as a fellow autism i must ask what the actual fuck is up with your handwritting, this is like the level i was at when iI was 6 I assume you're not 6 years old, my handwritting has only improved with time, what the hell are you doing?!
My son wrote like this too until he went to occupational therapy. Apparently he had a hand grip strength significantly lower than that of his peers. After he built up strength and practiced hand-eye coordination (as well as penmanship), his writing now is still quirky but readable by anyone. Huge improvement!
It’s called dysgraphia it is a neurological condition and learning disability in which someone has difficulty with writing for their age level. My sister has it and she has adhd and possibly autism. I’m not 100% but I think it’s common in people with learning disabilities.
I have ADHD and have mild dysgraphia. Fine motor skills are tough for me. But only some and while the difference seems obvious to me, it always confuses people that so.e aren't.
Writing is so hard, guitar is extra difficult, typing and piano are not really a problem. The more I have to take a shape or complex pattern in my head and translate it through my hands, the harder it is. Writing is probably especially hard because it was such a fight for me as a kid with adults who thought I should just fix it.
But I will say that like my dyspraxia (full-body clumsiness), it has gotten better with practice and age. My handwriting still sucks but if I really want to get better at something I can work hard at it and get to an intermediate level, so better than most.
The dyspraxia pretty much went away after doing martial arts for over a decade. The dysgraphia didn't but I've gotten a lot better at knowing how to practice things efficiently so I feel like if I really dedicated myself to working on it for like ten years I could achieve better-than-average-handwriting.
As an autism my handwriting is quite fucked, I get distracted, regularly lose my grip on the pen, misspell, stims in my hands do their thing to contribute etc.
I score highly academically but if we were way back when and they marked a written piece rather than a typed piece they'd probably diagnose me with a learning disability. My handwriting has actually gotten worse with age due to regression and joint issues in my hands from chronic stims that have done a number on my joints and muscles.
Its the whole - can't judge a fish by its ability to climb a tree thing
I have similar issues with writing, but from a connective tissue issue (plus what's almost certainly autism.) It's not super obvious, unless I haven't been writing recently. If I start handwriting things again after a while of not doing it then my handwriting is kinda awful.
Need a few days of handwriting before it gets back to a good state, and at least a week before I can write nicely again at any kind of speed.
I will say that all-caps writing helps. It tends to end up being easier to read, even on bad days.
I too am a fellow autism. My handwriting isn’t the neatest but I can stay in the lines! It might have been due to piano and drawing from an early age. My fine motor skills really suck in other areas though, it seems like it’s not always transferable.
Washington of miner. Went to capitol. Wellness with mom Starbucks, tics, called Land on in the morning, sitting with plhodn, watching sopranos, off meds,
and that last lost on me.
Knew a kid in middle school that wrote like this, he had some sort of diagnosis that caused his handwriting to look very similar. Very curious if you have something like that but aren't aware! Can you write more neatly if you try very hard? Fascinating!!!
luckily i can! when i write it kinda feels like the words crash into each other in my brain when i write so it just kinda makes these messes that don’t really look like cohesive words anymore and more like a bizarre fusion of nonsense. basically my brain is moving so fast that it makes my words jumbled and wrong and my hand and motor skills cant keep up. when i practice neater handwriting i have to actually slow my thoughts down and focus extremely hard on each letter so that my hand and brain can cooperate a bit better. sometimes my hand doesn’t know what to do once the thought has surpassed it to the next words so it just starts scribbling thinking it’s writing
My handwriting isn't quite that bad... Okay well sometimes it is, but it's different to yours and I don't scribble but like... I'm wondering if I have a similar issue with my brain. I'm probably a lot older than you, and I have never sought a diagnosis, and no I don't really believe in self diagnosing but... The brain racing part etc, is there an actual name for what you have described so I can do some research? Or is it literally just under the autism umbrella?
It's possible this strays into dysgraphia as some suggest, it tends to be comorbid with Autism. Dunno if you've been diagnosed with any comorbidities.
But I also think people can be kinda shocked at just how much of a grab bag Autism symptoms and their severity is.
I hate how much unintended damage framing Autism as this linear spectrum has done. I really think its why so many people can't understand how a "functional" person can be so unskilled in a particular area (or multiple areas).
School fucked my handwriting forever cos they forced us to write in cursive and said it would be "really important for highschool". Then i started highschool and the teachers didn't care how you wrote as long as it was readable.
My writing wasnt readable because i had dyspraxia and had it burned into my mind for the last 6 years that i have to join my letters up.
All I can ask is, is it because you don’t care or is it because you can’t help it? Either way, occupational therapy might be beneficial to you. OT helps with practicing life activities, maybe it would help.

