From the “Northern Ireland says no to animal cruelty“ facebook page. I have purposely not included the video.

“On Tuesday 30th December 2025 Newry hunt entered a private residential property. Their hounds were out of control and as a result a pet cat was brutally tore apart by multiple hounds.

Instead of coming to the owner and explaining what had happened, a member of the hunt attempted to dispose of the cat’s body by throwing him over the wall.

Shortly after, another member of the hunt come back to get a hound out of the fence, walked down to where the cat was thrown and then threw him further away into the shuck in an attempt to disregard the incident.

Our thoughts are with the owners of this cat.

Time to consign this bloodsport to history. Foreign, colonial, wicked practice.”

  • And you know that hunt was only fined because it was a person that was bit. No regard for the life of the cat that got torn to pieces and then had its body dumped by a huntsman to try and hide it.

The hunt also probably tried to wriggle out of it hence your man having to give fucking bacterial evidence from his bite wound to prove it was from a foxhound. These people are cunts of the highest order.

I don't understand why NI still allows such savage sports.

Cos the posh wankers who go on hunts are pals with the wankers who run this place

Rich fucks tend to be incapable of showing an ounce of empathy for creatures and other human beings.

    Thats how you get rich

That’s usually why they’re ended up rich in the first place. I don’t think there is an ethical way to become wealthy these days without sinking almost everyone else in your path

RoI just refused to ban it as well, so it's not a Northern issue by any means.

Laws in UK for pets are disgusting.

Iveagh C*nt Club sounds more appropriate

  • I hate to paint everyone with the same brush but in the case of people using dogs to hunt, they can all get to fuck. It’s hunting for game rather than pest control and it’s the least humane method I think.

We own a bit of land and we have been tortured over the years with dog hunters trespassing on our land. They’re always from a completely different part of the country so they stick out as everyone in our area is friendly. I’ve challenged them at different times and they try to lie saying they got permission from “the man up the road” but can’t provide a name and to make it funnier it’s our fields. Plus they’ve got dogs running loose on the hunt with farmers pregnant sheep in the surrounding fields. If the sheep aren’t killed, the scare of the dogs can cause them to lose their lambs.

Awful to hear that someone’s poor pet was killed, the fact they tried to cover it up doesn’t surprise me. They know they’re in the wrong and don’t give a fuck, scum.

Get a shotgun. Carry it with you to your trespasser chats. Don't even load it, just have it as a prop and let their imagination make the threat.

    Doesn’t matter to the cunts

    Sure it will.

Just ask a few pointed questions.

Ask if the dogs are expensive. Does it cost much to train them? Are they shotgun resistant?

    Are their horses expensive?

    They'll get the hint.

Neighbour of ours told the hunt to stay off his land. Found them trampling his grass. Got up on a wall with a shotgun and dared them to stay. They never came back.

Pretty sure you could start down the harassment route with this. Use any legal mechanism to make them think.

  • My dad had a run in with them a few years ago at the house. He took the gun out to the dogs in the garden and was threatened from across the fence which I thought was particularly ballsy to shout abuse at a man with a shotgun whilst your dogs are tearing through his land.

My dad's had run-ins with them before as well, they just waltz into his garden with their dogs and then get aggressive when he tells them to leave. Bastards.

Utter cunts, I don’t know anyone in the country who likes them apart from the other cunts who actively participate.

See this is where I'd drag one in and close my door... Your dogs come near my pets or my garden then I'm turning savage too.

They generally don't give a shit for the wellbeing of their dogs either. More times we've seen roaming foxhounds that have been left behind because they have bad cuts from barbed wire, or broken legs.

They’re not trained, don’t have names, never see a vet and if they get sick, old or injured they’re dispatched with a gun or worse. It’s utterly barbaric and anyone involved is an utter, utter c&&t. Including the kids on their ponies.

  • That is evil to it's core.

Who are these wicked people ... What's the details so we can mass report and refuse service to these sociopaths.

Those animals should be put down as well as they are out of control due to sociopathic evil people who find entertainment and fun in wasting their time destroying and killing and stalking and trespassing and causing fear and horror.

The worst bit is that a cat had to suffer like that and now its owners too. Forever.

I can’t even imagine how I’d feel if this had happened to one of my cats.

