I remember watching a video that got recommended to be and they said that credit availability discriminates on wealth like it was bad but like what exactly do you think credit is about? Like almost definitionally people with more money have the ability to pay more money.

High interest rates are what allow people with bad credit or low income to borrow at all.

If you cap interest rates, you make impossible for banks to lend to entire groups of people. Idk if thatβs an outcome we want.Β
Yeah, I think that there's been some conflation of moral worthiness with every other aspect of economic activity somehow to a lot of people.
I mean a lot of the time you'll see these things and you'd think the way they're describing it it's like there is conspiracy that are just trying to be evil or unfair because they have some metric where they think things should go through and any distortion from that is somehow amoral

I donβt remember if Saturn is supposed to ever be visible through the smog, but that would be a huge bonus if so. I had no idea who Trump was until he ran for President so itβs surprising to look at older stuff and see him be a big pop culture figure. Like this goofy stupid boomer would one day become one of the most dangerous men in American history.
Also sort of a mindfuck that the reality TV stuff wasnβt an act. Mf is actually like that in real life.
Iβm on the flip side, I grew up with a family that was obsessed with The Apprentice and The Celebrity Apprentice and we watched it live every week.Β
Donald Trump was a fixture of our household. We made popcorn, lit a fire in the fireplace, like we made time for our weekly ritual of watching Meatloaf yell at Gary Busey for stealing the paintbrush he wanted to use to paint a basketball to sell to one of his rich friends for an arbitrary amount of money. It was great.Β
And Trump was an absolute buffoon, every single week he would do or say something totally idiotic. Make radically incorrect decisions, change all the rules of the game on a whim because someone asked, listen to a passionate debate for 20 minutes and entirely miss the point.Β
At one point he fired a contestant for agreeing to come back to an βall starsβ season because he had previously won. And that if you had already won and you come back, you can lose. Which yeah, I suppose is darkly funny given Trumpβs behavior when it comes to trying to win things a second time.Β
The only one who wasnβt entirely braindead was Ivanka.Β
It was, from my perspective, very entertaining TV because it was so stupid and chaotic and βTrump just does what he wants.β
If you saw the show and expected him to govern like he behaved on the show, Β you would not want him anywhere near the White House. What made it entertaining TV is what would make it terrible for the presidency.Β
I didnβt know anything of his politics at the time, but I remember watching his campaign announcement live. I literally didnβt know what to expect- what I hoped would be true is a Republican businessman might get rid of the dumb cultural war social conservative stuff and try to focus on good economic policy (lmao couldnβt be more wrong). I thought maybe his dumb crazy guy thing was just a schtick for the show. But from the moment he came down the escalator and insistent that Mexicans were bringing drugs and crime, I knew I had no interest in his candidacy and would never vote for him.Β
It was crazy to me to see that he was actually just like that, as dumb and crazy in real life as his persona on the show.Β
