Okay so it would never happen of course for a million and a half reasons. But just imagine for a second. Rodgers signs with the bears, goes all out in the off-season, shows up in his best shape. Beats out Caleb in the preseason. Chicago hyped as fuck.
Season opener against the pack. Let's go.
First pass of the first game - pick 6. Bears staff thinking oh shit okay shake it off were good. Second pass of the game...another pick. Everyone starts side eyeing one another, but rodgers assures them no im good. Third pass....another pick. Okay Caleb warming up now for real what the fuck is happening. But rodgers is a HoFer, gotta let him work it out right? 4th snap of the game he's no longer even pretending. Bro takes the nap and runs backwards to the endzone. Hands it to the pursuing defender. Walks off the field giving the double bird to the crowd.
Game would literally break the internet. Rodgers found the one way that nobody would ever stop talking about him
He’s passed him in just about all of his major achievements. Still a long way to go on catching Favre’s record for stealing money from the poor though.
Eh idk depends when he retires. He’s averaging 1.69 TD/game this year, so he needs 8 more games on average. The Steelers really don’t have a better option for next year, so I’d think he will be back if he wants to be.
Maybe but if the Steelers make the playoffs and he’s offered to come back I don’t see it. Also, he said he’s undecided, though in other reports he says he’s “pretty sure” he will retire.
I could see him coming back if Pittsburgh continues being aggressive like they were last offseason acquiring guys but still don’t end up with a better option at QB. If this goes the other way and Tomlin leaves though, no chance he comes back.
Yep. I’m guessing the way he sees it is that he’s still better than Manning at the end, so could still get another bowl. Can’t do that if Steelers go to rebuild.
He's still better than enough QBs starting right now that someone might offer him enough of a tempting contract to come back for at least one more year
i didnt hear that on the broadcast, but my understanding this is likely his last year. He stated that before the season but during the season hes somewhat softened his stance to "who knows, im having fun"
Ah its possible hes given them more info. But Publicly
its been.
Rodgers says on McAfee immediately after signing he thinks this is his last year.
He said just before the season actually started that it might be his final year, might not.
Early season he said he doesnt know anymore and that hes gonna just go along for the ride and figure it out in February.
Hes made some comments that essentially amount to he didnt predict actually having as much fun with the game again as he has after the Jets seasons etc.
I dont think he will stay, but im actually not 100% sure its a given hes gone either. The Steelers presumably leaked a report in October that they would love to have Rodgers back in 2026 and are open to doing business with him. Wouldnt expect a report if he was 1000% locked into retirement.
I think he went to the steelers with the intention of ending his career with a "good" team (the Big Ben era is more recently in memory than any era the Jets were good) that could at least put up a record over 500.
and then y'all were winning. And looking good. and playing good. and now its up in the air.
Comedy option is going to be Tomlin is forced out and he signs to the vikings completing his "I'm better than Favre on all the same teams" victory lap
Maybe another year but i think this year showed his limitations, especially to stay healthy, and it'll be worse next year bc there'll be more film of the new Rodgers.
He’s so scared of any contact, you need a truly elite OLine to get everything out of him. If he doesn’t find himself in that scenario he should hang it up
Honestly, his stats could have been better but there were many seasons with games that they had rushing TDs at the red zone instead of allowing a passing TD. Brady never complained if he had a game with 1 - 2 passing TDs as opposed to 3. Too much of a team player.
That was also the year right after the record setting 16-0 regular season too. The man had like 5K yards and 50 TDs the year prior and still had Moss. I'd imagine it would've been closer to 40TDs if not more
The fact that he had basically 3 careers and it only happened once (like a full season ending injury I mean) is also a testament to how locked in he was on and off the field.
it was honestly probably lucky it happened so early in the season. he didn't have to worry about making it back for playoffs or the beginning of the season. having an entire year of recovery was probably part of the reason it never became a bigger problem farther down the line
Not Josh Allen, his average touchdown rush is about 7 yards, and James Cook lead the league in rushing touchdowns last year, and is top 5 in rushing touchdowns this year.
