Not sure if that is normal

It looks like they are trying to get to a seat, but I'm thinking I would just want to be closer to the exit once it gets really packed. Like how do I swim through a sea of bodies to get back out

You go with the flow. You belong to the train now.

    parent root

To put things in perspective, the volume of travellers going through Mumbai train station EVERY HOUR is equivalent to the entire population of New Zealand!

    parent
    10 points NightButcher

    Which is?

    parent root
    26 points jungleass98

5.3-5.4 million according to the googles

    parent root
    17 points NightButcher

    That’s crazy.

As a Brit and someone who would form an orderley queue to get on a bicycle, this is horrifying

    parent
    48 points wooden-guy

I love how you had to flaunt your very structured British lifestyle.

    parent root
    -5 points skarbles

Yeah it’s a shame none of that order rubbed off on India during colonization

    Are xenomorphs secretly pakistani?

    parent root

Chinese own the ip now, I hear. Xenomorph loves acid blood, and has a firm stance on the border dispute.

    1 points pranjallk1995

You take what you get here... Else miss out...

    parent root
    3 points MustangBarry

Just get to the front of the queue first.

    parent root
    5 points pranjallk1995

That would happen if you miss the train you were supposed to catch... also u could be pushed onto the tracks as well... Had to do this for 4 years...

    parent root
    -25 points PNWcog

When open doors you will force your populace into a scarcity mindset. What you see here are people who have grown up with this situation. The UK will also be like this eventually.

Oh i didnt realize r/nope is the nazi bar du jour

    parent root

Has nothing to do with race and everything to do with resources. But whatever makes you feel better.

Women desperate to get on the women carriage so they aren't SA by the men.

    parent
    63 points xotxottie

Can confirm SA happens. I am a western woman who had an overnight cabin with no locks on a mixed train in India back in early 2000s (with my boyfriend in said cabin). Woke up to a hand down my top in the middle the night. Too trusting I guess in the locals.

    parent root
    -32 points cherrycoke_yummy

    Huh?

    parent root
    -46 points _KALKI_09

No not really, they get in just like this on ANY carriage... In the general one, SA is definitely a risk, but the bigger risk would be getting hit by a elbow or 2....

    parent root
    53 points SueBeee

that is literally the reason they have women only carriages.

    parent root
    19 points Karona_

Would you rather take an elbow or a dick? 😂

    parent root
    3 points rofocales

I don't know if I can fit an elbow there.

Ah yes India, the absolute opposite of Japan.

    parent
    17 points Mogwai_11

Crazy it’s the same process of packing into trains but one is civilised and one is not at all.

    parent root
    4 points Thechad1029

Japan trains weren’t crazy at all in my experience. Maybe because everyone is so respectful it didn’t seem so bad.

Normal in major cities like Delhi, Mumbai, Kolkata, Chennai. For most of the country situation isn't this bad

    parent
    1 points hexenfern

Not that I can afford travel anyway being American and not born into wealth, but it’s a shame India is as flawed as it is. It has some of the most beautiful cultural practices, some great food, and the landscape is stunning. There are just so many hardline dealbreakers tho that if I were born there I would be unhappy with it. Mumbai has urban beauty but it’s dirty and I’d be scared of theft and such. The rural parts are beautiful naturally, but the poverty is out of hand and I’d be scared of SA.
