The New Orleans Archdiocese will pay at least $230 million to hundreds of victims of clergy sexual abuse under a settlement approved Monday by a federal judge that follows years of negotiations.
They've already started shutting down Catholic churches and schools in the area to have money on hand. They also fired people from the Second Harvest Food bank in New Orleans, and the story is that the fired people resisted pressure to contribute as much as $16,000,000 towards settling these abuse lawsuits. Thats money from donors who contributed to help feed people not pay off lawsuits.
I once tried to do a statistical analysis of the country based on the number of pedophile priests in the Pennsylvania arch Dioocese. As best as I could figure it, there is probably somewhere around 4300 pedophile priests currently living in the RCC in the USA. That was just the RCC, and just in America. The RCC happens to be one of the biggest in the USA. But it's even worse in other denominations and other religions. My numbers might be a bit off. That's the nature of statistical analysis.
I stopped being a practicing Catholic because of the way all of these were handled. Tragic and horrific that it ever happened, but the way the church ducked and dodged and stalled sickened me.
The diocese has around half a million parishioners. They filed for bankruptcy in 2020.
And I bet the diocese fought tooth and nail not to pay anything. What a disgusting excuse for a religious organization!
Sometimes I really think that all the money they didn't pay in taxes goes straight to a collective "We Got Caught Raping Again" fund.

And the New Orleans Saints helped them do it!
Catholic tithes used to silence victims of child abuse.

Crazy how this criminal organization is a tax free enterprise.
Aren’t they all?

An example of why Americans of all faiths should reject anything that reeks of theocracy. Fucking evangelicals, listen up.