I don't think people realize just how much more often we opted to handoff to the RBs within the 5yd line as compared to other teams in the 2nd half of the Pats dynasty. Only two teams were even "close" and they still were about 40 TDs short.
Not really. The rushing threat is necessary for any QB to open up the pass game. Without it the defense would be able to play more coverage situationally and his stats would end up similar or worse
I have no doubt in my mind if he actually wanted to play right now, he'd still be a productive player. One of the best seasons of his career at 44 and still threw for nearly 4700 yards at 45. He still had some juice left in the tank if he was mad enough to go back out there
I'd be surprised if he hasn't lost a little velo on the ball from his playing days, but he's clearly still dedicated about his physique and keeping himself in shape. I think the only concern would be his 48 year old body still being capable of absorbing the hits. I don't doubt his ability make the throws that he needs to, but can his body handle taking a hit from someone like Garrett running at full speed?
I swear he had some sort of wicked devil he'd make blood sacrifices to every off-season in his basement to allow him to play at an insanely high level.
There's a series with Paul Ruud (I think it was canceled) that has a joke about it. Super funny. He went to a place that cloned bodies or something to make bodies better.
Played to 45, was in a pass heavy offense in Tampa. Wasnt injured through most of his late 30s/early 40s. Rodgers, while he had 2 MVPs in his late 30s, was not passing anywhere near the amount Brady did in Tampa during his time there.
George Blanda with 126 games played after 40 and 23 TDs to show for it is hilarious. I looked into it, his last nine years with the Raiders (age 40-48) only had one actual start by him. 235 passing attempts over those 9 years, which is fewer than he had in his age 39 season with Houston. And somehow he almost won the MVP at 43 despite not doing much at all.
Wow. This means after his retirement Beady had the same as the next 5 guys. And probably pretty close to the rest of the top 10 since rodgers and flacco weren’t on the list yet.
He was still plenty good. That's just Reddit showing it's brain power. They equated him not throwing 70 yard bombs as being bad. If it wasn't for Jared Cook he may have had another shot at a Super Bowl.
The freaks on this sub who keep insisting that no QB will ever be good when they're old again are just going to have to accept that this is a product of modern nutrition/training/medicine (+ rules around hitting) and that great QBs are just going to keep having better and better longevity.
I don’t think he has 140 more in the bag
Seems like his goal has been to be better than Favre in every statistical category possible.
Rodgers holds a grudge like a woman scorn.
He's gonna come back and throw 214 straight interceptions to take that too.
I like where you’re head is at
Oops I forgot to add...
....in a bears uniform.
Okay so it would never happen of course for a million and a half reasons. But just imagine for a second. Rodgers signs with the bears, goes all out in the off-season, shows up in his best shape. Beats out Caleb in the preseason. Chicago hyped as fuck.

Game would literally break the internet. Rodgers found the one way that nobody would ever stop talking about him
I mean, he is that much of a troll.
His picks are thrown to the Paul brothers and Pat McAfee just for good measure.
If anyone would, it’s Rodgers.
I shudder to think of what horrible events would have to occur for that to happen 🤢
Well for starters, much like the speculation about Brady suiting up for the Raiders, Rodgers will need to give up his ownership of the Bears to do so.
But Aaron doesn't have a stake in..ohhh I see what you did there
I hate it here
Bear down!
Realistically how many picks in a row before the league decides hes cooked
4 does it as long as they're all his fault
He’s gonna give up an even better sack record to Myles Garrett in two weeks.
He’s passed him in just about all of his major achievements. Still a long way to go on catching Favre’s record for stealing money from the poor though.
No shot to overtake him in passing yards. But I do think one of the reasons he played this year was to inch up the career totals lists
To be so high up while missing/sitting 4 full seasons and playing 2 half seasons, is astonishing.
Lol *scorned
Gonna laugh if Tomlin is forced out of the steelers so rodgers declines to go there and goes to....
take over for JJ McCarthy
I doubt he has 14 more
Eh idk depends when he retires. He’s averaging 1.69 TD/game this year, so he needs 8 more games on average. The Steelers really don’t have a better option for next year, so I’d think he will be back if he wants to be.
I think they said on the broadcast yesterday that Rodgers himself said he's done after this year.
