I started with the butter knives but I got yelled at for bending the tips of a few of them. That's when I made the switch to spoons. But because my parents had cheap, thin silverware, I just ended up bending the necks of a bunch of spoons too lol. At least those could be bent back into shape.
Anyone else take spoonfuls of the Nesquick, dip it in their milk, and then eat it? I would eat so many spoonfuls. Definitely not good for you but tastes great!
I used to do this with powdered hot chocolate packets. Sometimes dipped in milk, and sometimes I would just eat the powder straight through a small straw.
I just bought some today and realized that my local store has two versions, the American one that comes in a syrup or powder and a Latin American version that still comes in a metal tin.
I used to drink the chocolate mix in my milk as a kid, even ate spoonful's straight from the metal can. Then a few years ago at 40, I was walking through the store and decided to get some to add to my coffee. I've been using it ever since
I know it's not as good as the powder, but every once in a while when I'm feeling fancy, I'll grab the syrup and drink a couple glasses of milk with it and then forget about it for 6 more months.
Nope, nope, nope. When I see threads about "what food can't you eat because it made you sick" I never thought I had an answer and then this monstrosity appears on my feed and all of a sudden unexpected childhood trauma! lol
It's been discontinued since 2006 but I only learned about it like a year ago. I was a the grocery store, and stopped my cart in front of the Nesquik shelf but couldn't find the strawberry powder D:
I loved hitting the lid back on. Bang bang thud
Always the little poof of powder left on the counter for someone else to clean up
That sound was basically part of the recipe. If it didn’t go bang bang thud, it wasn’t real Nesquik.
The metal can always hit better
The big military grade metal canisters we had in the 80s were great at destroying butter knives.
I always used a spoon to open them. Needed it to scoop the stuff anyway.

Damn, took me back. I remember some of our spoons had funny lips and realizing why.
Right? Those things were basically indestructible. You could drop one off the roof and it’d still open smoother than the new plastic tubs.
Still metal cans here in Australia :D
You rich sonovabitch
We used to have card back in the day but we have metal cans in UK now
That’s not a thing anymore?
It is! They just come in plastic now.
Depends where you are. They're still metal here in Australia :)
Not in Spain, at least. They use that exact same container from the photo.
Just like the women I'm dating through Tin-der.
I’m “Quik (not Nesquik) in rectangular tin” old.
I too am old enough to have known it as Nestlé Quik
I mean it was called Quik here in Canada until around the turn of the century. That's not that old.
haha, i was gonna say... i'm nostalgic for Quick and prying off that round metal stopper with my fingernails.
Saaaaame. I still can't get used to calling it "Nesquick"...and have weirdly fond memories of prying off the little metal lid with the spoon.

I would sometimes just stuff my face with the powder directly from a spoon. No milk. Core memory unlocked.
Also I was a fat kid, obviously.
I grew up on the Nesquik powdered chocolate milk. So much better than that Hershey’s syrup chocolate milk.
Me too, but as an adult you realized it's mostly sugar, that your are drinking. Ignorance was bliss, as a child!
Banana nesquik
Love it. Tastes like runtz
Strawberry Nesquik > Chocolate Nesquik
Banana Nesquick > Strawberry Nesquick > Chocolate Nesquick.
I always felt the chocolate was too overpowering.
Banana exists?
Banana with a hint of chocolate was a drug for me in the early 80s!
I have both strawberry and chocolate in my pantry.
....you err; you ever...you know... mixed em together?
Back in the late 70s. Didn’t taste good.
Nostalgia is calling it by its real name, “Nestle Quik”
you kids get off my lawn
It was always Nesquik in Europe.
Yes! Strawberry quick in tin for the win!
"You make me sick like Strawberry Quik! Your style is wack, you ain't the mack!" - Everlast (House of Pain)
I was hoping I wasn't the only one
Yummmmmmers. That was so tasty!
Hell yeah. Always had banana and strawberry on deck. Chocolate for the cousins.
A large glass of whole milk with a heaping spoonful of this stuff every meal, I wonder why I was a chubby kid?
I used to mix the strawberry, the chocolate, and the banana. Tasted like a banana split.
Banana and strawberry were the BEST!
As a type one diabetic kid in the 80s, sugar-free chocolate quick powder made all my cereal, sweet
I love it. Doesn’t taste like strawberries. I really don’t know what it tastes like.
And I don’t care.
(In old man voice) Back in MY day it was Nestlé Quik, not this newfangled Nesquik!
I just bought some today and realized that my local store has two versions, the American one that comes in a syrup or powder and a Latin American version that still comes in a metal tin.
Awesome, I have some in the cupboard, thanks for the reminder, pretty damned tasty!
I can taste this through the picture. I would eat this as a powder straight out of the can. It was so delicious!

Strawberry Quick.......take two teaspoons of sugar and put it in milk. It tastes exactly like Strawberry Quick.
This stuff never fully dissolved and I would cry to my mom to buy the syrup instead
The ones I had came in the square tins.
I had a glass of the banana flavour just the other day.
Would always have a cup of strawberry milk for breakfast everyday
Banana flavor too! We’d used to mix em together, sooo good
This looks delicious.
I know it's not as good as the powder, but every once in a while when I'm feeling fancy, I'll grab the syrup and drink a couple glasses of milk with it and then forget about it for 6 more months.
I have this in my cupboard. You can still buy it.
Ugh, the strawberry flavour was AWFUL. And yet, because it had sugar, I drank it.
Still around
We had PDQ growing up
...Y sabe a fresa
Still drinking it
You make me sick like Strawberry Quik Your style is wack, you ain't the mack

I used to drink this all the time!
Whenever I get on a chocolate milk kick, maybe 3 times a year, I still use Nesquik powder. Some whole milk. It's almost a meal by itself.
Man, I miss the metal cans. Still hits the same tho.
Oh yes the good stuff.
Yes strawberry was the best!