It would traumatise me, I would think about it all the time, think about why I wasn’t there for my cat, why I couldn’t save it and what it was feeling when it died.

    It is pure evil.

Our neighbours cars are complete pains but you wouldn’t see them harmed let alone go into their land to allow harm.

What's worse is they often break the cats legs before siccing the dogs on them

    wtf really? 😭😣

  • Disgusting. It’s a massive red flag in my eyes when someone would disregard a defenceless animal like this.

  • I need names of these people as a newry resident!!!! Absolutely disgusting behaviour I’m apalled this shit is even legal.

  • Fucking disgusting behaviour

  • “The unspeakable in pursuit of the uneatable” - Oscar Wilde.

Fox hunting is a cruel, horrible practice and fox hunters are subhuman scum.

  • I also dont understand why SF would vote against a ban, I would have thought this “sport” was a left over of a British colonial past time carried out by British landowners

in 2021, Sinn Féin’s entire Assembly group voted against the ban, while the DUP permitted individual MLAs to choose, leading to a minority of DUP MLAs supporting the ban.

Alliance, UUP, SDLP, Green, PBP all voted in favour of the ban.

I also dont understand why SF would vote against a ban

    Heavy brown packets

Mary Lou doesnt know what way is up and wont stand firm on anything lately. They had such a good chance that it almost seems like they are self sabotaging specifically to stay out of government

They're scared of upsetting the rural vote is my bet.

I’d love to know if it would actually upset the rural vote because I’ll be fucked if I know any country people who support the hunts. I know it’s only anecdotal, but all I know around me are farmers who have told them to fuck away off

As a rural farm raised human, can say anybody I talk to, even the ones who HATE foxes, have never expressed any acceptance towards fox hunting. They may despise them, but even they agree it is vicious and uneeded.

Agreed! To be fair anyone I know with a fox issue would shoot them because you’ll accomplish far more with a rifle than you will with hounds and horses. The hunts a leisure activity for pricks, not a valid pest control method.

Yep - that seems to be the consensus. If you have a pest problem you don't call it a sport, you deal with it on an individual level without extreme aggression and more so pleasure. Boke. Anyone who gets a kick out of doing this shite can get fisted.

Who exactly in Sinn Féin is in favour of this? Where is the vote or base that wants it, seriously where?

All opinions polls, north and south show large majorities in favour of a ban yet some Sinn Féin politicians continue to squirm and sweat as they defend this indefensible and ridiculous position.

Plenty of their voters, especially younger voters, which is most of them, are scratching their heads at this position and an open vote would overturn it. The policy also leaves Sinn Féin exposed to attacks from the left and the centre - attacks on this will only become more embarrassing to defend and I have yet to see any even vaguely convincing explanation of the position.

Mary Lou is a Dub. Knows nothing of the countryside. And she seems to think the GB countryside alliance has a similar equivalent in Ireland. It doesn’t. The rural population are against it to almost the exact same level as urban areas. Fox hunters (at least down here the southern side of the border) tend to be new money solicitors, business owners, spoofers. All Porsche Cayennes and Range Rovers and fancy horse boxes. All mounted on 20k Irish Sport Horses and as graceful as a bag of shite on horseback. Almost no farmers are involved. Most farmers for even shoot foxes because they’re mostly no harm. That’s the preserve of lads who wished they’d joined the army thinking they’re Jude Law in “Enemy at the Gates”.

At the time their reasoning was that the bill was poorly written and would inadvertently cause a lot of issues. Due to this there would be no time to properly amend it before the recess.

They were 100% correct in that regard.

Since then their actions down south and refusal to ban fox hunting and hare coursing specifically has been extremely disappointing. However, my understanding is that they are bound by the decision voted on at the ard fheis which was to support regulation rather than an outright ban.

  • With the video evidence, let's hope this results in massive litigation action, charges of cruelty to animals and eventually a ban on this dressed up wicked medieval pastime.

These people pay a fortune to the two parties in charge to keep this barbaric practice going. It's why neither SF or DUP are in favour of banning these cunts hunts.

Nothing will happen to these people.

People need to join their local saboteur groups. I am going to be looking into it for sure. Something needs to be done.