Maybe but if the Steelers make the playoffs and he’s offered to come back I don’t see it. Also, he said he’s undecided, though in other reports he says he’s “pretty sure” he will retire.

i didnt hear that on the broadcast, but my understanding this is likely his last year. He stated that before the season but during the season hes somewhat softened his stance to "who knows, im having fun"
Aikman and Buck were talking about it, saying something like “this is his last year, he doesn’t want a farewell tour”
Ah its possible hes given them more info. But Publicly
its been.
Rodgers says on McAfee immediately after signing he thinks this is his last year.
He said just before the season actually started that it might be his final year, might not.

Steelers should just get Mac Jones at this point
It seems like none of y’all lived through the Favre years.
This was a yearly game.
Maybe another year but i think this year showed his limitations, especially to stay healthy, and it'll be worse next year bc there'll be more film of the new Rodgers.
He’s so scared of any contact, you need a truly elite OLine to get everything out of him. If he doesn’t find himself in that scenario he should hang it up
Pretty sure this includes playoffs.
He's Gahnta in his Superbowl run this post season.
Why wouldn’t you include playoffs? That just adds to the incredibleness of his career.
Because regular season stats and playoff stats are never combined.
Lol
Brees, Rodgers, Favre and Moon have 189 combined
Brady beats them by himself.
98 games vs 119 for the other four, so even more effective
He's the Tom Brady of 40yo quarterbacks!
If you like stats that are out of this world, look up Brady stats. His playoff stats, TDs, yards.
He left no stone unturned and no debate to be had.
Yeah I won’t ever be hearing GOAT debates on QBs again. They’re all competing for 2nd
some of his stats are wild, like some Gretzky shit but we all learned that they can(however unlikely) be possibly broken
It’s honestly refreshing to have an undisputed GOAT. Growing up felt like Pax Jordana until LeBron had to show up.
He literally has the record for the most records. 🐐
Can’t believe they gifted Rodgers an MVP that should have been Brady’s
a travesty
ridiculous lol.
Every time i see a Brady record i go "how in the fuck did that guy play ao well for so long. What the fuck" and it starts repeating in my head.
The Jerry rice of QBs. The accolades, longevity and production.
It is still mind blowing that you can break his career into 3 separate parts and each one is a hall of fame career.
Wait til he comes back to the raiders in 2027 for phase 4 with Brock, Ashton, and Jeremiah Smith
I could see him growing so frustrated with in the field play he Thanos' it and does it himself
You can’t though, you can only get 2 separate hof careers which is still impressive
The LeBron James of qbs
LeLongevity
That's a solid career's worth of TDs after he turned 40. Like, it's within a rounding error of Alex Smith's career total.
28 more than Troy aikmann
It would put him at 62nd all time.
Him and LeBron man. Just unreal longevity.
Honestly, his stats could have been better but there were many seasons with games that they had rushing TDs at the red zone instead of allowing a passing TD. Brady never complained if he had a game with 1 - 2 passing TDs as opposed to 3. Too much of a team player.
He was also out for an entire season with a torn ACL. If he played that would’ve been another 35+ touchdowns and 4000 yards to his career.
That was also the year right after the record setting 16-0 regular season too. The man had like 5K yards and 50 TDs the year prior and still had Moss. I'd imagine it would've been closer to 40TDs if not more
and quite possibly another 16-0 season lol
That's true of basically any QB. Over a career it's going to average out.
Not wrong, but the Pats historically did it significantly more than other teams. Only New Orleans and Carolina were even close and even then it was still a gap of about 40 TDs.
except jalen hurts and josh allen, normally they get the rushing tds instead of running back
Not Josh Allen, his average touchdown rush is about 7 yards, and James Cook lead the league in rushing touchdowns last year, and is top 5 in rushing touchdowns this year.
One of my favorite graphs: Link
I don't think people realize just how much more often we opted to handoff to the RBs within the 5yd line as compared to other teams in the 2nd half of the Pats dynasty. Only two teams were even "close" and they still were about 40 TDs short.

If Phil Rivers can literally get off his couch and throw a couple TDs after years lazing around in retirement, Brady could for sure put up some stats.
