I have definitely heard "Driving home for Christmas" in the US. That being said there are quite a few Christmas songs that are obviously much more popular in the US.
I think I have heard it play in the background in a store and in a Christmas song playlist on YouTube, but it definitely isn't in the top tier of Christmas songs that get tons of play in the US afaik.
I randomly found a Live Wallpaper for my computer that played Driving Home For Christmas. Kinda just had it on loop for hours during the holidays. Im genuinely surprised I'd never heard it until last year given how how many times I've heard the same stale ass Christmas songs.
would’ve been fitting if he had passed away following a car accident. But crazy to read he had basically been living without a pancreas since 2001 and had to take heavy medication for almost 25 years.
Here in the US, I don't know if his Christmas song took off (or was really widely known).
But most US citizens would remember him as the guy who did "Fool If You Think It's Over".

I had to pull the song up on YouTube.
