Female Spotted Hyenas have a pseudo-penis! It has a few functions aside from being a show stopping bit of trivia! (Seriously, every time i mention this, people stop talking to me.)
It’s used for urination, social coordination and dominance, and allows for the female to have the final say for all mating!
We’re gonna go ahead and not get into the birthing process… It’s… as bad as you’d assume.

Today I learned this and the fact that hyenas are neither dogs nor cats. They are an own family - hyaedinae, which is distinct from both canidae (dogs) and felidae (cats). While they resemble dogs in appearance and behaviour, genetically and taxonomically they are close to cats in Trends of evolutionary relationships.

It is times like this I hate having been obsessed with animals since childhood, because I don't get to be all "WTF" about bits of trivia like this. The magic is lost!
But here's my contribution: Theoretically, female spotted hyenas would be very good at lesbian sex. I mean, the pseudopenis gets as stiff as the real deal, and can be, uh, entered as well. They could take fencing to a whole new level, if you catch my drift.

The hyena pseudo-penis is an enlarged clitoris (same as humans). There are examples of human women having a clitoris that resembles a small penis.
Female Hyena’s are the dominant gender so perhaps longer the clitoris resulted in greater acceptance, enabling them to takeover dominating males by physically mimicking them to gain followers. Just a thought.
