Idk if this dude is lying or not but I've definitely had random hickey-looking bruises pop up that my boyfriend was ultra suspicious of and i couldn't do anything about it bc how do you prove the cause of a bruise. -.-
I'm sayin, I fell a few weeks ago at work while I was holding my ladder on my shoulder and the only bruise was a small one on my collarbone. It irritated me cause the pain was everywhere lmao.
I get this sometimes too because I have dermographia so I bruise easily and scratching looks like red welts. I take allergy meds but they don't really stop the reaction. I can draw on myself and play knots and crosses 😂
Duuude ask your doctor for Hydroxyzine. I was prescribed that for anxiety off label, but it ERASES itching. Only works for 6hrs at a time though and does make you drowsy. I love it for sleep when I’m itching from allergies or insect bites.
My husband decided to move a railroad tie by himself. I watched him do it (he told me not to help, chill), and the way he held it left a hickey like bruise that eventually turned into a scar. I didn't even know bruises could scar
my ex used to get suspicious for any kind of bruise, even on legs. This was while knowing I was anemic, and commonly had bruises on my legs appearing overnight
literally the first time the sub popped up for me it was a ‘oh yeah that seems like bullshit oh well’ then by the third time it’s ’oh you people don’t have anything going on…’
That's quite literally everything on reddit? It's a bullshit sub. I was in it for a while, left after it made me groan too much. The 'could be fake' part is only used for an OP to deflect.
I've had shit fall on me at work while getting boxes off of high shelves because I'm a clumsy fucker. I've gotten bruises like that on my face, boob, shoulder, whatever. This honestly doesn't seem that outlandish
I am clumsy and work in the trades. Sometimes I look like someone used me as a human piñata. Ive absolutely had bruises like these on my neck from hammering it into something
It's a hickey. A box doesn't pull on the skin to cause a bruise, the way that bruise fades either side has pulled on the skin, not impacted it... Sorry but I would not believe him for a second.
I have lots of weird cuts and some times bruises from working retail. I can't think of a time in 20 years though that I had a box hit me in the neck, normally you would take it to the face
I was trying to get a box down off a shelf above my head when it overbalanced and fell on me. It hit me right in the throat somehow. Bruised my larynx.
Lifting a box and the corner gets you. It's definitely happened to me when I was stocking a store. But I didn't read the context so definitely could be sus.
I've gotten a bruise on my collarbone (area, not the actual bone lol) very much like this one from the corner of a box falling on me and trying to "catch" it with my shoulder.
I also don't know the context, but the only context that we do have is one individual 's claim that they were sus in the original post, without any examples, a link, or anything else. which is pretty sus itself tbh (of the individual here making the claim). I'm fully open to being proven wrong
Lifting heavy boxes above shoulder height without realizing the grip you have is not as stable as thought or working in an unloading dock trailer and the taller person you were staffed with drops the box on you.
Dense smaller boxes have done damage like that to me
You never pulled a heavy box from a top shelf and used your neck/shoulder to awkwardly hold it while twisting on a ladder and climbing down trying not to fall?
No.... Because it sucks and leaves bruises 😂 it was a box of ceramic coffee cups btw for me.
I once had a boyfriend who gave me a hickey on my chin. Like straight up on the tip of my chin. I lied and said it was a bruise when I was asked about it.
I dropped a box straight onto my face like a dumbarse before. I could see if I turned my head away quicker, how the corner would do this to my collarbone.
If the mark is a hickey, he'd have to have been laying down and the other person be perpendicular to him, which isnt unimaginable. A vertical looking mark like this would be kind of hard to do if they were both standing up the whole time.
I've done this, but it was a lit cigarette when I was out drinking with the boys. Gf initially thought it was a hickey til I pointed out the size and almost perfect circular mark, like she thought I was cheating with a massive mosquito or something.
I honestly give the story 50/50. It’s entirely possible and plausible to get exactly that sort of injury in a stockroom, especially this time of year. But it’s hardly an every day kinda thing. Without knowing OOP personally, I can’t say whether him cheating is more or less likely.
Literally just… sometimes random shit happens. Who’s ever had a situation ending up with just the one hicky? I have always avoided visible marks from sex cause of my job. Surely someone actually cheating would be trying to not have any signs they cheated?
I took in a stray kitten that gave me ringworm (a fungal infection). I had a mark on my neck. The thing about rashes is you're not supposed to cover them. I had a customer where I worked ask me if I "had fun last night". -_-
Reddit is probably more bothered about this than the actual gf lol. It's clearly not a hickey but I guess if ya have literally no experience you would think this is one.
Lol I've had spots like this on my neck and had no idea how it got there, so it makes me extra suspicious when they ask and my answer is "I don't know"
One of my exes tried to kill me and failed, leaving deep red and purple bruising around my neck. A coworker made a snide comment about “last night must have been fun” and I had the pleasure of informing her otherwise.