  • How do I unread this? I’m sick to my stomach…😭

In the past, we have had our share of hunt dogs suddenly appearing in our garden that’d escaped and just wandered up the road. Thankfully not happened in a very long time. We ended up getting a few outdoor cameras just in case it started to become a problem, or god forbid, they did go for one of our cats. Literally, there was a time I remember looking out and seeing one of the hounds standing in our front porch as it was left open slightly. Gave me a heart attack. We have always had cats, and something like this happening, for a while was, and tbh still is after reading this, one of my biggest fears. I’ve also always had a problem with how they treat the hounds, like how they whip them. It’s inhumane and makes me sad to think about. Generally speaking, in all honesty, i’ve sorta said to myself, if it’s not continuing to be a regular occurrence, and they’re leaving me be, i’ll leave them be, but i’m now definitely leaning more on the side of action needs to be taken now, and this blood “sport” banned, especially after seeing more and more examples of articles like this.

Cannot understand how Northern Ireland and the Republic of Ireland hasn’t already followed suit anyway and banned it like England, Scotland and Wales has. Time for our politicians to seriously act, and get a grip for the sake of the animals and their welfare, ffs.

  • If you see a "pest" and decide the best course of action is to get a squad of bloodthirsty dogs, dress up like a fucking wanker and chase it on horseback with your scumbag friends till its heart explodes from exhaustion, then let your dogs rip it to pieces, then you are not someone who is safe to be around. That is psychopath territory.

I wonder how long they could run if a group of giants was chasing them with a pack of tigers or something? It'd be damn fun to find out. Fucking filth.

RIP little cat. May you be reincarnated as a toff-seeking missile.

  • Scum . In another life i hope they are bait

  • Fucking scum. Does anyone know who they are and can identify them? I know I'd be going to jail if they did this to my cat.

Those responsible have a facebook page called Newry Hunt Club.

  • “Imagine if a gang of thugs set a pack of dogs on a terrified animal for a laugh. Now imagine they're posh people on horseback.” Ricky Gervais

  • Actually fucking horrific. Actually so sickening that this happens.

Disgusting people who should rot in prison.

  • Only FB post I could find, but it was more about the trespassing, the video didn't mention the cat (possibly taken down)

    https://www.facebook.com/reel/1960998591149484/

But WTF are they doing going onto private property to chase foxes.

Edit: the video in question was identified thanks to u/butterbaps; http://facebook.com/reel/1815225798970622/

It's this post. You can see the cat on the video and the guy trying to dump the body also. That group is known for having no control of their hounds and if one of them gets injured or lost they just leave it behind.

Youve never dealt with a hunt? Its beyond a sense of entitlement its an actual belief they can do what they like they're the most horrible set of cunts

I've not dealt with them or interacted with them before. It's fucking outrageous it's allowed. There are comments from FB saying the police won't come out to stop them from trespassing, which is another miserable state of affairs

The police rarely attend these things when it occurs because it always becomes a "he said, she said" event where all their cunt mates say that nothing ever happened, or they've fucked off by the time they get there.

A farmer on my road was threatened at the end of a shotgun by one of them when their hounds tore through his cattle shed and stressed out the cows so much that several of them miscarried. He didn't have CCTV and he's an aul boy so didn't think to record it, but he went out to see what was going on and got into an altercation with the crowd and one of them pointed their side-by-side at him. When the police turned up all of them denied it and nothing ever came of it. One of his mothering cows had to be put down because in the trauma of it all she broke both her front legs as she tried to get out of her pen.

    Edit: couple of typos

get the SPCA, RSPCA involved. the poor dogs. the humans involved here are clearly abusing their hounds

  • Evil bastards! I hope they get prosecuted.

    That poor wee cat.

  • Brutal, the poor cat, and it could have been a child, these hunts should not be allowed, there is no valid reason for them

  • Fox hunting is for utter scumbags. Should be banned.

  • where is the judge who will order every one of those hounds euthanised?

and the hunters need to be fined and pay costs. maybe even punitive damages to the cat's owners.

only way to stop this cruel insanity is to hit the practitioners financially

  • Anyone caught 'blooding' a dog should face a prison sentence.

  • Are the owners going to prosecute??

  • Wtaf, sick bastards.

  • Fucking scum. Why is this shit still happening. Rich people shit

  • Absolute vile cunts, hope they end up facing the same outcome as the cat, and all the foxes they kill!

  • Makes me so mad.

  • [deleted]

Should put every single one of those dogs down. And ban the owners from owning animals.

