He accidentally killed her in self-defense, then called his dad to get a lawyer, then threw her cell phone in trash on the way home, called emergency services.
Can't imagine how a jury didn't believe that story.
So apparently his initial version of things is that she just immediately came at him with a knife, looking completely "demented" and "possessed" and so he grabbed her wrist and they struggled for the blade until he just happened to see the blood on her face.
Except now, there's evidence that he was strangling her before she was stabbed twice in the face.
Correct, but I doubt this really puts it into perspective for anyone reading your comment just how violent and dedicated you have to be to kill someone like this.
As per this resource, it takes at least 33 pounds of force to completely close off the airway and 3 to 5 minutes of that sort of pressure for brain death to occur in the case of strangulation.
For someone to kill another person like this without the assistance of some sort of ligature, that's 3 to 5 minutes of strong physical exertion.
This guy had time to reconsider and chose murder.
I guarantee I'm on some sort of list after looking that factoid up.
I know someone who accidentally killed a guy in a fight with an improper choke hold. He didn’t even realize he’d killed him until the next day. It’s easier than you’d think.
It’s worth noting there are different kinds of strangulations. One is manual strangling (air chokes): applying so much for force to the trachea that airflow is blocked to the lungs and the victim suffocates. This requires tremendous force and an extended period of time.
A properly applied blood chokehold, on the other hand, compresses arteries/veins going to the brain, depriving it of oxygen. This can cause
unconsciousness within 10 seconds and death in less than a few minutes. It’s tragically easy to kill someone while playfighting or wrestling when chokes are involved, which is why people should never ever use them unless under the supervision and training of professionals.

Well he's wealthy so it had a shot at working. Jurys, for some reason, love rich assholes.
He called his dad to get a lawyer before he called for an ambulance. I hope they lock this bastard up and throw away the key
I'd keep the key and throw away the cell.

Oh, and he threw her phone away, too.
Hmmm, wonder why he left those parts out?
They're devastating to his case!
I'm sure he didn't bring up the gouges in his neck from her fighting back, either.
It’s ridiculous he claims he didn’t want to kill her with his forearm against her neck. It takes a while to strangle someone to death.

I occasionally google “I swear I’m just doing research for Reddit” after a fucked up search
It won’t do anything but it makes me feel a little better

It’s a white American dude in Europe. So there’s no comments along the lines of “import the third world” or “usual suspects”, or “deport”.
