What's the point if China and Russia can do whatever they want in our soil and waste pointless tax dollars that could've been used to buy new military technology
A sizable nation with a small population like us needs conscription to keep the borders safe. If we stopped forced conscription, I guarantee there would be no one willing enough to guard the borders. We just need mass reforms to make military service actually bearable instead of the clown show it is currently
Invest in drones not tanks or jet fighters, focus on arming the average soldier with something more up to date, house them in something that isn't falling apart, pay them a salary for successful service. The bare minimum first
I believe we should just spend the military budget on a small elite army instead of 3,000-4000 conscripts each year like we do. They could test graduate high school students and pick the top 300 talents and get them on a salary. Maybe extend the 1 year to 2 year. More focus on quality over quantity of recruitable soldiers if shit goes south.
China and Russia need a non-aligned party to keep their large border zone in check. Mongolia acts somewhat of a buffer zone to keep them feel safe from each other.
Also we don't want increased number of illegal migrants from Russia and China as well. China especially has always had extra settlers who would come and try to assimilate via marriage and eventually buy or own Mongolian lands since ancient times.
Whats the point of even buying military gear? Minimize the funds, enough to keep it sustained. And direct it towards education and health. All those useless guzeetei generals. What the fuck do they even do?
Military needs an overhaul and complete revamp. Become small and professional army that utilizes technology rather than bullying. Though there are probably many issues that prevents us from doing that.
