I recognize Malinowski and Gill and some of the other names are vaguely familiar. I really want to know what each of their platforms are and what their background and accomplishments are. We need a really kick ass person in there.
Your ballot for what? The election was last month and the midterms aren’t until November. Even primaries are like 7 months away.
Is this a bot post or am I missing out on some January election action?
Edit: did some research, it’s most likely the special election to replace our governor elect in NJ-11. The primary is in February and the general election is in April and features 13 democrats and 1 republican running. Sherrill said she won’t get involved (because she’s classy) and Murphy endorsed Brenden Gill.
It appears Brenden Gill is the party favorite and has racked up numerous state and local endorsements. Meanwhile Malinowski has endorsements from national party members including sen. Kim and sen. Raskin.
I don’t know most of these other names but it’s worth noting that Analilia Mejia has been endorsed by Sen. Bernie Sanders, 3 US Reps, and Mayor Ras Baraka.
Anyone who gets Bernie’s endorsement has my vote (if I had one). Malinowski, though, used to be my congressman and was more progressive and active than most of his Dem peers in Congress at the time. And he did it in solid purple district, which I give him some credit for, so if Mejia doesn’t have a real shot, he wouldn’t be a bad choice.
I can’t vote in this election (or I probably would’ve known about it lol) but yeah I’ll def be rooting for Mejia in the primary and hoping that if it’s not her it’s Malinowski. It’s been years and I still can’t believe he lost his seat to that other jackass.
The only thing I know about gill is that he was in Murphy’s first administration. That’s not bad or anything but we should stop doing elections from the top down and letting the party pick the most moderate candidate.
If you live in the district, some of the local Indivisible groups have done interviews and voter guides for the 11th district Democratic primary in February. Check out SOMA Action’s YouTube channel and see one on ones with each candidate.
My two cents are that Malinowski is a coward for running for Sherrill’s seat instead of waiting to run against Kean again in 2026. He’s trying to take the easiest road back to congress.

11th congressional district election to replace Sherrill
Good to know about Mejia. I’ll definitely check her out.

Full disclosure, I already voted for Mejia.
