Central Jersey (middlesex co) has been just sleeting / ice / freezing rain or whatever you call it by me so far, a good coating down now. The weather guy I trust is surprised by it and says heavier snow is still expected late tonight and could make things a huge mess for tomorrow. More of an ice event than he was expecting.
Dunellen here. Nothing but some ice early. National radar shows not much left heading this way and every time I reload wunderground it lowers the totals another inch (now at 1.3" total forcasted)
NJ here... Rain/sleet/freezing rain here sucks
. These weather people don't have a freaking clue to what it's supposed to do but they got to make a big damn story about everything.
They don't work out in this damn shit. And they always seem to be joking about the weather too. Can't trust anybody anymore it seems.
The weather people can never get it right it seems likeš (joking, but I meanā¦ā¦)
I wasnāt surprised when the storm 2 weeks ago that was supposed to be nothing dumped 7ā in our yard, and Iām similarly not surprised that this storm which was supposed to be 4-8ā or 6-10āof snow is just light ice pellets lol
Visiting family near Sparta, it looks/sounds like ice-sleet more than anything and sorta faint snow flakes. Not looking forward to how much is going to be an ice layer and what snow comes next atop it.
This live update is fantastic.... I'm currently stuck in SFO trying to fly home but you know, delays.... Slightly relieved to hear sleet, instead of "4 inches and going!"
Just came iver the bridge from Philly, back into blackwood, and it was snowing, raining, then sleeting inn that order. Checked outside and its still sleeting
Iām waiting to hear what our key metric has been for years: which hill on Rt 80 does it change from what to what. For the middle of Morris Co, thatās usually either the Parsippany - Denville hill (by Rt 202 / Cherry Hill Rd exit), or the climb into Rockaway (Rt 513)
Edit: looking at the overnight camera, looks like it started 11pm-midnight, and the āgravityā speed was a little high, which suggests more sleet than flake. By 3am, more clearly snow. Will find out once Iām brave enough to go out, but my take at the moment is some higher density stuff (fewer inches of accumulation per unit of water) early, but probably becoming a drier snow now.
Itās an icy mess out in central NJ. Just started the car to clear some of it off. Itās going to be one of those mornings trying to pry the car doors open.
Union County. Snow. Then sleet. Just drove around the block. The car is driving on top of the snow/ice, not cutting through it. Could be a bad night for accidents.
West Union County, half an inch of snow mixed with frozen rain, with a few flakes falling now. My cars have an inch of ice on them and the roads are slippery as shit.
southern morris county, it was snowing for a while but it looks like it's taking a break, In really hoping that the forecasts are wrong and we won't get more than the quarter inch or so we already got
Hackettstown here. We've had snow here, and there's still more to come. Not a whole lot, but enough to make for slippery travel. There's also the potential for a Wintry mix, which I don't like. I don't mind snow, but I hate freezing rain.
Branchville NJ...nothing but sleet and hail..plow truck came through and it sounded like the truck was grinding up the pavement..it's icy out..quite dangerous
Mercer county, first 2 to 3 hrs of it I just kept hearing sleet hit my windows. When I went to let the dogs out for their last round I could see the layer of ice on the grills and table.
Somerset county, just northeast of Princeton. Lot of sleet since about 5pm - enough to accumulate and get plowed. We were originally in the 6-8ā snow range but doesnāt look like thereās going to be much in the end as a lot of this storm looks like it shifted North.

Is the weather guy Steve DiMartino from NY NJ PA Weather?
Yes! Heās not happy.

Just outside Princeton. Sleet is just rain now. Snowed for maybe an hour.
Nothingburger.
7:30 Northern Somerset County. Very icy sleet, no snow yet.
The weather people can never get it right it seems likeš (joking, but I meanā¦ā¦)

Thereās noise outside. The dogs wanted to go outside. They ran out. Then instantly ran back in. There were some frozen things on their backs.
Monmouth County - Shore area
Northern ocean here- same - just weird frozen rain/ sleet? No snow

