    This IS on track.

Increasing homelessness is a great sign there are a volume of people scared of losing what they have.

    Perfect for exploiting.

I think it's the doubling part that is the concern here.

Do you honestly expect to be taken seriously when the headline is homelessness doubles and you provide a stat that shows it has doubled while saying "b..b..b..but labour!"

Like.. for real? This is a genuine question.

There is a huge hidden homeless population who are couch surfing, sleeping in cars, etc who won't have presented to social agencies. This figure only counts "known homeless".

Whole families who rotate around extended family’s garages, the car etc

    The 3 stages of homelessness

    1) couch surfer

    2) homeless in a car

    3) crack pipe hobo

Usually people fixate on stage 3, especially the tough on crime crowd

940 is probably the number of those who exclusively sleep rough and don't bounce between various shelters and refuges and cycle between occasionally having shelter but also sleeping rough sometimes (basically those who have inadequate and insecure housing) would indeed be a lot higher.

Yeah because that's only 0.05 percent of Auckland

And if you have a city and say that only 0.05 percent of the population are homeless that's an incredible stat.

That'll be people sleeping on the street (that they know of). Not total homeless (people in temporary shelter or staying with family/friends).

No worries, they have a plan, just make it illegal to be homeless. Laser focused.

Yeah but at least they’re not on a wait list for housing! That’s progress, right?? Right??……

Okay but people were really upset about the people in temporary housing in the CBD.
Saw a lot of talk on here about the cbd being a lawless hellhole.
So we fixed that at least.
