So I’m trans. Looking for new name :)
Came across ‘Abella’ while playing fear and hunger termina and thought it sounded nice.
Did a quick Google search and it’s apparently of French origin meaning ‘breath’, which I like.
For reference I am 17f (mtf) Australian
If you want to recommend a name, please go ahead. I have previously considered Aria and Sylvia.
It’s pretty, but the first several results when I googled “Abella” were of a porn star, which may or may not be an issue for you. I like Aria and Sylvia; you could also do Adelina, Ariana, Alanna, Sierra, Ciara, Sofia.
Oh 😭 yea that might be an issue Sierra or Alanna maybe
idk if you're into reading, but if you are, check out the Song of the Lioness quartet by Tamora Pierce. the main character is called Alanna and she's canonically gender fluid - her whole story is about her rejecting gender norms and social rules to become the person /she/ wants to be 🙂 they were some of my most beloved books at your age. she could be great inspo for your name!
Alina and Adela have a similar feeling to me.
The “breath” meaning for Abella is not from French, but likely because this is a feminine version of the name Abel, which is derived from a Hebrew name meaning “breath.”
Oh lol my b
lol no worries, Google stays lying.
Admittedly my first thought was "abuela" lol but it is a pretty name!! But I do think I like Arabella or just Bella more.
What about Arabella?
It made me think of the name Arabella, which I think personally has a nicer ring to it.
Abella means “bee” in my language
ALSO forgot to mention my middle name is going to be Eileen (great grandmother’s name).
So I could use my middle name is a more formal environment (or I am coping because I like the name Abella but the first google result is a pornstar 😔)
Abella is pretty, definitely unique. How about Zara, Maia, Lila, or Claudia?
Damn that was fast, I appreciate that. Lila sounds nice too, thanks!
i feel like there’s a negative connotation i just can’t put my finger on
It's a cool name, but as the top comment says, I don't think you'd want to get associated with Abella Danger.
How about Adabella!
I'd go for something like Arabella, Isabella, Mirabella instead and then you'd also have the option to use Abella as a nickname if you wanted
Let's test this out.
I like your name, Abella! You don't hear that very often!
Sounds like a fake name invented by a teenager, so yeah, that tracks