Visiting family near Sparta, it looks/sounds like ice-sleet more than anything and sorta faint snow flakes. Not looking forward to how much is going to be an ice layer and what snow comes next atop it.
Hunterdon county I have an inch of ice on my patio
Somerville/Bridgewater- mix of sleet and a few flakes
This live update is fantastic.... I'm currently stuck in SFO trying to fly home but you know, delays.... Slightly relieved to hear sleet, instead of "4 inches and going!"
Also, don't forget to wear a winter coat. It may be 53 degrees F in SFO but it is 25 degrees F in Northern NJ.
Yup, got a winter coat on me, thx! Just landed at 4 am lol
It is sleet that could turn into ice.... :/
Just landed at 4am!! Only a 3-hour delay, not bad at all but oh boy was I anxious! We were ready for a cancellation lol
The sleet has temporary stopped. I hope it isnāt temp but permanently for the weekend. So far accumulated about an inch and a half.
I hear a little sleet pelting my windows. I'll find out tomorrow morning what I have to deal with. It is what it is.
Augusta, Sussex County. We have about an inch of snow so far.
Just came iver the bridge from Philly, back into blackwood, and it was snowing, raining, then sleeting inn that order. Checked outside and its still sleeting
Very icy over the bridge here š
Sleet in Monmouth. Temperature is only going to get warmer so hopefully it doesnāt freeze over and just melts.
Sleet. And it is accumulating. šš©
Morris county - also sleet
Snow for us in Rockaway!

Seeing flakes finally in passaic county
Sleet in Edison. Surprisingly, the Apple weather app did get it right this time!
Ocean county was hail earlier. Now its snow, but its hard snow that wishes it was hail, but all the hail has hailed already.
East brunswick... sleet
Mill Lake Manor in Monroe same thing here.
Itās an icy mess out in central NJ. Just started the car to clear some of it off. Itās going to be one of those mornings trying to pry the car doors open.
Definitely looking like snow right now in eastern Monmouth County.
Union County. Snow. Then sleet. Just drove around the block. The car is driving on top of the snow/ice, not cutting through it. Could be a bad night for accidents.
monmouth county, just lots of sleet
West Union County, half an inch of snow mixed with frozen rain, with a few flakes falling now. My cars have an inch of ice on them and the roads are slippery as shit.
southern morris county, it was snowing for a while but it looks like it's taking a break, In really hoping that the forecasts are wrong and we won't get more than the quarter inch or so we already got
sleet just started w. monmouth county
Mother Nature is pissed.
Maplewood, little snow, sleet icy mix. Seems to have died down for now
Atlantic county. Ice ice baby
8:19 Morristown: snowing heavily it started much later than initially predicted
Green Township, Sussex County is all sleet.
I heard the quite loud sleeting in Hunterdon County
Burlington had freezing rain when I left, Perth Amboy's got a coating on the roads right now
Essex county- mostly snow but noisy like sleet and some drops that seem like rain. Have an inch of accumulation already.
Just sleet so far in Chester/Gladstone area.
Lotsa ice in upper freehold
i'm plowing at Central Park of Morris County and it's been on and off heavy snow/ sleet
Mostly ice in Washington Twp (Warren). Roads sucked but thankfully not many cars on the road.
Cape May County. Just raining a lot at the moment.
Hackettstown here. We've had snow here, and there's still more to come. Not a whole lot, but enough to make for slippery travel. There's also the potential for a Wintry mix, which I don't like. I don't mind snow, but I hate freezing rain.
NorEaster Nick got it right, again. He has won me over 100%
Ill check him out

Mercer county, first 2 to 3 hrs of it I just kept hearing sleet hit my windows. When I went to let the dogs out for their last round I could see the layer of ice on the grills and table.
Now it seems like we had some flurries overnight but not enough to fully cover the grass. The driveway, porch, and car are absolutely coated in ice though. I would've rather dealt with the snow š©
As long as I still can drive to New Brusnwick on sunday for my date I don't care
Gloucester Co. (Vineland Area) - Wintery mix of ice and rain so far. No snow.
Very cold out there, but I don't think we'll have any fun snow, sadly. My MIL is disappointed. They live in MS, and she was looking forward to it.
What county are you in and what did they get wrong?
Raining ice crystals, I guess?
itās been snowing in ringwood for a few hours now
Union County...more sleet than anything. Waiting for the fluffy stuff to happen. Time will tell.
Somerset county, just northeast of Princeton. Lot of sleet since about 5pm - enough to accumulate and get plowed. We were originally in the 6-8ā snow range but doesnāt look like thereās going to be much in the end as a lot of this storm looks like it shifted North.
Western Morris County... sleet with some snow
To me this combo is real bad because you have ice under snow