I had a super similar experience at my job! Manager said they could write me up for having hickeys (I did my best to hide the marks, but alas) but they'd let me off with a warning since I'd clearly had a good time...You could see the individual finger marks from where he'd choked me unconscious.
I’m sorry you had to go through this too! It is so incredibly not fun to deal with. I am happily married to the best partner I’ve ever had, so sometimes I think I’m grateful for all the shit I went through to get here. I hope you’re doing better too 💕
I had one that straight up looked like a hickey without the little marks showing it was. My ex just looked at me and cracked a pretty dark joke that might get me banned from the sub. Even I went, Jesus, sam.
Reaching upwards, putting a box on, or taking one off a shelf, a box falls, your hands are above it so you can't shield yourself, all you can do is turn your face away reflexively which exposes your neck. It's so plausible its prosaic.
So you’re telling me, there’s a chance that when I was in high school, and came home with a hickey; that my father might actually have believed me when I said I walked into a locker?
If something hits you hard enough to bruise you... which blood vessels damaged so bad that blood is leaking into the layers of your skin.... there's gonna be an abrasion where it happened. You know a little bit of a scratch.... theres not because this is a hickey lol.
That don’t even look like an impact bruise lol,“dropped a box on myself” yeah right maybe a box holding the world’s smallest violin to accompany your river of crocodile tears. 😭
When I scratch myself through clothes, it leaves bruises that look like hickeys. They’re all over my legs in mosquito season.
I get this sometimes too because I have dermographia so I bruise easily and scratching looks like red welts. I take allergy meds but they don't really stop the reaction. I can draw on myself and play knots and crosses 😂

Literally everyone posting on untrustworthy poptarts thinks that if it CAN be fake, it MUST be fake
literally the first time the sub popped up for me it was a ‘oh yeah that seems like bullshit oh well’ then by the third time it’s ’oh you people don’t have anything going on…’
Because people don't have strange experiences ever
I mean to be fair that's the point of the sub, it's literally just things that could be fake
That's quite literally everything on reddit? It's a bullshit sub. I was in it for a while, left after it made me groan too much. The 'could be fake' part is only used for an OP to deflect.
i dont know man, the way he acted in the comments was pretty suspicious too lol. awfully hickey shaped and an awkward location for a box
I've had shit fall on me at work while getting boxes off of high shelves because I'm a clumsy fucker. I've gotten bruises like that on my face, boob, shoulder, whatever. This honestly doesn't seem that outlandish
What a horrendous username lol I love it
Now i wish i hadn't looked 😭
I am clumsy and work in the trades. Sometimes I look like someone used me as a human piñata. Ive absolutely had bruises like these on my neck from hammering it into something
Same here, but the sign for me is that the skin isn’t scuffed or scraped. Unless it perfectly nailed them and bounced away somehow, I don’t believe it
It's a hickey. A box doesn't pull on the skin to cause a bruise, the way that bruise fades either side has pulled on the skin, not impacted it... Sorry but I would not believe him for a second.
I've literally had bruises that look exactly like this that we're absolutely not from hickeys. Some people just bruise easily.
Coulda been reaching above him
I have lots of weird cuts and some times bruises from working retail. I can't think of a time in 20 years though that I had a box hit me in the neck, normally you would take it to the face
I was trying to get a box down off a shelf above my head when it overbalanced and fell on me. It hit me right in the throat somehow. Bruised my larynx.
How so?
How so is a good question. Like, how so did the box land on his neck in a way to make that sort of mark.
Lifting a box and the corner gets you. It's definitely happened to me when I was stocking a store. But I didn't read the context so definitely could be sus.
Yup I was thinking this too, you’re trying to lift it down from a high shelf onto your shoulder, corner catches your neck on the way down
That is precisely the context he provided. He works in a "chaotic and unsafe" warehouse, dropped a box, got hit by the corner
Yup. Usually it's the box that's stacked on top of the box you're picking up that shifts and gets you.
The small dense motherfucker you can't see til you tilt the bigger boxes towards you and you get donked by the product

Fair enough!
Box over shoulder, corner hits neck
Dull ache, bruising likely
You never pulled a heavy box from a top shelf and used your neck/shoulder to awkwardly hold it while twisting on a ladder and climbing down trying not to fall?
No.... Because it sucks and leaves bruises 😂 it was a box of ceramic coffee cups btw for me.
I've never done this.
Fair enough!
Sometimes you can use your neck to stop the boxes from falling into your face
That's not what the "how so" was for..
I have literally only had hickeys from my own dumbass chewing on my arms in a bored ADHD haze 😭
There are no little red dots from the sucking. No teeth marks. No ring from suction.
I don't think it's a hickey.