a teacher in the comments actually deciphered most of it but i think they deleted their comment before i could respond to it
Maybe you're writing with you non-dominant hand. My husband has awful handwriting and we think maybe he's left handed but never worked it out when he was young
I think autism and dysgraphia are linked loosely. In the digital age it doesn't matter as much but if you want to work on it maybe see if you have that
Curious, have you ever gone to occupational therapy? I wonder if you could go specifically to improve your handwriting? If not, there are a lot of free resources out there that help. I found one ages ago that gives many practice pages for free for adults to improve handwriting.
Dec. 12 7pm, bee.
Wasted ton of money.
Went to capital wellness with mom.
Starbucks, tics.
Called London in the morning sitting with (pindoa?) watching sopranos off menu.
And it’s soft if Dan’s going past death.
It’s the time of year for spending too much money! but yeah this is a tough one to read. Luckily I had really crazy handwriting when I was younger so I’m not having too hard a time deciphering!

Autism is an umbrella term for a set of symptoms or behaviours, but it's a descriptive term rather than a specific disease. People with autism often have a range of other symptoms like ADHD, dyslexia, and (in OP's case, probably) dysgraphia. It's kind of pot luck, and one person's experience of autism might be absurdly different to someone else's.
I am not. I have some functional use of my left hand for writing due to the number of times I broke my right growing up however, not something I employ regularly

My first thought
"Collect my pages" ass handwriting
u/slendererman
Stop sharing my diary it’s very personal to me
Well stop pasting pages of it to random trees and objects
That's slenderman, this is slendererman
Oh yeah you’re right, must be the skinnier cousin
Goated reference
fuck I laughed so hard it hurt
i think it says paracetamol
No, too long. Obviously that says "clonidine 100ug 2 times per day with breakfast and dinner, do not take with alcohol"
Good bit
You could make a living writing ransom notes.
Or not cause they can't read it
Ransom but with disappointing ROI
Doctor immediately
idk how you expect me to become a doctor in an instant but i’ll try my best
yeah, your handwriting is way too readable to become a doctor
I remember seeing a meme a couple years ago where doctors were protesting something. The cartoon doctors were holding signs with unintelligible writing
LOL I see that
But that’s what all the schooling is for
Oh I thought they meant you had to go to the doctor, but this is nicer- glad you're gonna get your doctorate like that guy said then
Easy. You just walk into a clinic and present your handwriting as your application. You’ll be hired immediately.
It looks like you already might be
The chicken scratch is perfect
Almost. It's still roughly intelligible.
Not me thinking you meant OP needs to go to the dr because it's so bad, as opposed to becoming the doctor 😆

OP definitely needs occupational therapy too
Yeah, I think this has less to do with autism and more to do with lack of encouraging practice and therapies at a younger age.

My drafts page is littered with the bones of comments I never completed.
Some of us are just fucked 😭

