Being in those files is small fish compared to all the people who are dying due to the end of USAID, Medicaid and abortion rights. Thousands of people being deported to countries they have no ties to, put in horrible prisons and camps just for not having their papers in order. Those are the things that should get Americans up in arms and on the streets, but I guess that’s not enough for them to react. If the Epstein files will do that, good, finally we will see if Americans will stand up to freedom, but it should not be the reason.
And this is not me saying it wouldn’t be a problem if he’s in those files, but we already knew he’s a rapist. And it’s definitely not me saying that the women Epstein abused didn’t suffer and had their lives ruined, but that was still primarily Epstein’s crime.

Yes, as I’ve written in another comment about this, the Epstein thing should not be the straw. Trump ending democracy, putting people in camps and in prisons for missing paper work, ending abortion rights and health care access should matter a lot more than whether or not he’s in the Epstein files. What Epstein did was horrible, but we already have the courts verdict that Trump is a rapist. That didn’t prevent him get elected.
I think part of the reason so many people I know are harping about the files is because it's like the ONE thing the MAGA family and neighbors in their lives are breaking a bit on, so said people are punching it hard hoping it bursts shit open in MAGA.
Unfortunately, I just don't really see that happening. In my partner's own family I already hear the "well, I don't know anything about that" and "well, I don't have time to watch the news anymore." They'll keep voting for anyone with an R.