Its also to small and straight to be a hickey
Also who the fuck sucks on that part of the neck?
dracula i think
Seeing as he still has a neck—I think we can write him off as a suspect.
While I agree that it's not a hickey, who wouldn't?
I once had a boyfriend who gave me a hickey on my chin. Like straight up on the tip of my chin. I lied and said it was a bruise when I was asked about it.
Uh, as somebody who has given and received hickeys plenty of times in my life they can look like that sometimes lol.
Sometimes you do them small so they're not obvious to others
The immediate downvote lmao.
In case you or anyone else is curious the little red dots are a type of bruising known as petichiae.
I dropped a box straight onto my face like a dumbarse before. I could see if I turned my head away quicker, how the corner would do this to my collarbone.
its more vertical than horizontal
The person can be in any angle to be fair, but yeah it still doesn’t look like an hickey
If the mark is a hickey, he'd have to have been laying down and the other person be perpendicular to him, which isnt unimaginable. A vertical looking mark like this would be kind of hard to do if they were both standing up the whole time.
I’ve gotten 10 of those bruises on the same night in a mosh pit
Sounds like one sexy sexy mosh pit…
Like hungry hungry hippos.. just bouncing around within a ring of open mouths ready to SUCC!
Succpit
I didn’t specify howi got the bruises. I did in fact have 10 metalheads succing my skin at the same time…
I've done this, but it was a lit cigarette when I was out drinking with the boys. Gf initially thought it was a hickey til I pointed out the size and almost perfect circular mark, like she thought I was cheating with a massive mosquito or something.
I was on the original post, people are fucking mean. OP is giving me no red flags guys.
I honestly give the story 50/50. It’s entirely possible and plausible to get exactly that sort of injury in a stockroom, especially this time of year. But it’s hardly an every day kinda thing. Without knowing OOP personally, I can’t say whether him cheating is more or less likely.
Necks just bruise weird. One time i was fidgeting with my stretchy neck skin too much and had a big hickey like mark on my skin.
Ever heard someone come with an explanation that is so fucking stupid that it has to be true?
Reddit is probably more bothered about this than the actual gf lol. It's clearly not a hickey but I guess if ya have literally no experience you would think this is one.
I mean to be fair that's the point of the sub, it's literally just things that could be fake
Must be a very weird kissing angle.
Shit i didn’t even clock that. Not even the neck, but between the collarbones
I had a similar bruise on my hand after work. No clue what caused it, but I recall telling someone about how it looked like a hickey
Not seeing the tiny petechia I'd typically associate with a hickey. Probably did happen, even.
Lol I've had spots like this on my neck and had no idea how it got there, so it makes me extra suspicious when they ask and my answer is "I don't know"
My girlfriend has hickey-like bruises all the time in random places. But she's also clumsy as fuck and works retail so she also drops a lot of shit.
I have absolutely no reason to believe she's cheating on me. I've watched her cause her own bruises quite often.
Hope you're in a healthier situation now ❤️
I’m sorry you had to go through this too! It is so incredibly not fun to deal with. I am happily married to the best partner I’ve ever had, so sometimes I think I’m grateful for all the shit I went through to get here. I hope you’re doing better too 💕
I literally got the original post right after this one lol.
I had one that straight up looked like a hickey without the little marks showing it was. My ex just looked at me and cracked a pretty dark joke that might get me banned from the sub. Even I went, Jesus, sam.
I toss freight on.and off containers all day 5 days a week... I've never been "hit on the neck" just an awkward unlikely location
I’ve gotten bruises in pretty weird places. The neck is is plausible
Omg sybatfu that is very obviously not a hickey
People always want to try so hard to explain why someone they don’t know is a bad partner
Thats a box corner bruise, no doubt
How do you drop a box on your neck?
Reaching upwards, putting a box on, or taking one off a shelf, a box falls, your hands are above it so you can't shield yourself, all you can do is turn your face away reflexively which exposes your neck. It's so plausible its prosaic.

r/untrustworthypoptarts
That's the sub I got it from
Oh my bad. Didn’t see that lol
Tell her you were working on tour car and got too close to the muffler.
If something hits you hard enough to bruise you... which blood vessels damaged so bad that blood is leaking into the layers of your skin.... there's gonna be an abrasion where it happened. You know a little bit of a scratch.... theres not because this is a hickey lol.
OP is a wet wipe
This cottage cheese is off
i'm super accident prone and i've never had bruises unintentionally on my neck
Also accident prone, I have
Nah that actually is a hickey, ol mate is full of shit.
How the fuck does the box hit you there, hard enough to bruise... But didn't hit you in the face too...?
Bullshit
Corner
That don’t even look like an impact bruise lol,“dropped a box on myself” yeah right maybe a box holding the world’s smallest violin to accompany your river of crocodile tears. 😭