Good lord this was hard to translate. I dont think i got everything right, either.
you actually got super close to getting everything right! i left the full translation in the comments somewhere :)
Hopital
dysgraphia (often comorbid with autism)
I have that too but holy shit
Sorry about your grandpa
God damn I love this font! Could you write the whole alphabet twice? One lowercase and one uppercase
Dude my handwritings bad but this is shit
Dysgraphia innit. Co-occurs with ADHD, autism, dyspraxia etc.
I think they’re saying something about The Sopranos
i am :)
Have you ever looked up dysgraphia? My dad has it, and his writing looks very similar unless he focuses real hard on writing in military block letters
I think this sounds like you also have dysgraphia :)
My handwriting isn't quite that bad... Okay well sometimes it is, but it's different to yours and I don't scribble but like... I'm wondering if I have a similar issue with my brain. Dysgraphia is difficult to deal with! I hope people treat you with understanding, OP.
something about ur handwriting soothes me idk why T^T
Does autism often cause major issues with handwriting?
not always, it just affected my motor skills a bit in some areas like my handwriting but it’s different for everyone
It can cause issues with motor control and coordination needed for handwriting but not really to this extent
Dysgraphia is a common symptom of people with Autism spectrum disorder, as a lot of people with autism can struggle with fine motor skills.
Mine looks like that too if I don’t have the paper completely sideways. Idk when I figured it out but try it, it might make yours clearer too
Are you left handed?
I naturally write with my paper turned 45° counterclockwise
My Kanji Handwriting is Better than my Romaji Handwriting so I feel you on this (I Have Asperger’s.)
my handwriting looks so similar what the fuck man😭
dysgraphia moment
yes you get it oh my gee :o
same
Gel pens make my handwriting horrible.
Ooooo I see Sopranos mentioned. My fav tv show
SpEd teacher here- you’re doing great!
I see "off meds" in there. Please take care of yourself. I hate my meds too but I gotta take them.
my doctor messed up my prescription so i am currently out and suffering really bad honestly, thank you for caring
Basically fuck cursive i hope it dies
All I can ask is, is it because you don’t care or is it because you can’t help it? Either way, occupational therapy might be beneficial to you. OT helps with practicing life activities, maybe it would help.
Hope the sopranos are doing your night

You should check if you don't have disgraphia
This ain't the autism brother, this is acient sumerian
Thanks I hate it (I also have autism)
you should become a doctor
No way, I have the same kind of handwriting! Were you by chance diagnosed with specifically Non-Verbal Learning Disorder?
Can you read your writing?
I get it. Mines like that. I can read it and that’s all that matters to me
I don’t hold it pencil properly either and I wouldn’t let them correct me
Look into dysgraphia
Great taste in television.. I love The Sopranos!
Oddly enough, I didn’t know autism could make handwriting worse
I hope you don’t feel too bad. My sister writes like this too so you aren’t alone. You could have dysgraphia.
Maybe you're writing with you non-dominant hand. My husband has awful handwriting and we think maybe he's left handed but never worked it out when he was young
Hey, just wanted to say that this looks a lot like dysgraphia. I'm no expert, but try searching it up and seeing if you can relate to the struggles
I have the flavor of autism where holding a pencil correctly stresses me out. My handwriting sucks because I hold that shit like I hold a water bottle
Me too.
I think autism and dysgraphia are linked loosely. In the digital age it doesn't matter as much but if you want to work on it maybe see if you have that
you should do tagging in alleyways, graffiti artists would love you
Same but like a quarter of the font size.
Curious, have you ever gone to occupational therapy? I wonder if you could go specifically to improve your handwriting? If not, there are a lot of free resources out there that help. I found one ages ago that gives many practice pages for free for adults to improve handwriting.
Do you happen to be a zombie that works for Dr.Zomboss?
bro thats sum einstein level type shit
i think you have dysgraphia too m8

you sure you don't have a problem with your hands?
Now THAT’S interesting!
Mines the same
What in the fuck 😭
This is your non dominant hand, right?
My Brother has Autism and has extremely neat handwriting
Autism is an umbrella term for a set of symptoms or behaviours, but it's a descriptive term rather than a specific disease. Fix that shit.
They probably can't fully. Dysgraphia can be helped to an extent, but it's fundamentally a disability.
buddy please slow down. Thats literally all you need to do. slooooooow. write slowly. Or dont and go faster so even you cant read it. Spite everyone
Can you people do anything? (please get the referecne PLEASE I don't want to sound like an asshole)
This looks like schoolboyq type of handwriting
I am not. I have some functional use of my left hand for writing due to the number of times I broke my right growing up however, not something I employ regularly
I got ok handwriting
yeah, happens
I thought this was some fallout3 reference at first.
Fellow autism and left-handed person here and....damn.....

You should get a diagnosis for dysgraphia.
I could almost read all of it haha I’ve worked with kids and had to decipher their writing before. I guess maybe it helps I also have autism
5 dollars? Get outta here
Try using your dominant hand
Footwriting
Look into disgraphia
my handwriting is SLIGHTLY better than this but yeah
Still more legible than a Dr's notes
