My wife and I (in the Midwest of America) just bought our first house, and that thing is built like a tank. It's an early 50s build. We can't even get thumbtacks in the walls to hang art or whatever. Had to literally just buy small nails and hammer them in haha. I don't mind it, it's great. But I was surprised by how sturdy the walls are. I legit broke a few thumbtacks trying to get them in.
It’s a very interesting backstory of why we use wood. Mostly because it was cheap, in abundance, and worked with weather conditions way back when. Times have changed obviously and tons of code and better materials are used today, but because the last 200 years we needed to build housing at a pace that wasn’t sustainable with other materials. I’m sure there’s a lot more to it but that’s my understanding.
Plot twist. Spider was in the cup of her hand, is now unharmed but angry and is staring up at Rachel from the paper towel. Rachel is about to lose her sh*t when she looks down.
Yeah, I'm a bit disillusioned toward American homes. Sometimes they even put attic room windows to attics without floors or finished walls, ie a fake upper room.
The cardboard is called Thermoply that's supposed to be "structural", and contractors actually hate it. It's investors, house flippers, and stockholders that demand it for the housing market.
It's about trading and selling, not homes that last
She really killed the fuck out of that spider.
Plot twist: they live in the walls!
Now they do
American houses are a joke lol
If I hit my walls like this I would be in the ICU for a month.

Clearly, Americans have super human strength

Using wood is one thing, this wall is more like cardboard.
If you think the comparably weak construction materials are funny, buddy, you should see the rest of what we’ve got going on
Drywall is pretty easy to break. It is also easy to apply an undramatic level of force when dispatching of a pest.
At least we have Air conditioning
Air con might be redundant if your house is full of holes
Even if the drywall is half an inch (1.27cm). You need power and a firm strong hand to punch it without hurting yourself.
Glad to see this up top
No seriously they are, and they’re only getting shittier and more expensive as the years go on. Eventually houses will be glorified cardboard boxes.
I mean, I too would build my house out of paper and cardboard if I knew it would probably get ripped apart in 3 months due to a tornado.
I would probably move to somewhere that wouldn’t happen
This is cinema

I could've sworn it fell...
One punch ma'am
I typically watch everything on mute. But the the thud of the hit, and the sound she made are spectacular! 🤣🤣
Time to put a ring on Rachel
Spider now on the floor
I think she killed it though
I swear walls in the US are just made out of compacted powdered sugar
Well, she got it!
I punched my wall when I was p***** off one time. Nearly caved in my knuckle. The wall was like "that all you got b****?"
I went through a glass window killing a bee. Had a cardboard window for a few years until I could afford a new one.
You're just punching your wall at this rate. The spider just happens to be there
She meant business!
Man, people really overestimate the strength of drywall.
“Confirm the kill” - my wife
Yes, drywall is not strong. its also very easy/cheap to repair so putting a hole in it isn’t a huge deal.
Good thing she didn't hit the stud in the wall
Did ya get him?
Did she kill it, or just knock it into the wall where it will grow in size and anger. Build an army and come back for her entire bloodline?
What is that wall made of? Cardboard?
In America, it's called gypsum board or drywall. It's basically chalk with paper glued on each side.
The cardboard you're thinking about is for outside walls. That stuff has a plastic film to keep water out
Oh, thanks for replying so fast.

Fucking American houses made of cardboard. LOL
One could argue that the house ade ready to be vacated.
Rachel. Maybe not the hero we deserve. But maybe, the hero we need.
If she did this in Europe her hand would be flattened into a nub
Is that wall made of icing?
Welcome to America