It's not the dog's fault they were bought by cunts. The hunters should all be strung up by their nuts and let the starving dogs feast.

  • Literal nonces. I hope they get a visit from the lads some night.

  • I hate them more cus they're tory bastards....would gladly punch the fucking head of each and every one. I'm definitely finding one near me next year fighting the biggest mouth there. Where's the nearest to derry/donegal

Could we not have a few sheep about with a sign about dogs bothering sheep will be shot and then shoot their dogs

3 years of it and they'd give up.

  • Scummy bastards.

  • Wish nothing but the worst on these cruel basterds

  • I remember multiple hounds coming around our house when we were wee (very rural, surrounded by farmers fields, up a lane). Mum would panic, usher us in, lock our dog in and then go out to get the cat in as well. I never knew why she panicked so much as a child, but seeing the news stories as an adult, it made sense.

How they are allowed to a) trespass as they wish and b) kill pets, is beyond me. Even if you don't care for the life of the cat, how important it was to the family etc - it is technically someone else's property and the hunters are seemingly allowed to destory with no consequence.

  • Stop thrashing the dogs. Those poor hounds are abused nonstop. Often starved to ensure they'll go after foxes, cats etc.

Hunts need to be prosecuted and closed down. Dogs should be rehabilitated and rehomed.

It's the humans that are the monsters.

Like as in everything in this cruel world, its generally some human that had the most barbaric initial ideas to start things off, for the worst to come off it. Disgusting in their pursuit of 'sporting fun'. How much more 'sporting' and 'fair' if things turned in reverse? I hope just desserts for this

  • While it isnt the dogs fault, farmers should shoot them when near livestock or pets with the easy justificatiom that they thought it was a rabid fox attacking their animals

You don’t even need to fudge a justification. A farmer can legally shoot a dog on their land no questions asked.

A good justification is better than none if Im honest

Fair enough, but just pointing out that legally the dog’s presence is enough. They’d suffer no legal consequences for putting the lot down on sight. Your actual worry would be reprisals from the hunt and I 100% wouldn’t put that past the cunts.

Oh id 100% expect reprisals, thats why them in their big red coats also look awfully like foxes

What if they accidentally missed the dog and shot the real ones responsible? I wonder what the law would be in that case 🤔

"Im sorry judge Im just not that great of a shot"

    Haha love it.

  • Yea permanently ban that shit, its just a weird as fuck activity anyway imo

  • Nasty, entitled dickh**ds.

  • If any of you are on X come over and give us a follow @BanHuntingNI We are desperately campaigning to get a ban. A new bill on fox hunting will be before Stormont this year. In the past 4 years Sinn Fein have voted against a Bill to ban foxhunting in December 2021 in NI and December 2025 in ROI. We will NOT get the Bill through if all Sinn Fein block it again. Every single member voted against the bill. We need more people on social media to help get the message across to Sinn Fein that animal cruelty will not be tolerated. Some members of the DUP also voted against the ban in NI 2021 but obviously not to the same extent. In a way it's expected that DUP would be backward morons and vote against the Bill, but Sinn Fein? Rumours are they are receiving money from party donors to keep fox hunting going. A lot of very rich fox hunters in NI like Chairman of Tayto NI who is a massive fox hunter.

  • Let’s hunt them

  • I knew people who used greyhounds to hunt in the mountains. They starved these dogs so they would ‘hunt better’ then post pictures of themselves holding up dead rabbits, foxes and badgers that they caught. Complete scum of the earth

  • Poor tuxedo cat…

  • Fuck that’s horrendous they’re not doing themselves any favours

  • Take your horses out for a ride without the hounds. Time for it to be ended completely. This is awful. That could have been a small child as dogs cannot be predicted and if a pet was attacked they could get involved.

  • Cunts, that’s what they are

  • How could anyone in their right mind support this depravity? It makes me so fucking angry!

  • Fucking vile behaviour. Savage dogs left unchecked by savage people. I know it’s not the dogs fault for being raised how they have been but no other pet would be allowed to be as out of control as hounds are without consequences. That poor cat :/

  • This is disgusting what can actually be done about this?

  • [ Removed by Reddit ]

  • I actually wouln't have a problem with hunting with dogs if they were being used to get rid of invasive species like the grey squirrel or the like.
