Frustrated with babysitting on yet another weekend night, Sarah (Jennifer Connelly), a teenager with an active imagination, summons the Goblins to take her baby stepbrother away. When little Toby actually disappears, Sarah must follow him into a fantastical world to rescue him from the Goblin King (David Bowie). Guarding his castle is the labyrinth itself, a twisted maze of deception, populated with outrageous characters and unknown dangers. To get through it in time to save Toby, Sarah befriends the Goblins, in hopes that their loyalty isn’t just another illusion in a place where nothing is as it seems. Labyrinth is directed by the legendary artist / creator / puppeteer / filmmaker Jim Henson, his third feature film at the time after directing The Great Muppet Caper (1981) and The Dark Crystal (1982) then Muppet*Vision 3D after. The screenplay is written by Terry Jones; from a story by Dennis Lee & Jim Henson. Produced by Eric Rattray. Made by Henson Associates & Lucasfilm. Labyrinth first opened in theaters in June 1986 earned around $34 million at the box office. Fathom will host 40th anniversary re-release screenings on January 8th to 11th, 2026 right after New Years. For more info + tickets, visit their official site. Who wants to go?
