Last night as I was walking out of midnight mass at Sacred Heart Church in Trenton (Mill Hill/Downtown area) I saw multiple civilian cars with police lights had pulled over a car. As I walked to my car I saw that the officer’s vests said “ERO” which I knew was Enforcement and Removal Operation for ICE.
My partner and I stayed to witness and record the entire thing. All of the officers (4 in total) were covering their faces. They refused to tell us what probable cause they had to pull over and detain the 2 people in the car. The people being detained were and middle aged woman and a young man. They were able to shout to us that they were Colombian and they had visas.
I just want to get the information out there that ICE is pulling over and detaining folks in Trenton. If anyone has any info about any local immigration advocacy groups to alert please let me know.

Regardless of where your position falls on this, law enforcement is not, nor have they ever been required to inform complete strangers as to why they are effecting a detention or an arrest of a person or persons.
Next time you see a NJST, stop your vehicle, walk up to him in very close proximity while he’s conducting his stop and ask him why he’s stopping or detaining an individual and let me know how that works out for you.
By all means, film the encounter at a distance that’s not interfering with the stop or any activities related to it. That’s your right to do so. It’s not your right to interfere with the stop though.

Asking questions isn’t interfering with anything. These guys are getting away with illegal shit all the time because we just let them. There have been more than one instance of members of the public questioning ICE officers on their illegal practices during the act and that caused them to give up on detainment. It’s worth it to try.

Again, neither ICE nor any law enforcement body is required to answer any questions you ask of them that do not directly pertain to you. There’s a reason ICE is carrying out these arrests in the street, because a warrant isn’t required to affect an arrest outside of that individual’s home. Which is why when a business locks its doors and doesn’t allow entry to ICE Agents they turn around and leave, or they sit and wait for a signed warrant. They need the warrant to enter that person’s shop or place of business, home, etc., unlike in the street or on a sidewalk.
Like I said, next time you see a NJST with somebody pulled over, please stop your car and walk up into that Trooper’s investigation and ask him why he stopped the person, if he has a warrant for the stop, what evidence he has to stop that person, etc., and let me know how that goes for you🤷🏽♂️

They’re not “getting away with racial profiling” as you say, the SCOTUS has already determined that ICE is permitted to use racial profiling to carry out their duties. I mean I’m not in agreement with it but SCOTUS is the highest court and that’s been their ruling on the matter.