Did you watch the Veritassum videos with him? He was still throwing perfect passes with speed
Oh yeah definitely. That's probably what keepsmhim away. The brutality of it all.
His mental ability with the game might be the greatest ever and impossible to match

It's not like Rodgers played in a dogfight of a division either
One could make the argument that he’s part of why all your records for those 20 years were so bad
George Blanda had an 8 year career post 40 years old. Sheesh.
Mostly as a kicker though
Back when you had one foot in the grave at age 40. Believe me back then at 40 you looked old as hell.
Every time I see Brady’s stats, I go down the rabbit hole of looking at videos titled “How good was Tom Brady really?”
I know people say time flies, but in that case hell no. That dude played for so damn long it was ridiculous. Same with Lebron.
I feel so lucky growing up in the 2000’s/10’s and being able to watch Brady and LeBron compete. I’m feeling nostalgic
That flair combo tho
Phillip Rivers will pass them all soon
Imagine if rivers played four more years. He'd then finally catch up to the ageless beauty Blanda
Blanda wasn’t playing quarterback anywhere near that long
Lol Brady is insane.
Holy shit. He had more 40 Passing TD seasons in his 40s than in his 30s, and with the Patriots in general.
49 more for rivers and he joins this list
I believe
Brady was a manufactured cyborg built to play football. Fucking absurd. The man nearly averaged 2 TDs a game* in his 40s.
A game perchance?
Feck.
QBs over 40 need to have those pliability exercises and stretches if they want to play until 45.
does taking ayahuasca count as a pliability exercise?
I clicked just to remind myself of Brady’s numbers
Damn Doug Flutie played when he was 40? Lol
Can't forget the famous drop kick to end his career
Drew Brees with 51 in 23 games is also a pretty gnarly start for a guy in his 40s
How in the actual fuck is Brady destroying the whole cohort
Played to 45, was in a pass heavy offense in Tampa. Wasnt injured through most of his late 30s/early 40s. Rodgers, while he had 2 MVPs in his late 30s, was not passing anywhere near the amount Brady did in Tampa during his time there.
But Warren Moon made it look good. That man could launch a ball.
All I see is Drew Brees 51 tds in 23 games.
Tom Brady is insane.
Only needs 20.4 touchdowns per game assuming he makes the Super Bowl to pass Brady.
Brady so good
This guy Brady man lmfao
One of these is not like the others
Brady lol
Rivers coming for that record!
193 after 40. We really don't respect Brady enough. Absolutely ridiculous.
How the fuck did Brady play 98 games after 40? That’s a bonkers stat.
Jesus christ, Tom
Sonny Jurgensen mentioned!
Brady with that many after 40 is just insane
Brady was unreal.
Watch out. Philip Rivers is coming for that record now.
That rate for Brees is outrageous lol. Over 2 TDs a game…
Phillip Rivers bout to go on a tear
George Blanda with 126 games played after 40 and 23 TDs to show for it is hilarious. I looked into it, his last nine years with the Raiders (age 40-48) only had one actual start by him. 235 passing attempts over those 9 years, which is fewer than he had in his age 39 season with Houston. And somehow he almost won the MVP at 43 despite not doing much at all.
I mean, Phillip Rivers might have 100 more when Indy is going for the 3peat in two years.
Until Phillip Rivers szn that is
Jesus Christ, Tom…
Wow. This means after his retirement Beady had the same as the next 5 guys. And probably pretty close to the rest of the top 10 since rodgers and flacco weren’t on the list yet.
Philip Rivers is on that list with his Age column just saying 44.
In 50 years, we can say he was drafted into the army at 40. lol
Panthers legend, Vinny Testaverde
He played better his last five years than his first 5
Brady 193TDs…numbers 2-4 189 TDs. That’s nuts
I remember Brees wasn’t doing good, how did he throw for 50 td in 1.5 seasons?
He was still plenty good. That's just Reddit showing it's brain power. They equated him not throwing 70 yard bombs as being bad. If it wasn't for Jared Cook he may have had another shot at a Super Bowl.
How the fuck did Blanda play 126 games after 40?
