool, they must have to really practice to get the timing just right
Do that's the Geneva convention?
It's a marionette.
Not all puppets are marionettes but all marionettes are puppets.
Red light green light
It’s theatre
Mee Maw left the iron on two areas of her dress for too long…..
I want to know if pulling all those ropes by hand is really necessary or it's just for the show.
I won’t be able to sleep for weeks
dont look up at what the "halle de la machine" in Toulouse has in store for you then
Has way more movement than one punch (frame) man S3

Little nightmare vibes , where my coat!
Their elephant is shocking in its beauty.
I admire art that takes a hell of a lot of work to make and perform. Giant grandma puppet is pretty strange but I'm into it.
